My boyfriend and I wanted to try a new place. We have driven past this restaurant numerous times and felt like it was time to try it. Upon entering the dining area I pretty big they have a pretty cool light fixture and the ambiance is nice. Once we were sat we asked if there was a drink menu. The waitress though nice, said no. When we asked about a wine list she again said no. I have never been to a restaurant where they did not have a drink menu..... we ended up getting our usual seltzer. The menu had a decent assortment and my boyfriend loves linguine and clam sauce. We are gluten free so it was going to have to be penne but it was nice it was an option. He said he liked that they gave him a lot of clams and it wasn't a puree but there was hardly any flavor at all. I ordered the Caperese Chicken with gluten free penne..... from the picture it looked good however, the chicken was so charred all you could taste was the grill. The only thing that has some flavor was the pasta. It had a faint garlic taste. The server though friendly didn't check on us that often and our food took over 45 minutes to come out and it wasn't busy. We stopped at Santello's after church today for lunch and boy was it good. It was our first time trying this place so we didn't know what to expect. The service was stellar and the food was delicious. We started out with the pretzel braids and literally it was the best tasting pretzel I've ever had. Something about that dough was special and made magical things happen with one's tastebuds. I ordered the B&S smash burger for my entree and they definitely smashed it out of the park with this one. Great!! 7 of us friends went yesterday to hear Good Guys Trio at Santello's, most of us for the first time. They had both a drink menu and a wine list, previously reported on Yelp to not exist. I had a nice California Cabernet for $10, the craft beers came in two sizes, and the 24 ounce was also $10. A couple of the women ordered specialty cocktails, which they said we're good but had very little alcohol. We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrées. The pretzels were amazing and came with a nice beard cheese dip. One person ordered the cheese sticks, which looked like two churros, they were huge. They came with marinara and he also ordered ranch dressing. Meatballs were another appetizer and they smelled delicious and were also very large. I had the house salad and they allowed me to substitute the cheese. With that I had an incredible crabcake. Ordered "the Don" from my husband to go, as he was in the band. Attentive service by Anaya. The atmosphere was a little rustic, kind of like a barn, and with the high ceilings, the noise level was pretty intense. Thus the reason for the four stars. The name is misleading. The food I received was not made from scratch, so it seems. The chicken piccata definately had a reheated taste, the chicken did not have a sizzling bubbly coating drenched in capers and sauce, it was mushy, the taste was dry, with hard to find capers. And the buttery garlic sauce was scarce. So dissapointing. I likened it to microwave frozen fishsticks. So no more food here. That said, the waitress was a pleasant as could be, she was cheerful, helpful and pretty quick. The atmosphere was definatly bar atmosphere. Before going, I saw on social media they were rolling out a new menu and I guess I expected more because it recently changed names, etc. the place itself is a nice space for not outdoor and indoor seating, looks like live entertainment at night with a stage. It took a very long time for our food to come out and when we got there, it was just us and one or two other tables inside. When the food did come out, plate presentation looked like it was all just thrown on the plates, all our sandwiches looked plain, no lettuce, tomato, tartar for the fish(said they were out). We were going to order a second round of beers, but it was difficult to get our server to come and check on us. Tried it again since it's a new owner. The food was okay but was nothing special. I had the chicken parm and my mom had the Caprese chicken. Large portion, hot when it came out. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. It was really hot in there but when we told the waitress she had them shut the doors. It had just happened to be one of the days it was 95 degrees out. I came here a handful of times when this place was Frankie I'd. It was ok. The food was mediocre and ambiance was meh. Not now that it's Santellos this place IS BOMB!!!!!! They had live bands every Friday and have room to dance (and a lot of people do!) I've eaten here four times and everything I've had was fantastic. They also have outdoor seating in summer. The parking lot normally has space unless a popular band then they have valet or you just park down the street. This is slowly becoming my go to place. I've been to Santello's about 4-5 times, I need to go more often. I went for Happy Hour time, which is a great deal! There were two bartenders working at the bar, they were working hard because they were so busy. But it wasn't too long to wait to get a drink. I ordered the Lemon Rigatoni, it was so, so good, and enough for me to take home. I ordered a chicken wrap to take home for dinner the next day. It was very good too! The best thing was the Lemon Ricotta cake, I still have some, it's enormous, get it to share. Dined at Santello's on a Sunday ~2pm. Woodwork bar atmosphere. Our server was very friendly and helped us decide on menu items. Stuffed Pepper appetizer was really good. I think the Reuben was our favorite! Meatball sandwich gets kudos for great presentation- 3 meatballs bursting out of a homemade loaf of bread! Onion rings very good but had to press a napkin to them to release some excess grease. All in all- a really nice lunch! Not too expensive from a lunch standpoint. What could improve? How about starting with serving food as described on the menu? The Greek salad was nasty lettuce, one hot pepper, and one tomato. When the server stopped by and I asked about the rest of the ingredients listed on the menu, she told me that she had no idea what was supposed to be on the salad and would check. Twenty minutes later, she stopped by to ask if the rest of the ingredients were delivered. I told her they were not and that's how the story ended. No apology, no offer of a discount. They literally did not care. Don't expand the menu if the chefs and servers are illiterate. Stick to small words and a few items that they can read and prepare properly. My drink was good. A friend, my husband & myself went at opening 11:00am today. Between the 3 of us we ordered 2 meatball hoagies & a chicken bacon ranch wrap. The meatball hoagies were humongous. Three big meatballs fit in a pretty large hoagie roll. I can see why a free side isn't offered with them. The chicken wrap came with French fries. The French fries were limp. Not a crispy one in the bunch. Very disappointing. The wrap itself was just what the name says it is. I'm not going to crave it and want to come back repeatedly to get it again. The meatballs were very dense & had a pretty herbaceous flavor. My husband & friend agreed that they thought there were too many bread crumbs, not enough cheese & not enough time soaking in the sauce. I also asked about the water chestnut wrapped in bacon as an appetizer I read about on their Facebook site. Nobody there seemed to have a clue what I was talking about. The two words that come to mind are "train wreck". This place has so much potential but... My wife and I took my daughter, son-in-law, and our two young granddaughters for an early Friday dinner. We arrived at 5:30 thinking we would beat the rush. The food took forever to get and wasn't good. Greek salad was lettuce and feta only. It took 20 minutes to get tartar sauce for my fish sandwich and 30 minutes for a beer. Overall it took 2 hours for a few salads and sandwiches. I ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce and onion and mayo. Fries and a side of ranch. I got an overcooked hamburger , no cheese , no mayo. And the bun was not a gluten free bun.
