We loved our tour with Liquid Alaska guides, Meara and Miller! They are well qualified, knowledgeable, and entertaining. We loved every minute of this once-in-a-lifetime tour of one of the world's most majestic sites: The Mendenhall Glacier. Thank you - we will recommend this tour to anyone headed to Alaska!

This is the best excursion that we have been taken during our docked at Juneau, Alaska. Our guide, Ben and Casey (?) are super easy going, friendly, knowledgable. We are prepared thoroughly from the beginning. Ben told us what to expect and what might we encounter during our trek. They brought us to the site where rain jackets, waterproof pants, boots and dry sacks were provided. Inside the dry sack were bottle water and few snacks. Both guides shown us how to do a basic canoeing. We never feel unsafe and or uncomfortable. We canoed to the terminus site of the glacier and hiked to the glacier itself. The whole trip was memorable. Sceneries were awesome, almost out of this world. It is sad to see the glacier has been melting on a faster rate that it can regenerate. We need to do something for our own climate to safe all of these precious glaciers. Bring hat and sunglasses. This is highly recommended excursion for anyone.

What an incredible adventure! Bryce, our guide was the best. So knowledgeable and fun. He made the trip very enjoyable. Would highly recommend this tour when visiting Juneau, AK.

The Mendenhall Glacier canoe and hike was the highlight of my Alaska trip. The tour guides, Ben and Spencer, were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They provide almost all of the gear- rain boots, waterproof pants, rain jacket, hiking poles, crampons, water, waterproof sack, snacks, etc. you might want to bring sunglasses and a hat. The views were spectacular. I am not outdoorsy and had a fantastic time. We had a great group and worked together. It was a workout to paddle about 5 miles on a windy day in addition to a short glacier hike but it was definitely worth the time and money.

    Keith, our guide, was awesome!

Enjoyed this tour tremendously! Keith, our guide, was friendly, personable, & entertained us with cool facts about Juneau & Alaska on the 15 minute ride to the Alaskan Brewery. Easy to book, easy to get back. Van was a little worn, but fine for the short ride. We made it both ways safely & without incident. I would recommend booking a trip through Liquid Alaska.

Even though I got stuck in the middle of a zip line, between our zip line adventure and our visit…read moreto the sled dog musher's camp in the same day, it was hard to imagine a more perfect day in Alaska. The trip here started with a motor boat trip past pretty pretty scenery (see the picture I uploaded of a stream trickling down the mountain) to an abandoned gold mine. So far it's sounding like a Scooby Doo episode, but sadly there's no Ghost of Yukon Joe scaring off young whippersnappers from stealin' his claim. From there you're driven in an ATV up the steepest incline ever (30 degrees?) to the zip lines. This was our first time ever zip lining and I was afraid I'd be afraid, but I felt very calm the entire time and very safe, and was more interested in looking around while in the air. We considered zip lining on our honeymoon in Thailand - I'm sure the place in Thailand was insured, right? - but we decided to do it in the States instead so we wouldn't die. Our two guides carefully showed us everything we needed to know and then we were off, flying through the rainforests. We were told some segments took 30 seconds to zip across. I'm not sure if that's an exaggeration or if time felt like it passed faster while we were doing it. The highest segment was 180 feet off the ground. So yeah, I did get stuck in the middle of one of the lines. My glove got caught in the mechanism at the top of the zip line. Thankfully I wasn't scared - I just thought it was funny - and one of the guides rescued me. Our group of 8 - 6 strangers and ourselves - was pretty awesome. It even felt like the instructors wanted to hang with us, like we were the coolest group ever. The instructors warned us about banging into each other since we're all attached to the same lines, and after that there were a lot of banging jokes. It was noted that if you don't move your hand away in time after zipping down one of the lines you could get "finger banged." Our guides were really fun and one (Tyler?) would punctuate sentences by suddenly flying off down a zip line. If you thought smashing a phone down was a good way to punctuate a sentence, you've never seen someone suddenly fly away. You can bring your camera (hence all my photos attached to this Yelp review). You can also have one of the guides shoot a video for you of what it's like to zip down one of the lines. At the end of the zip lines there's a really high suspension bridge that makes for great photo ops, and then you get to repel down from the platform. When it was all over we were given medals and a snack. We felt like contestants on The Amazing Race for the afternoon.

Maggie and Riley were great guides through the course and encouraged anyone that was feeling a little scared. I mean, you're hundreds of feet up trees with a cable holding you! The excursion started with a a boat ride to the beach and then you take a short walk to the base camp to get all geared up and ready to go! After that, you take a ride in a Mercedes 4x4 truck, up the mountain not before you take a group photo, though : and from there you take a slightly steep short hike up the mountain to arrive at your 1st practice zipline. After you get the practice line out of the way, it's all awesomeness that follows! The views are amazing and the thrill of zipping on a 180ft line at 35mph is indescribable! Oh, and the suspension bridges are pretty awesome too...although they were the scariest part for me lol. My husband and 14 y/o daughter also did the excursion and loved it as well. We'd do it again and you won't regret taking a few hours out of your day to have this once in a lifetime experience! P.S. You even get a nice medal at the end of the tour to prove you "survived"! :) Great touch!

I don't know if he was racist or sexist but he seemed to have an issue with black women. My cousin and I were two of three black females on the bus. When we got on the bus my cousin said hello he said NOTHING and wouldn't make eye contact. When he handed the white people their wrist bands they said thank you and he said welcome. We said thank you and he said NOTHING and he would not make eye contact. He said that he comes to Alaska to work during the tourist season from Arizona. I've been to Arizona a couple of times and everyone seemed friendly maybe Rick is from a part where his behavior is tolerated. I find it unacceptable no matter where you are from or where you are working! Lastly the bus sounded like it needed to be serviced. We feared we'd breakdown and not make it back to the port on time.

The ship was immaculately clean, but the decor was worn out. Carpet on the stairs were thread bare and the upholstery in the dining areas (vinyl?) was all cracked and crinkling. The most disappointing part of the cruise was the hard sale tactics for purchasing a beverage package. The sale tactics were so intense and intimidating that we ended up purchasing a beverage package, only to be informed right before the charge was processed that we had to purchase two; one for each of us in the room. Now, to be transparent, each package was just over $400.00 for beverages for a 7 day cruise. And that was not even the most expensive package, and you had to purchase it within the first 48 hours of the cruise. So we did. And as it sunk in as to the cost and how much we would have to drink to even break even, we asked the service desk to reverse the packages and we would just pay for each drink. But unfortunately for us, we had waited until after the 48 hours and we were told, no way. When we returned from the cruise I wrote to HAL (Holland America Lines) and asked again that the charges be refunded, or at least refund one package (I totaled up all of our beverages and it was less than 400.00 for both of us). I also informed them that even with the two packages, they still managed to charge us another 30.00 for drinks. After waiting 4 weeks, i received an email reply and was told No Way in terms of any refund, however, they would reimburse us for the 30.00 that we were charged for drinks that should have been included in the beverage package. I responded to that email and said that was not satisfactory and that they need to consider what else they can do. It has been 6 weeks and counting since that email was sent. With all the cruise lines out there we will definitely cruise again, but not with HAL. Being taken once was enough and we can find a better experience on a newer, fresher ship without the hard sale tactics. Good Luck to those who choose HAL and Buyer Beware!!!

Captain Matt and deckhand Billy did an awesome job all around. Captain Billy was knowledgeable of the spots to look for fish and Billy was very fast at getting the lines in the water and helping us when we did hook up. When we were wrapping up, Billy prepped the fish we caught. If you are staying locally, you can just take them with you. I've f you are on a ship, like me, they have a company that will process and ship your fish home for you. It's not cheap, especially if you catch a lot of fish. You also have the option of releasing the fish you catch. That's up to you. The bus ride to and from the port was very nice. They still provide you with a snack bag of crackers, some different spreads (one was smoked salmon, another a soft cheese), and some sliced sausage. It was very nice. It was overall a great experience and I would definitely go out with Captain Matt again. I will end with this... My review is not based on how we did. It's fishing, and you gotta know going in that you might not catch anything. A guide should help your chances, but nothing is for certain. Go for the experience. Enjoy the beauty of Alaska and the wildlife that is around you. This is a good way to do it. Check them out! By the way, my group of 5 people did well...
