Unethical Practices: Improper Lien Sale on Recovered Stolen Vehicle - Avoid WAP Towing/Recovery! This was, without question, the worst experience I've ever had with a towing/recovery company. My van was stolen 12 years ago and recently recovered by WAP. Instead of properly notifying me as the registered owner, they failed to make any legitimate contact. They then proceeded to place a lien on the vehicle for storage fees, conducted a lien sale without my knowledge, sold my van, and pocketed the proceeds. To make matters worse, they sold the alleged "debt" to a collection agency, who only then reached out to me--threatening legal action for fees I was never informed about or given a chance to address. I had no idea the vehicle had even been recovered until the collectors contacted me. This raises serious questions about their notification process and whether proper procedures were followed under California law (which requires specific notices, including certified mail, before a lien sale on a vehicle). It also makes me wonder how many other owners of recovered or impounded vehicles have been treated similarly--losing their property without due process while the company profits twice over. I reported the full details to the Valley Division of the California Highway Patrol, and they expressed significant interest in investigating. I hope this leads to accountability for anyone involved in these questionable practices. I strongly advise anyone dealing with WAP Towing/Recovery (or similar operations) to document everything, verify notifications, and be prepared to escalate to authorities like CHP, DMV, or legal counsel if something feels off. Used them on 4/10/2025. Specifically requested to not start my vehicle. Got to the repair shop before the tow truck made it. Watched the tow truck driver start my vehicle and drive it from the repair facility backyard to the service area and asked a technician where to park it. I was standing with the technician at the time and told the driver that I was the owner of the vehicle and I specifically asked to not start the vehicle as we were planning on pushing it into the bay. Starting it and driving the car caused more damages to my vehicle. Super frustrating. If your insurance company allows you to pick a towing company, don't go with WAP. I hope they make this right and contact me after this review. read more

My car broke down and I called for a tow 1.7 miles back home. They said their ETA was about an hour so I said okay and decided to wait. Two hours pass and I hadn't heard back so I decided to call; no answer. Another half hour still nothing. Called back; no answer. I have been waiting for almost 4 hours and absolutely no communication. They are unreliable and uncommunicative with customers. In 100+ heat, Vick hustled to drive close to 1 hr to me and helped me out with a swap to my spare and some really good recommendations for what to do next. This company is a hidden jewel. I have had to use roadside assistants in the past, but never have i had such dedicated and truly kind human beings with the VERY best customer service i have seen in years. Vic came to do a battery jump, but my car is a pretty new and a sports car at that. Neither of us new how to find the battery. So he grabbed the owners manual.He tried an tried, Nothing. He read it again and found that the battery was in the trunk! Who knew?? What did we find when we opened the trunk, WATER. The rain got in and shorted out my system. So,. Long story short, nothing seemed to charge that battery.... AND TO TOP IT OFF IT STARTED RAINING!!!! Vic didn't let the raindrops bother him. He kept trying. When he ran out of ideas,, he called Mike. They put their heads together and GOT MY CAR STARTED, with a smile not letting the rain bother them at all. I am convinced they are both a God send and want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. WAP Towing Company? To sum it up, fast service, clean, well kept trucks with all the modern "gadgets" along with awesome well manner caring employees. GEICO Roadside assistance has dispatched WAP towing for me on a few occasions. Once for a lockout and twice when my commuter broke down. All 3 times their drivers & dispatch have been very kind, professional and quick to respond. I appreciate their excellent customer service which helped make stressful moments a lot easier. read more

These guys make an already stressful situation even more stressful by not providing accurate information. It should not take multiple phone calls to figure out which yard my car was towed to. I got a flat called GEICO they sent this company the first guy that showed up was mad because he got called on his day off and because i hadn't lowered my spare tire so he Leaves while flipping me off. the same tow company sends a second tow truck to take care of my flat tire the guy proceeds to try and take the lug nuts off but instead strips two of my lug nuts on my 2019 Silverado worst Tow truck company their customer service is the worst i Will be calling GEICO to complain. read more

Without a doubt, the best experience I've ever had with a tow company. We purchased a jeep near Redding over the weekend. Half way home, the Jeep broke down in Williams. Of course this was a Saturday evening and knew we were in trouble right out of the gate... Not only was every repair shop closed, but we were also so heartbroken that we'd only owned this car for one hour and we're already stranded. Geico dispatched David from WAP Towing out of Marysville. David was there in NO TIME! This in itself was awesome as we didn't have to sit around too long dwelling on what had just happened. As soon as David approached us, we started to relax. Great place. Had a screw in my tire called roadside they forwarded me to WAP towing. They were here in less then 20 mins and from another job at that. Vick was very professional and efficient definitely an asset to the company he got my tire switched out and me back on the road. I would say it took about 5 minutes maybe even less I think he used to work nascar. Definitely one of my better experiences with a tow company and I would highly recommend them. read more

Wow I was super impressed! The guys at work recommended WAP and best advice I've had in a while. Cool guy, truck in great shape, didn't take too long considering I was rather hard to find, even helped try to figure out what the heck was wrong with the car--definite fuel flow problem. This incident occurred in June 2020, and this is a late review. My encounter with John (who I believe is the owner) started out quite amicably, and he was very helpful in a stressful situation, initially. What happened was my adult brother was in a solo collision, and hit a utility box out of town. The CHP had my brother transported to a nearby hospital to be checked out, and therefore his car was towed by WAP Towing to their storage yard. When I talked to my brother on the phone while he was at the hospital, he told me he rolled his car. Getting conflicting information about the condition of the car, I called WAP Towing to find out the condition of the car, and that was my first conversation with John. John was very friendly and told me that my brother just hit a utility box and the car had not been rolled. We then discussed that my brother has a mental disability, and that I will be handling the insurance claim. The insurance company had already confirmed with my brother that I would handle the claim on his behalf. So John was super friendly and such until I wanted the car released to the insurance company. John said he couldn't release the car to the insurance company without my brother's consent because one time he released a car to a family member, and the owner of the car came back and sued him for releasing the car to someone other than himself. I pointed out, "Why would an insurance company take possession of a car they do not insure...this is ludicrous John!" John said he had to protect himself from liability. I then had the insurance agent call John to inform him that my brother gave verbal consent to have me handle the claim. Nope, not good enough. This was a Friday, and they were closing for the weekend, so the car remained in their possession over the weekend and continued to add up storage fees. The following Monday, still trying to arrange to get the car out, I told John he was taking advantage of a disabled man just to make a dime on storage fees, to which he denied. In the meantime, my brother is in a hospital 90 mins away from me, and with COVID and no visitation, trying to get all of the written documents John required in order to get the vehicle released to the insurance company took another few of days. I finally faxed all of the documents to John, after going round and round with him over this in several conversations, and he said the documents were blurry, but he'd accept them. Now it's another Friday afternoon by now, so the insurance company scrambles to get someone over there to pick up the car before they close for the weekend again. So the insurance company was on their way to get the car, and I get a text from John's office lady. She asks what she should do with the keys to the car. I IMMEDIATELY responded to her text to "leave them in car." I didn't get a confirmation text back, but since I responded immediately, I was certain she must have received the text. Well.... Monday morning, I get a text back from her saying, "Sorry, the car has already been picked up by the insurance company, and I still have the keys." WTF???? Why on God's green Earth would you not leave the keys with the vehicle??? What favor are you doing anyone by keeping the keys??? Since it would be a 90-minute drive for me to go retrieve the keys, she said she'd mail them, which took about a week to get. So we needlessly racked up $1k in storage fees due to John's unscrupulous business practices, not to mention repairs were delayed because the body shop had no means to move the car without keys. I hope I never have to deal with business again! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They were supposed to tow my car from Yuba City to the apartments where I stay in marysville. Took them an hour to get to where I was. The guy who was towing my car was a nice guy nothing against him. But while he was getting my car on the tow truck bed I heard a snap while I was in my car since the car had to be turned on in order for it to be in neutral allowing him to crank it up to the bed. When I got out of the car I noticed my bumper had a crack which wasn't there before and it had chain marks all over the bottom, you could tell it was from the chains because of the rust residue on the white paint. I mentioned that to the guy assisting me and he said " you sure it wasn't already there"? So I called the manager the next day which he was being an old ignorant fart. He insisted there was no way they did it. He said it was from me hitting a pothole, which I did hit a pothole on the 5th street bridge which caused my rim to bend and my tire to pop which was the reason why I was getting it towed in the first place. But the pothole only damaged those two things not my bumper. My bumper is higher in the middle anyways so if it were to had damaged the bumper it would have damaged the sides first not the middle. So I called a few days later to see if he could check out the damage since he was 100% sure it was not their fault. He never came out to see it while I waited about 20 minutes. He was telling me over the phone that he went over the bridge and didn't see the pothole that I was lying and must've hit something else. First he was saying it was from the pothole and then decides to say he didn't see one, makes no sense to me he should retire since he's an old ass dirtbag. The pothole wasn't the concern he was trying to make that a concern and trying to push the real issue away which was them messing up my bumper. Keep in mind I was just trying to have them own up to their mistake and pay to fix my bumper. I'm not going to pay for something that wasn't my fault. Money wasn't the issue for me I replaced and bought all new rims the same week. The issue is that he wasn't trying to accept the fact that they fucked my bumper up! Do not get your car towed by this place! They will fuck your car up and blame it on YOU! read more

They were very quick to arrive at the sight of our broken down baby, a '72 Triumph Spitfire. Despite the blazing heat, Matthew was friendly, courteous, professional and very careful with our poor little car.
