This is a pass for me. Inside was cool looking and modern but service and food was disappointing. We were on vacation and made a reservation for dinner via OpenTable. Service was friendly but so slow and my steak was undercooked from the requested temperature but the waiter didn't come back till the end so just ate it. The side a salad I ordered even came late and just a few minutes before the steak. The Wild Mushroom Chicken had hardly any mushrooms on it as too. Upon getting the check my pen didn't work and I never saw the server again. After many minutes I finally went to the bar and borrowed one from the bartender. Roughly $90 with food and drinks before tax and tip and would have expected more. Across the board this was a miss for me and was incredibly disappointed. Oh, they do not disclose it upfront or on the menu but they charge a Non-Cash Payment fee. Mine was $2.70 on my bill but seriously consider this unnecessary and business should understand it as a cost of doing business. This was my second try at liking this location, but it fell short again. My first try was the Mother's Day brunch, but due to it being a buffet and not the regular menu I wanted to give it another go. I started out with the french onion soup and was disappointed in the lack of flavor. For my entree I went with the sirloin steak and baked potato. I had to send back the steak because it wasn't cooked as requested. Our waitress was quite absent during our time there so she had another woman drop our food at our table. By the time our waitress came back to check on us the person I was with was halfway done with their meal. Whenever I told our waitress about my steak she looked at the person I was with and suggested that she share her steak with me since it was cooked right. We went in on a Tuesday evening around 6pm. Not very many people in there. We were seated and were told our server would be right over. 15 minutes later she walked by us and she saw me staring at her and said "oh I was going to walk right by you". She took our drink order. She came back and we ordered. I ordered the Pittsburgh wrap with sweet potato tots. My husband order the smash burger with everything except cheese. I gave the rating a 2 because the sweet potato tots were great! The wrap was awful. The steak was so tough and flavorless. I ate half of a half and left the rest. My husband's burger came out with nothing on it except lettuce and tomato. When he asked for ketchup for it she looked at him oddly. He didn't finish his burger either. We waited for quite a while for our check. A gentleman came over to take our dirty dishes. Never even asked if our meals were ok and saw all of the food we didn't eat. We watched someone come in and stand for 10 minutes waiting to be seated. Not a good experience at all. I can't imagine we will be going back any time soon. read more

Wanted to make you aware that we are experiencing another night of horrible service tonight. A friend of mine was here at 5 pm as of 7 pm, a waitress has not been at the table. She finally put a food order in at the bar around 7:15 and the food still hasn't arrived now at 8:30 pm. I overheard a conversation in the bathroom by a woman who placed her order at 6 pm and still hasn't received her food at 8:30 pm. She called for a manager around 7 pm and no one has been to her table. I am not sure why service here is so hit and miss. But tonight is the absolute worst I have ever seen. I will update when we finally receive our food, but this is absolutely unacceptable. I don't think the night manager exists and I am ready to order food delivery. i ordered an espresso martini for happy hour which should have been half off. it came to the table half full. We asked the waitress if we could have a new one and the bartender came over and gave me sass saying I was wrong and that's how martinis are served. he said he would comp the drink since we were not happy. we received the bill and he charged the full price for the drink (not even happy hour price) and gave us more sass once we asked it to be removed. the staff wouldn't even get the manager they refused because he was cooking on the line. they had a total of 8-10 tables and said they were soooooo busy they couldn't handle the current rush... average food, average drinks, poor poor service, angry rude staff. The restaurant is a large, open concept with outdoor seating. We were disappointed that we weren't able to sit outside when we arrived, it was a beautiful day and the patio looked like the place to be! Not sure why they weren't seating outside. Happy hour has some good specials from 4-6, specials on appetizers and alcoholic beverages. The menu is large, but I have to say that the prices are extremely high for a small chain restaurant. The food itself was just lacking so much...Our appetizers were missing some sort of flavor to make them worth coming back for. The prime rib sandwich, and the salmon BLT were just ok. Both missing sauce, and any sort of flavor to make them unique. I ordered a happy hour wine $4, and was super surprised when the bill came and my wine was $14 a glass. When I brought this up, and the manager said "she would see what she could do, but couldn't do $4" I was immediately turned off by this place. I specifically said that I only wanted this type of wine if it was a "house" to get the $4 HH special. The only reason for 3 stars is the manager did end up giving me the happy hour special I asked for in the first place. The food would be a 2 star experience for me. We decided to try the Friday night prime rib dinner. I asked in advance the size of the portion. The person on the phone said it is a 16 ounce serving. I ordered the prime rib dinner. I asked for medium rare. When it arrived, it was very thin and overcooked. It wasn't like prime rib I've had at other restaurants. It was brown on both sides. I sent it back. The manager brought my order. It was slightly thicker, although not even close to 16 ounces. It had a well done area from the outside for about an inch. Then it was medium rare from there to the nearly raw area in the middle. They obviously do not know how to prepare a prime rib roast properly. We ate at the prime rib buffet. Although the service was friendly and efficient, this was the worst quality restaurant food we've ever had. The prime rib was riddled with gristle and hard to eat. It was undercooked, almost raw. I asked them to recook a piece for me, and it came back dried out. The chicken was dried out and not very tasty. The scrambled eggs were burnt, although to be fair, it was the end of the pan. The "fruit salad" was 2 kinds of melon and grapes, and the melon pieces were hard and I think not ripe. So for $25 per person plus tax, tip and special service charge for using a credit card, the only edible food was lettuce and dessert. read more

Great food here, nice to have one in Washington. A sizeable menu, many yummy things to pick from. Today, the Chicken and Brie Quesadillas, with Brie, mozzarella, grapes, grilled chicken, raspberry drizzle, cilantro, and sour cream. Everything worked great together, especially with the Raspberry drizzle for dipping. A yummy, crunchy Quesadilla shell was worth it as well. And the WG Burger, with Blackened beef, sauteed mushrooms, candied bacon, Gorgonzola, and sweet chili. This was awesome! The candied bacon, and caramelized onions, the chili sauce all were a foodgasmic burger experience. I'm a burger fiend, and this was a 5 star burger, the flavors were perfect! Excellent Burger - the WG burger was thick, bacon was flavorful, fresh veggies and real winner. The sweet potato fries were Ok also. A sauce for the fries would have been a nice addition but we used ketchup. The Happy Hour Specials they are making available seem to be a nice value. Daily specials make for different options. Stay away! We met up with good friends for a casual dinner. The restaurant was not overly busy. There was a live band, Smoke and Mirrors, that was too loud for the space. We couldn't hear each other speak; more importantly our waitress couldn't hear our order. It took over 30 minutes to get our bar order. When it finally arrived it was wrong. God knows what red wine we were served. I ordered a 6 oz pour, my husband ordered a 9 oz pour. They came out exactly the same, in the same size glass. Two 6 oz pours. Our meals took 90 minutes to arrive. One ordered the fried cod with side salad, two ordered chicken Cobb salads and I ordered the bbq salmon bowl. We received three Cobb salads and the salmon. The Cobb salads were tasteless. The floor manager dropped by our table and we were honest about all the mix ups. She insisted on comping the cod dinner and taking 15% off of our bills. The bills arrived. They were charged for the cod dinner because he ate the Cobb salad. No 15% discount. Our bill was charged two 9 Oz wines (we received two 6 oz pours) plus another 9 oz glass. No 15% discount. It took 20 minutes to correct the bill. The one bright thing was my bbq salmon was good. read more

We stopped in Saturday morning around 11 for some Bloodies and Bennies for a lil RnR, mmm... Gotta take a min for some nostalgia and talk about how incredible WG Shadyside was when all the college buddies still ran it. The food was amazing and many of the meals were curated by a creative chef with flair! The interior was fun and whimsical plus the Meatloaf Wellington was heavenly, JS Not the case at the new Apple Bee's thing that's going on... We ordered Bloody Mary's and Eggs Beney each with mussels to share. Funny side note: they offer their version of a classic beney subbing in candied bacon and offer a California version too which adds spinach to the classic option. Avocado may have also been part of the alternate option. I love a good Eggs Benedict and generally order it when it's on the menu. Presentation was good and the food quality was good, except the potatoes tasted so fishy. There was something not tasty about the dish, maybe the hollandaise?!? Tbh tho I couldn't decipher it over the tongue paralysis from how much salt was in the mussels. Holy shit there was so much salt in the mussels that we stopped eating everything AND who leaves mussels behind? ORRR Hollandaise?!? We did enjoy the drinks! The Bloodies were so good we ordered a second round! I mean, if I can get the vitamins from the meal, at least the beverages were full of nutrients! The server was super pleasant and chatty. Ww took mom here for mom's day brunch. They offered a buffet, which included breakfast and lunch items. Our server was lovely and did her best, which led me to give a 3 stars. My mom ordered a mimosa- she said she did not taste any champagne in the drink. We had to wait for plates to get food- and many times when we did get plates- they were dirty. And then we had no silverware and the wait was really long for that. There were no napkins. Our server got us cocktail napkins. The food was being filled constantly, but it was slow. You had to wait a while for things. During our whole meal, the french toast was never filled. The bacon was good and crispy. I think they rushed some food- the eggs benedict were cold and I got them as soon as they came out. The prime red appeared and tasted like it was not cooked at all. And I like my meat rare- but this was more than that. My parents enjoyed the dessert and pasta salad. I never got to try the soup because there was never a bowl. I waited to try Walnut Grill until almost a year after they had originally opened because I heard such bad things about the food and service, so I figured by now they would have the kinks figured out. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The restaurant was very clean and inviting, but it seemed only one section of seating was open since all the tables in the restaurant were grouped in the same vicinity. I would have had no problem with this if it was super early or super late since sections close and servers come and go for their shifts, but this was at 6 pm on a weekday. The menu denotes lots of happy hour options, but I had to ask the server about it and was not initially told about anything. I ordered a mule on happy hour which I never received. As for food, the menu is pricier than other nearby options, but I have no problem paying more for higher quality. The problem I had here was that the food was not great. For my entree, I had the tuna bowl. For nearly $20, I expected a generous piece of ahi and was sadly disappointed with the portion- it looked like a tuna tartare appetizer placed on top the bowl. I didn't personally like all of the toppings in the bowl, and poke is typically one of my favorite entrees. The mango salsa was hands down the best part. Other people in my party got the fried chicken wrap, pulled pork nachos, and potstickers. The wrap was pretty disappointing as well at a $16 price point. The potstickers were excellent and the nachos were pretty good which bumped this review from 1 to 2 stars. Service was more than slow and he only appeared to have one other table and they also seemed to struggle to get service. Like I mentioned, I never got my alcoholic beverage, and we only got water refills after we got our checks. He was nice, but our server never checked on us after being out our food, and we were finished eating for about 15 minutes before he even returned to ask about the check. This place could be good, but the food quality is disappointing and the service could be greatly improved. I may return to sit at the bar and take advantage of the happy hour offerings, but I won't be returning for food anytime soon. read more

My waitress had one whole side of the restaurant but she was super nice and outgoing and taking it in stride excellent service from her. The wait for my fish tacos was over an half an hour so I'd avoid dining in on lunch. The food was disappointing, considering how nice everything was I expected top of the shelf seafood. But ti be honest I've had better fish tacos at long John silvers. At over 20 bucks that's just not good enough.
