Smash Burger - with two cold slices of unmelted cheese
    Brad H.

Incredibly mediocre chain restaurant. Fortunately they do have a nice deck area, which is a good spot to get some drinks in the summer. But that's really the only redeeming quality of the place. On my recent trip I had a smash burger. About as basic an order you can get and very hard to screw up. For an $18 burger the cheese was not even melted and there was barely any sauce. That is how most meals go here. Just very poor quality and effort. The French fries were the best part of my meal, which are very good.

This is a pass for me. Inside was cool looking and modern but service and food was disappointing. We were on vacation and made a reservation for dinner via OpenTable. Service was friendly but so slow and my steak was undercooked from the requested temperature but the waiter didn't come back till the end so just ate it. The side a salad I ordered even came late and just a few minutes before the steak. The Wild Mushroom Chicken had hardly any mushrooms on it as too. Upon getting the check my pen didn't work and I never saw the server again. After many minutes I finally went to the bar and borrowed one from the bartender. Roughly $90 with food and drinks before tax and tip and would have expected more. Across the board this was a miss for me and was incredibly disappointed. Oh, they do not disclose it upfront or on the menu but they charge a Non-Cash Payment fee. Mine was $2.70 on my bill but seriously consider this unnecessary and business should understand it as a cost of doing business. Well I don't live in the area, but aside from that based on experience, service, and food taste I won't be back.

The service was good, the food was delivered quick. 3 pieces of flavored chicken and a baked potato done perfectly.

They automatically charge you an extra 3% service charge for using your credit card. Just increase the price on the menu and no one will complain about your "Non-cash payment fee". The owners need to stop with the money grab. You have how much less shrinkage and spending with credit cards versus cash. Credit card fees are the cost of doing business. #DumbBusinessDecisions Also the waitress was nice but didn't seem to happy to be there. She brought out an empty coffee mug that had crud caked on the inside bottom of the mug. Gross. She didn't notice it and we had to point it out.

Chelsea was our server and I've never felt so welcomed and appreciated. The food was also amazing. The live music added to the just pure warm reception of the place. 10/10 would go back. Thank you Chelsea!

This was my second try at liking this location, but it fell short again. My first try was the Mother's Day brunch, but due to it being a buffet and not the regular menu I wanted to give it another go. I started out with the french onion soup and was disappointed in the lack of flavor. For my entree I went with the sirloin steak and baked potato. I had to send back the steak because it wasn't cooked as requested. Our waitress was quite absent during our time there so she had another woman drop our food at our table. By the time our waitress came back to check on us the person I was with was halfway done with their meal. Whenever I told our waitress about my steak she looked at the person I was with and suggested that she share her steak with me since it was cooked right. Not the most appropriate response to say the least.

    Burger & green beans.

Modern decor. Great handicapped accessible parking. Good food & service. The server was very patient, as this was our initial visit. I liked the fact that I could get seasoned green beans with my burger , instead of just French fries. We were there until closing, but weee not rushed.

We had dinner here because we also dined at their restaurant in North Carolina. The atmosphere was very comfortable. We had an accomadating attentive waiter and our dinner did not disappoint. My dining mate and I ordered the French onion soup, the salmon and steak dinner and the beer battered cod entree. Everything was delicious. Good portion size, food came out hot and plated nicely and prices reasonable. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience and a great dinner.

So the larger your group is, the harder it will be for you to get a table. Parking can get tricky too. My own gaggle of friends has learned to carpool, and we accept that we won't always be seated directly together. Like any good diner, Dog House's menu has plenty of breakfast options, along with burgers and sandwiches. The menu is simple but solid, and the prices are reasonable. The French toast is my bestie's favorite, and I can confirm that their burgers and Belgian waffle are also quite good. Most recently I ordered the Chicken & Waffles; it was tasty, but I admittedly wish it came with more syrup. Also wouldn't have been upset if it came with one more tender since they were on the smaller side. The staff are very nice and they clearly work as quickly as possible. Of course, their speed is always dependent on how busy the diner is overall. I'll echo other reviewers saying that if you go in expecting to eat at a small town diner, you won't be disappointed. And my recommendation is to order a breakfast item or a burger to get the whole small town diner experience!

My food/drink bill was $53. I paid credit card. Statement showed Food charged separate from $12 tip in two separate transactions on my card. I ate there at 2p. They close at 3 PM. I noticed at 11pm that night. When I called the next day at 12pm, the owner, Sam, stated "not possible bc the drawer balanced out the night before". I explained that was impossible. I have worked at many restaurants and a mistake that egregious shows up immediately. He stated the waitress accidentally typed in "a few extra zeros", noticed it, then cleared the mistake and retyped in the proper amount which was $12. Sam then stated that the $1200 must have been the amount to go through to the credit card instead of the corrected amount that she submitted. . Again that's impossible because if that was the case then my credit card would have charged the $1200 PLUS another charge for the corrected $12. I did not have that on my statement. He did not like my argument. In fact i had a $53 charge. And a separate $1200 charge with no $12 (tip) charged at all. He said very methodically, " oh don't worry this happens often at my restaurant" and then said , "but dont worry because it always remedies itself and the charge falls off of the credit card AND THEN the credit card replaces the dropped off incorrect amount with the proper amount". Yeah, I'm sure it does correct itself --the remedy comes in when the customer finds it then the manager fixes it. But if the customer DOESNT find it then it stays in the owner /employee pocket. there was no apology, no verbiage of how he would remedy it moving forward with other costumers. This is concerning. he was dismissive stating it was not a big deal. The bigger issue is that ....HAD I NOT LOOKED AT MY CREDIT CARD I WIULD HAVE EATEN THAT AMOUNT OF $1200. How many elderly are being scammed????? If you eat here, make sure to pay cash. As soon as I called out their scam , the next day the $1200 was removed from my credit card and so was the $53 charge. I then found a new charge of $65. I feel bad for the elderly that are in there and possibly getting scammed without knowing. TO ALL THE SENIORS WHO GO here -CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS OR PAY WITH CASH. . No one greets you. You seat yourself. The restaurant was filled with almost exclusively elderly people. Food was good. Potential loss of funds was horrid. Response even worse. Eek.

A delicious restaurant, a fantastic market, a dairy that makes phenomenal milk and a place for amazing events like the fall festival and events with Santa. They even have special events where groups (and often the general public) can sign up for a tour where you get to learn about their dairy operations and even milk a cow! When you visit in the fall, they have a lot of great themed decorations (as well as activities that you can pay to be a part of). But you can enjoy the festive vibes and decor without doing the whole experience if you are short on time or cash. Their food is delicious! The best way to describe it is homemade comfort food! The friendly staff is knowledgeable and will answer any questions you might have about what certain things are or about ingredients. You can also eat fairly affordably, especially for the portion sizes and homemade, quality ingredients. The shop has a variety of souvenir type items (shirts, magnets, mugs, stuffed animals) but also local products like cheese and candy. They also have bakery items and tasty ice cream. Worth a trip for a delicious meal and fun farm experience!
