Plated well, fresh, and great portions. I had the Blueberry Mango salad (no pic), so delicious and fresh! We also had the fried Brussels sprouts; definitely recommend. Place is staffed with the most incompetent people I've ever encountered at a restaurant. I've been here a few times and they never get things right. My wife and I both ordered the sweet and spicy chicken and when to got it there was no sweet sauce on it at all. To add to this experience my French onion soup I ordered with my meal had no onions in it. You'd think I'm making this up but I'm not. This is just this encounter. The last time we were here I ordered a steak medium. Well let's just say my steak was definitely under sized, charred on one side and rare in the middle. We also got the roasted brussel sprout appetizer with candied pecans, blue cheese crumbles and a balsamic reduction drizzle.... Fantastic! I really don't even know where to start! We showed up around noon on Saturday. There was no greeter or hostess at the front door. Once we arrived at our table, we were greeted quickly after by what appeared to be a kind and competent server. He seemed knowledgeable about the menu and made recommendations. We ordered our drinks (one soda, and 2 drinks from the bar), it took at least 15 minutes to get our drinks. Mind you there was only a few tables filled. So there was plenty of wait staff, honestly I believe that their staff out numbered their patrons. We ordered the prime rib sandwich (which was suggested), it was served without aus jus and was dry, Buffalo chicken wrap, which had entirely too much buffalo sauce on it, and the California Turkey wrap, there was no avocado on it. We weren't provided a opportunity to discuss our issues with our server. He never returned after he served our meals to make sure everything was okay. So we made due. When he finally returned we voiced our concerns, to which he was very dismissive We should've known there was an issue since their parking lot was empty. read more

We waited 45minutes for beet salad and soup. We got the attention of our waitress and asked her if we were ever going to get our food. She filled my iced tea but did give me any ice until I asked. The other 2 in the party never got a refill of water. She never checked on us futon the 45 minute wait. 2 of us ordered the roasted beet salad , one with chicken that was waaaay overcooked. There were no visible beets so we asked for some. She brought us 10 cubed beets from a can . The gargonzola was tasteless. She said we were waiting on my sisters fish that was lukewarm at best. The cole slaw was rancid. She finally gave us our bill and had added $2 for the canned beets!!!! We asked to speak to the manager and waited about 15 more minutes. My sister finally went to the kitchen and the manager told her to wait he was taking off the charge for the beets. She told him we had been waiting since we got there. He was laughing and joking with the wait staff and told her to just leave. We did and will never return. Having lived in the Pittsburgh area most of our lives we found Walnut Grill to be one of our favorites. We moved to the west coast 10 years ago and upon a recent trip we recommended Walnut Grill to friends for "lunch". Had we been there any longer it would have been a midnight snack. We waited over an hour, after ordering, for our food to arrive. It was mediocre at best. Our 8 year old granddaughter even made comment to the waiter that she had been very patient. When the manager brought out the new order of eggs, it was a very quick apology and no comps were even offered. Great place to come with a large group. We were visiting from MN and came here with our girls soccer team and 7 adults. They sat the girls at one table and the parents at another. We really appreciated that. We did have to pay with one check. Wish they would have done a check for each player. Still would highly recommend but be prepared to have someone pay for everyone. This place is the definition of average. Everything is just ok. The service, the food, just everything. I've been to several Walnut Grills and this one is my least favorite. Update: We gave them another chance on 7/25/22. It was actually worse than last time. The bread took forever to arrive and was warm but seemed frozen and re-heated. I had to ask for the one salad to be brought out before the food. The salad took 20 minutes and was served on a warm plate with wilted lettuce. It was not even edible. Two of us had the crab cakes. They were tiny with a tiny little smear of sauce under them, not even enough to actually taste it. They were ridiculously salty. The staff seemed more interested in chatting with each other than actually working. It's shocking this place is still open. We all agreed that we will never return. Appetizers came out before our drinks did! didn't get our silverware until 2 minutes after we even got our food. Couldn't tell you our waitresses name, and gave us a cracked glass. I haven't been to the Walnut grill in a long time and decided to grab an early dinner while out with my hubby. I heard they have made some great changes and wanted to give them another try. So glad we did!! The service, drinks and food were fantastic! I had the Caramelized Walnut salad with added grilled chicken and my husband had the Walnut Salmon. They were both delicious! I mean really delicious! The salmon and chicken were cooked to perfection! I added in a Blackberry Mule and it was honestly the best mule I've ever had. Went to walnut grill for brunch today with family. We each ordered simple breakfasts: eggs, toast, bacon, etc. It took an hour for ONE of the breakfasts to be delivered to the table (for reference the restaurant was about 1/5 full). The other breakfasts arrived about 10 minutes after the first breakfast. We've eaten here numerous times and have had very hit or miss service but lately everyone appears to be checked out. The hostess magically appeared then but had to clean a table for us even though there were several clean already in the bar area. Then that was it. We never saw another soul. No waitress, no drinks, no one even acknowledged our presence. So, we left and walked across the parking lot to Olive Garden where we were greeted at the stand by a smiling hostess who seated us immediately and our waitress was right on her heels taking our drink order. My husband and I ate here on Saturday 10/23/21 for the first and last time. Our server was less than pleasant ( I gave her the benefit of the doubt as maybe they were short staffed). We waited at least 20 mins for our drinks to be brought out and that was after I asked another server to check on them. The appetizer was good and brought out when our drinks were delivered. Our entrees, while tasty, were brought to us about an hour after we ordered. I might add, no explanation or apology was given as to the delay. My mom and I wanted to try this place out just to see what it was about. It looked great on the outside so we figured it should be worth a shot. The service wasn't bad at all, however I spotted many hiccups. One being that my beer was without a doubt sitting on the bar way too long. It didn't even have a head when I got it. It was still cold though so that's a bonus. The steak I ordered that was priced at $32 was completely over cooked to medium well when i asked for Rare, and it had an insane amount of char on it making it pretty difficult to eat. I'll begin with a sincere "thank you" to the Walnut Grill staff who gave up Thanksgiving with their loved ones to take care of those of us who chose to spend ours at their establishment. Now for the bad news. The food was terrible. The turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing tasted very similar to TV dinners I've had over the years and while I'm certainly fine with that sort of meal, I'd expect something a little better from Walnut Grill. Making matters worse, 2 turkey dinners, 1 glass of wine, and the tip came to nearly $100. I typically don't even pay attention to the cost of our meals (or much else for that matter), but I was hoping for a much better experience for my wife and I. Instead, we ate a sub-par meal and shared a forgettable experience. On the bright side, we are now back home, decorating the tree, having some wine, and enjoying a little Christmas music. read more

We went to the Sunday buffet and I am so glad we did! We were greeted by Sandy who was extremely friendly & professional. We were seated promptly. Our server Jodie was wonderful. Food was great. The prime rib was excellent along with the other offerings. Kudos to the chef. Everything was fresh and stocked at all times. Previously we had a wonderful experience that was on a Sunday but was not a buffet. Once again we had a wonderful server who seated us named Lauren and the food was delicious. We have no silverware just laughable at this p​oint. So you would think ok I don't see many people here, bar is empty 3 other girls helped serve our food whatever is happening our food should be amazing! Well once we get our rolled silverware some are DIRTY. Have to wait for new. Still laughable. We start eating and 2 of the meals were TERRIBLE!!!! COULD NOT EAT IT. Another plate of pancakes burned and yey another breakfast burrito was "ok" but cold. Waitress comes over ask how ​e everything is... My response not very good which she pretty much knew. I mean this was ridiculous Now it gets even better Here comes mister manager so incredibly arrogant asking what's the issue. I went for lunch with an elderly relative and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The hostess (Tina, I think) didn't hesitate when I asked her to take a picture of us. She told us about upcoming bar events and a little about the company. Our server, Lexi, was cheerful, attentive and easily answered menu questions. I stopped in to get something to eat and though the hostess was a sweetie it went down hill from there. Coffee well tasted like it was made with old dish water and barely warm. The hostess got me a new cup and all I can say was it was hot, no amount of creamer or sugar could make it drinkable. I ordered a fish sandwich, I mean how can you screw that up, they did. The coating was almost black and the inside barely warm, how does that happen. Frys were soggy, and all in all a very underwhelming experience. Was there for Mother's Day brunch and was awful. There was never enough of food out at one time. Waited several times to get fresh silverware and plates. We were given cocktail napkins instead of dinner napkins. They were out of fruit completely 2 hours before the brunch was to send and were out of danishes and dessert as well. I went to lunch with my kids and waited 40 minutes before we got our appetizer (mind you they were not busy). When I asked what the hold up was I was told that the manager is the only one cooking and that the table behind me waited an hour for salads. I'm not sure if management is an issue there with them being able hire and keep employees since we frequent many other restaurants in the area and this doesn't seem to be a problem.
