But, I think I've kept this awesome Burlington trail a secret for long enough. Let me start by saying that there is a park area with a playground and covered shelter and grill that looks nice and clean! On our most recent visit, there was a big cookout going on, and all of the parking spaces in the small lot were full. Don't be concerned if that's the case when you arrive ... there's plenty of street parking available in the surrounding neighborhood. And - even if the play area is full of people, we've never seen another person on the actual trail beneath the park. This trail is not for hiking amateurs. You can except a VERY steep climb back uphill at the end of your visit. There is a side path that's a little less steep - but it's very rocky with lots of switchbacks. I definitely recommend this trail for more experienced hikers. If you are a beginner and still want to check it out, just be sure you know what you're getting into. It's definitely worth the climb! My husband and I often bring our dogs for a quick spin around this trail, on both weekday and weekend mornings. When you get down to the actual river, there's plenty of wildlife to check out. Most recently, we enjoyed the blooming Honeysuckle plants, but steered clear of a few snakes in the water. Be sure to watch where you step. Check out Gunpowder Creek the next time you're looking for a unique nature hike with a bit of a challenge. You won't be disappointed.

Such a fun surprise of a neighborhood park!…read more This park has a large three-section play set, a basketball court, sand volleyball court, and a full picnic area with seating and grills, so it's really easy to spend a long afternoon here. There's even a disc golf course and a cute bridge that makes it feel extra scenic. The paved trail is pretty hilly, which honestly made for a great workout walk, and it's also good for bikes if you don't mind a few climbs. The absolute highlight for me was the access to the beautiful creek running through the park. There are also nice little habitat areas that would be great for bird watching. Public bathrooms are available, though they weren't the cleanest when I visited. There was some trash around, but there are plenty of trash cans, so hopefully that improves with use. It's surrounded by townhouses but open to the public and feels welcoming. Overall a great local park for families, walks, casual sports, or just relaxing by the creek.

Take a short 0.2 mile walk through the woods to see a herd of bison. The trail is paved though from there the trails are more loose gravel. Can accommodate a wheelchair to the bison viewing. Friendly staff in the museum who can help guide you regarding trails. Good place to bird watch. Ample parking esp for trailers and big trucks. There is an outdoor playground and picnic tables too.

The area is beautiful and a great place for a walk. My 4 star rating is coming from a desire for a better map, the ones they have are ok but I had a little bit of trouble at times, and then for being let down on 2 things I promised my kids. The "children's garden" has definitely seen better days and is very lackluster in general. There's nothing to do inside of it and we were honestly just confused. The other thing was the butterfly garden, all of the bushes were gone on our visit. In general, these things aren't a big deal but considering I had 4 small kids with me, these were 2 things advertised that we were looking forward to.

What a lovely little paved path just off the main road in the Union-Florence area! There's plenty of parking - regardless if you're there for a baseball game or for a nice walk. We brought our dog with us, and ended up doing the entire loop in just under an hour. We'd initially pulled up this trail in the AllTrails app, and it told us this was 1.1 miles ... we're not so sure that's accurate, since it felt like we were walking for much longer than that. Next time, we'll make sure to measure how far we've gone. Either way - what a gorgeous way to start your day! The plants and trees are all labeled, and sorted into various collections. The Magnolia Collection was by far our favorite, although that's about as far back into the loop as you can get. The trail itself is well-maintained, and wasn't too busy at all on a Saturday morning around 9 a.m. There was a good age range among the folks walking ... it was nice to everyone from families to elderly couples out for a morning stroll. We'll definitely return to this paved trail - it's especially convenient after a big rain, when you don't want to hike through the mud!

I stopped to ask a nearby homeowner, who promised the trailhead was just beyond the outdated sign. It was, all official with signage and a parking area. It's a nice trail, clearly marked and with several benches along the way. It's a loop of about a mile and a half, which ends by the creek. This park's clever name originates with the fact that it is in the center of Boone County. With loads of sports recreation and an amazing arboretum, Central Park is one of the best parks in Northern Kentucky. With six lighted softball/baseball fields, six soccer fields, four lighted tennis courts, basketballs courts, and a 2.5 mile scenic walking/biking path, Central Park is always filled with athletes and nature lovers in the spring and summer. Luckily, during games the concession stand is open, which is located near the main entrance. The park has two reservable picnic shelters, which can accommodate small and large crowds. I've attend parties as small as ten people to company picnics with over sixty guests, and there was ample space. Clean public restrooms are located near the entrance; otherwise, port-o-potties are scattered throughout the park.
