Front derailleur, headset, back brakes and crank arms were barely functional. My nephew's grip fell off during the ride. These bikes have not been maintained at all. For the amount of money you spend for the tour, I'd expect a better functioning bike. The tour was nice. Great views of the area. However, our annoyed tour guide was not friendly and it came across too well. When it came time to end the tour at the brewery, Marni showed The group the location of the brewery and left. No "Thank you". She just left.

I was super worried about this hill after reading the reviews and let me tell you that the hill wasn't even worth mentioning. But if you are new to bike riding then please understand this a really small hill but for the average bike rider this really isn't even a hill at all. Just saying. They followed us the entire time and made sure we were safe at all times. My only complaint would be to have more time at the visitor center to explore more. We saw both visuals but were very lucky since we are both very fit. If we weren't then we would have definite problems for not having enough time to actually explore things. More time would definitely fix this situation. The brewery part of this tour is including Alaskan Brewing Company. Just in case anybody who is wanting to experience other breweries this isn't your tour. Just one and one only brewery. They could definitely improve this process by including other Alaskan Breweries. Just saying!! Hope this Helps!

The worst excursion of the entire trip…read more What was bad? 1) The bikes. 2) The guide. 3) What there was to see. 1) The bikes were old, decrepid, beat up, and all together not worthy. The helmets smelled very badly of sweat. Not all of the bikes had the little mud flap on back. And we did go through mud. This was in sharp contrast to the wonderful bike tour experience we had in Skagway the day before. 2) The tour guide was the most awful public speaker I had ever encountered in my life. She started EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE off with "ummm.... now...." And I mean every single one. She spoke in the most droll, monotone voice. Evening news is more entertaining. She also spent the entire time wiping hair from her face, adjusting her hat... for the 30th time, or otherwise touching/blocking her face with her hands. 3) There is nothing to tour. There is nothing to see. The town used to do canning and logging. It doesn't anymore. But, the town is conviently located between 2 other big cruise ship ports. This is a case of the town going to the cruise lines people and saying, "If we build it, will you come?" Unfortunately for us passengers, the cruise lines said yes. My advice, stay on board that day and book a spa appointment.

This is without a question the worst experience that I paid to have happen to me. The only good…read morething I have to say about this is learning what NOT to do when talking to a group of people. There is an issue of locals stealing bike seats, so they just take them off... and store them in with the helmets. If you don't know what sweaty dirty seat-helmets smell like when you put them on, be happy. The gear was horrible, the town has nothing of interest, and the guide didn't know the first thing about public speaking. If you ever get a chance to do this while on a cruise, stay on the boat with screaming children, you will have a better time.

No ear popping, it can be a little crowded, but the cool thing is your ticket is good all day and you can run up and down until the end of the day. And one ticket will allow you to do it early and then again later? Wow. The staff are friendly and keep things in order. They get you up pretty quickly. There's a $50 credit per tour that applies to the first guest through the "More at Sea" package. You'll also get Latitude Reward discounts depending on your tier. It somehow ended up costing less than $20 for both of us. It's also an all day pass, so you can go up & down as many times as you want. We were one of the first in line that morning. There were only 8 people in front of us. We watched as they were taking the staff up to the shop & resraurants. Before long, it was our turn. The tram was pretty packed with lots of standing room and very few seats. I chose to be on the outer edge with a great view. The climb is steep, and you do go straight up like an elevator for that last push to the top. To be honest, I've been on much higher gondolas (to the top of the Zugspitze near Garmisch). The Goldbelt Tram was an easy ride compared to that. I did like the commentary along the way. It was nice to hear fun facts & history as you're taking in the view of the channel and forest below. There is a gift shop, restaurant, bar, and theater as you get to the top. We opted to take on the Alpine Loop Trail early. We also made sure to stop at the Chilkat Theater to view the "Seeing Daylight" documentary. Don't miss that viewing. It's part of the whole experience. It really puts everything into perspective about the land and its people (Tlinget) who have lived here for centuries. You'll see an ongoing theme as you explore other Alaskan towns. It really ties it all together. We didn't get to try the restaurants. We thought it best to explore Downtown Juneau and the waterfront instead. It was a good decision. It was all very memorable! I'd love to do it all again.

We started the day with our guide- Chloe at the port, then was driven by Lucas to a nearby river where we had views of salmon swimming upstream on a salmon run back to where the salmon were to lay their eggs where they too were born then pass on. We stopped for a few minutes since we had extra time until we were to drive to where our boat was. We arrived at Statter Harbor where public bathrooms were available before we embarked on our adventure on "The Observer" with captain Leslie. There was a boat toilet on board but didn't want to miss any wildlife- so be sure to use the public bathrooms before you board your whale watching cruise! While maneuvering to see Humpback whales we were educated about humpbacks- structure, behaviors, etc.... very interesting tidbits from Chloe. It didn't take long before we spotted spouts of breath erupted from the waters. We were in awe. Next we saw bubble net feeding which is not something seen by most humpbacks- they tend to be solitary creatures so seeing a "pack" of ~12 humpbacks in the water surrounding fish with their bubbles- then stunning them in order to capture and eat them...was amazing. Little did we know that was only the prelude to the actual show! Not long after the first encounter with bubble net feeding did we see more spouts then another bubble net feeding... THEN they started making their way calmly TOWARDS O U R B O A T !!!! Stunned and amazed I just kept repeating "oh my god!!" Eventually they approached SO closely that THREE of the humpbacks dove UNDER OUR BOAT!!! Tears rolled off my face from the sheer delight of being graced by such sentient, graceful beings... it was the most amazing wildlife encounter I've ever had. If we had been positioned inside the boat with the open windows we would have had their blow holes tossing air/snot right at us! One of the passengers said she was hit by these breaths of joy. Experiencing this changes you- you feel more connected to your surroundings and at peace and are more steadfast in helping these creatures live their lives peacefully. It only further emboldened me to help protect wildlife and its habitat. We only had 12 passengers along with Chloe and Leslie on the boat so it was an intimate experience and never felt like we couldn't get a good look at the action. We left the waters after seeing some seals atop of buoy... feeling at peace and amazed. Next we got back on the bus and headed to hike at Mendenhall glacier where Chloe talked about the forest and the receding glacier with historical information. We saw Mendenhall glacier in July 2003- and 22 years later there's so much LESS to see. It's easy to see the impact of warmer climates and Earth's rising temperatures have had on the glaciers. As majestic as it was it was sad to know in less than 25 years these suppliers of food and sustenance to aquatic life will likely be melted thus drastically affecting the wildlife that intentionally seek out these glacial waters seasonally. We were provided a set of two snacks- granola bar and chocolate and nut trail mixture along with cups of water. Gastineau Guiding walks the walk and talks the talk. Chloe mentioned they used thousand of bottles of water for guests every year and needed to make changes. They source the large bottle of water from a local company that presupposes them for every tour and the cups are composted locally. Even better is if you bring a reusable water bottles like our family does daily!! The drive back to the cruise ship had us all feeling grateful and souls at peace. Make sure you take the excursion from this company. They are doing right by Mother Nature by educating visitors about Alaskan aquatic wildlife, whilst providing an experience of a lifetime. We realize we were graced by these whales with an incredible show that most don't experience- and I don't take that for granted. Thanks Chloe and Gastineau Guiding for an experience we will never forget
