A few years late but this new bridge finally opened in late 2017! It isn't fully competed yet though. Some of the final work around the footpaths will be completed in early 2018.
It is a nice modern bridge for a City that is going through a transition from ugly plain architecture to a City that actually wants to be architecturally relevant.
The bridge is named after early settler John Walter, who operated a ferry at this crossing over the North Saskatchewan River. It is also located at the site of the City's founding. The new Walterdale Bridge replaces the old structure built in 1912-13.

I'm looking forward to this summer when we can check out the bridge close up while enjoying the river valley and perhaps Accidental Beach too! read more
