    Taking a break!
    Susan M.

I have taken several tours with Wandering Adventures and have always had a great time. Christine and crew take care of all the transportation and movement of kayaks. They do a thorough safety and weather briefing. Communication is excellent. They are very knowledgeable local guides. Go! You will have a good time!

If you have never been behind this lady then you have not been on a Wandering Adventures kayak tour. Christian is so knowledgeable about the area. She will narrate and answer all the questions she can about wildlife and the area. If you are trying to stay away from the crowds of season then look her up. Peaceful and a beautiful way to see another side of Florida.

I booked a tour with Wandering Adventures not long ago to paddle through the mangroves with a small group of friends. I have my own kayak but was visiting from out of state and many of my friends do not own any which is why we opted to do a guided tour for the day. I have to say that it was one of the most fun experiences I've had. Our guide Christine was the most friendly and outgoing person. She was such a pleasure and was very attentive to everyone. She seemed very knowledgeable and catered to the skill level of everyone in the group. I personally have nothing to complain about other than the unpredictable Florida weather. As conditions worsened the trip plan had to be altered for safety reasons which was the responsible thing for them to do. I would gladly book another tour with them again!

You absolutely MUST go out with Wandering Adventures. They know the passageways well and make sure to place safety first. It was my first time kayaking really. I went once at a park and it was horrible because the weather changed suddenly, making it to shore was very hard. That was enough to turn me off from kayakung, but then I decided to give it a go in natural waterways graced by mangroves. Mind you, I'm not a strong swimmer. Christine helped ease any concerns right away. She was amazing from the minute I reached out. I had no care in the world, just enjoying the best of nature.

surprised my husband with a sunset kayak trip followed by a candle lit, super fabulous cheese board plus at our camp site. Perfect

When I first turned in I went to the wrong parking lot and saw tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground. Moving back I saw dog parks, a zip line course, and then a huge lake. I've actually done the zipline course before and enjoyed it. You can do paddleboard tours with Upper Tampa Bay Paddle Sports. I bet you can even bring your own kayak or paddleboard and go into the lake. I saw a sign at one of the dog parks that said for smaller dogs. I don't own a dog, but I imagine that owners of small dogs would appreciate that. This park seems well taken care of and it is nice to know there is a kayaking lake so close to home. I'll definitely come back!

The park is open until dusk (as posted that the gates close then) and there is lots to the area. I went at around dusk and saw some beautiful views of the water. The park area is very clean and obviously well taken care of. Parking is free and although the driveway into the park is paved, you will most likely be parking on grass that has a dip to it. My friends and I enjoyed roaming the area and exploring what the park has to offer.

No guidance on where to head out, just made sure I knew what I was doing, gave me a life preserver and sent me on my way. There's no dry bag so you have to either bring your own or leave your stuff with them, which I didn't know in advance. The launch area is easy enough, but then basically you're paddling out into the bay, which a lot of it was really shallow when I was there. If you're looking for just some straight up paddleboard exercise, then this is fine. If you're hoping to see a bunch of manatees and other wildlife, I would suggest elsewhere.

The center is currently closed due to Covid but the bathrooms are open. From what I could tell, on our mad dash to the bathroom and distance viewing, the displays are informative and well done. I'd love to return when it is safe to and take a look. The park has three trails that are part of the spree. We hiked the Bobcat Trail since it includes the boardwalk. The trail travels for about a half mile through trees and over dusty shells. Then it connects to the boardwalk. This was by far the best part. We walked along the beautiful, tree lined water, getting up close and personal with a bunch of small black crabs. We scanned the water for manatees but were not lucky to find any. The trail ends back at the nature center. We climbed the back steps to the top level and caught a great view of the river and the distant city. After the hike we hit up the playground for a few minutes. This is always my kids' favorite part. We also stopped off at the butterfly garden which was pretty active on this day. The park was in great shape, the bathrooms were clean, there were lots of people around doing various park things. Canoeing, kayaking, hiking, nature hunting and playing on the playground are just some of the things available at your fingertips here. So glad we visited! Can't wait to return to check out the other trails.

My husband and I had a wonderful time bouncing around to find different places to snorkel. We've never snorkeled in the area so we didn't know what we were looking for. The knowledgeable WKT crew had many suggestions and found spaces where we could enjoy the waters and sea creatures away from the crowds. The activities: We got to see the fort ruins, saw wildlife in the seagrass, and hung out in the sandbars where we found sand dollars and shells with every step. The ride: The World Cat was impressively stable on choppy water and operated smoothly. There is a sink and head to make those long outings comfortable. There is plenty of seating. A few people may be able to recline in the bow under a retractable bimini cover. The size of the boat made it possible for us to get into shallow areas and anchor wherever we wanted. If you're visiting the area or are a local looking for a private boat with a captain to give your small group a wonderful, custom tour, Wayward is the way to go!
