Then Dr. Shih spent some time reviewing those results before coming in to look at my eyes. Long discussion about pros and cons of different solutions, what I could expect from the surgery and next steps. I asked why she wanted to do surgery on each eye on different dates. Basic answer - it's rare that something goes wrong but if it does we don't want you to have two eyes possibly damaged. Made a lot of sense to me. I was back in the office a few days later to have my eyes measured with different machines to identify the best lens for my eyes. I was a bit apprehensive about the first surgery but it wasn't scary at all. Second eye done two weeks later. Follow up next day after each surgery and then again 1 week later. The results have been amazing. Everything is so much clearer, brighter and less yellow. So glad I had this done. Dr. Shih's skill and professionalism - along with her support team, were important to that success.

I've verified this with my doctors office. Upon receiving the referral, PAMF called me to say they saw the referral and would have me meet with a doctor here. I discovered upon check-in (several weeks later) that the doctor I'm waiting to see (it's already half an hour past my appointment start time and no one has even brought me into the appointment room) is an optometrist. The receptionist told me that PAMF doesn't let patients meet with ophthalmologists unless they're having surgery. I'm incredibly frustrated at the misleading appointment booking practices and the long wait as well. I took the afternoon off of work to come here and it's clear that not only do appointments not start anywhere near on time, but that the entire 1.5 hours I'm supposed to spend here once I'm seen is going to be a waste of both a lot of my time, and some unknown amount of money. I don't like getting my eyes poked and dilated for no reason and losing valuable vacation time to boot. It's incredibly dishonest for PAMF to book revenue for a visit that is literally not what the doctor ordered. The bait and switch attempt should require patient approval. If you've also been referred here for specialty care, beware and keep looking.

I would not recommend Dr. Shiuey unless you are already certain you need a specific eye procedure…read more Based on my experience, I would not go to him for a diagnosis. During my follow-up appointment for my eye infection, Dr. Shiuey told me that I would never be able to wear contact lenses again and that, if I didn't want to wear glasses, my only option was LASIK or PRK. I made it very clear that I was not interested in any type of eye surgery and that I was completely fine wearing glasses if necessary. Despite that, the conversation continued to focus on surgery rather than trying to determine the cause of my remaining symptoms. He even discussed the cost of LASIK, explaining that it would be around $5,000, after I had already told him I did not want eye surgery. At the end of the appointment, he handed me his associate's business card so I could schedule a LASIK consultation. This left me feeling that my preferences were not being respected. Because I was uncomfortable with the recommendation, I sought a second opinion from my regular eye doctor. She determined that my eye infection had completely healed and that my remaining discomfort was actually caused by allergies, not an active infection. She prescribed allergy eye drops and told me I could safely return to wearing contact lenses as long as I followed proper hygiene, including not sleeping or showering in them, cleaning my eyelids regularly, and using eye drops as needed. The difference between these two evaluations was significant. Instead of receiving an accurate diagnosis and treatment for my symptoms, I was told I could never wear contacts again and was repeatedly encouraged to consider elective eye surgery. Had I not sought a second opinion, I may have believed I had permanently lost the ability to wear contact lenses and that surgery was my only option. If you receive a permanent recommendation like "you can never wear contacts again" or are told that surgery is your only option, I strongly encourage you to seek a second opinion. I'm very glad I did.

He used remarkably small incisions and completed both operations in amazingly short times. Prior to the surgeries. Dr Liu and his staff went over the operations, answering all my questions. They helped me with one decision--the focal length of the lenses. They were indeed right to suggest the change. My eye sight went from 20/30 and 23/50 with glasses to 20/20 and 20/25 without glasses. I felt lucky to get an appointment with Dr Liu, just a few days after calling his office - due to a cancellation, and was able to schedule my cataract surgery less than 4 weeks later. From the first time I met Dr Liu, I felt like he was a kind and caring doctor, who listened to me and answered all of my questions. I was also impressed by all the technicians there, and ease of scheduling all of my appointments in advance. Over the last 6-1/2 weeks, I had my LAL cataract surgery on both eyes, two adjustments in right eye and one adjustment in left eye, and did my second and final lock in two days ago. I…read morehad prior eye medical issues that Dr Chang had explained to me on my original Medical evaluation. I was raised with my Blind Father. He lost his vision after an eye procedure so I was very worried about any surgical procedure complications that might have occurred. Now fast forward, except fur some left eye soreness, some Shimmering Light and left eye Stigmatism, I can read all the DMV Eye Charts with both eyes open. I still have to go for numerous LAL Lenses adjustments and hope that they can correct most of my Stigamatism, I can say that I'm seeing better right now than with my prior eye glasses except for my Left Eye Stigmatism. I do use 150 power reading glasses for close up. My ophthalmologist Dr Bruce Kirshner highly recommended Dr Chang.. I've been going to Dr Kirshner for over 49years and respect his medical knowledge and experience...... After the surgery? Dr Chang's office has sent lots of information including videos to my email and I appreciate that But I would have liked a personal call from Dr Chang just as a courtesy support.
