Lately we've experienced more of the latter and, as a result, will try a different provider next year. Eye exams have always been patient, thorough, and accurate. Last year, the Doctor became mildly irritated with my wife raising concerns about a box of problematic contacts affecting our daughter, as if the issue did not exist. We decided it may be a fluke and came back this year. This year, my son and I have had several problems with eyeglasses we ordered. I asked for Trivex and the best anti-reflective coat available, but we received polycarbonate, Cristal Rock AR on mine, and Cristal Easy Pro AR on my son's. However, my son's lenses have a blue hue in the reflection and Easy Pro should look green (see pic). Additionally, my invoice listed DuraVision Platinum, which would have a blue hue and green is clearly visible in the picture. We did not receive certificates of authenticity for Transitions or Crizal, which both companies say should've been included. It took just over 3 weeks to receive my glasses. Our insurance was blamed, but I would have gladly paid full price and filed a claim directly with them. Instead, no updates were provided and, once I inquired 10 days later, they ordered them after seemingly forgetting. I asked at that time to cancel my order, but they refused. Since receiving the incorrect lenses, I asked to have them replaced, but they again refused.

I took the risk of calling the morning I was leaving town to return to school. I was sure they would tell me that I was going to have to come back to Athens another time, but they didn't! I was so amazed. I went to Thomas Eye Center right away and I wasn't even through filling out the paperwork before they were leading me into the room to start the exam. The people there were so nice to me and didn't make me feel bad about calling at the last second. And they really knew what they were doing! I've been to a lot of optometrists in my day, and no one has ever been has comforting and easy to work with as these guys. Especially the doctor, Dr. Noriko. She was younger, maybe mid twenties, but was obviously very knowledgable and trustworthy. I honestly probably would have let her touch my eyeball if she needed to, I had that much faith in her. And she was calming. Being in any kind of doctor's office makes me a little uneasy, but her voice was really soothing and pleasant to listen to, and she put me right at ease. The doctors there were very efficient. I must have been in and out of there in 45 minutes. Or, at least, I would have been if my father hadn't needed to speak to the lady handling the insurance and money issues. He can be a little wearing when it comes to money, but she was very patient and kind with him, which I admire. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be going anywhere else for my optical necessities. I want to tell everyone I know in the Athens area to go to Thomas Eye Center on Baxter St., and don't forget to ask for Dr. Noriko!!

Seems more expensive than other similar services in the area Very expensive for sending replacement glasses if you need them mailed in the US---I was told overnight delivery to a US address would be $80-$100 , so we used US Postal Service overnight for $34 (and that included $200 insurance).

Tanger Outlets Commerce - Where Reviewers Are Many, But Enforcement Is... Selective…read more As someone who reviews shopping centers often--on both Yelp and Google--I've come to expect a certain level of consistency, especially from a well-established outlet brand like Tanger. Usually, sharing photos and feedback is welcomed. Encouraged, even. At Tanger Locust Grove, I posted a review with photos and was personally thanked by the owner. But at Tanger Commerce, I discovered something quite different. While taking a few standard photos during my visit (like I've done at dozens of malls - some with almost 100k views), I was approached by a security guard, followed from across the complex from Nike to Marshall's, photographed, and informed that photography is prohibited unless I had a press or media pass. When I identified myself as a reviewer, hoping for some clarity or even conversation, I was met with suspicion and stone-faced enforcement. My boss makes me enforce this rule I was told - leaving me wondering who his boss is, as from the owners replies to other posts it clearly isn't them. Here's where it really gets confusing: a multitude of other reviewers--on both Yelp and Google--have uploaded photos of storefronts, interiors, signage, merchandise, and even selfies at this very location. Entire photo carousels exist, ranging from fashion displays to food court visits, without a whisper of consequence. One reviewer even uploaded 14 photos on Google and was publicly thanked by management for their "great review" and "wonderful experience." only a month ago. So I ask: if photos are truly not allowed here, why is enforcement only aimed at some of us? Why the inconsistency? And more importantly--where are the signs? None were visible. No policy posted. Just a sudden switch from shopping to being surveilled. Reviewers, take note: If you're documenting your experience, know that Commerce enforces its "rules" selectively. You may be ignored like the 50 reviewers before you--or you may get followed, photographed, and reminded you're not welcome to record your visit. P.S. - I'm not being paid for my reviews, nor do I have anything to gain from this. I just enjoy helping people find great places to spend their time and hard-earned money. But this place? This wasn't it and recommend it I do not.

The Buford location is where bulk groceries meet competitive cart driving and free samples become a full contact sport. Every Saturday I chauffeur my 75 year old mother to what she calls "running errands" and what I now recognize as her weekly social hour. She insists on arriving at peak crowd density, the exact moment when parking spots become mythical creatures and shoppers circle like vultures waiting for someone to load a 50 pack of paper towels into their trunk. Mom treats the place like a scenic walking tour. We visit every aisle. Not most. Not the important ones. All of them. I have learned more about industrial mayonnaise, kayak pricing, and seasonal patio heaters than any human should. Meanwhile I treat the sample stations like a carefully planned tasting menu. The staff is generous, the portions are respectable, and with the right timing and a strategic lap route you can revisit your favorites without raising suspicion. I am not saying I built a loop system around the frozen dumplings, but I am also not denying it. Mom, however, has become something of a celebrity. For reasons unknown she attracts a steady stream of senior gentlemen piloting motorized carts who deliver pickup lines that have not been road tested since 1958. "Hey there, young lady." "Need a ride?" "I come here for the deals and now I know why." She responds with polite disinterest while I perform defensive maneuvers worthy of a Secret Service agent, gently redirecting traffic away from my mother and back toward the rotisserie chickens. This week's victory was finding a solid jump starter for my truck battery. Nothing says successful Costco run like leaving with an item you actually intended to buy, along with emotional exhaustion and a faint smell of sample pizza. This store would earn five stars, but inventory roulette keeps it at four. They do not always have the advertised items, and the restocking attention does not seem as tight as the Duluth or Athens locations. Nothing crushes the spirit quite like planning your bulk buy strategy only to find an empty pallet and a lonely price tag. Still, Costco Buford is a magical place, part warehouse, part buffet, part retirement age speed dating arena. I will be back next Saturday at peak hours, pushing the cart, circling the dumplings, and guarding Mom from the Romeo squadron.

I have use these same frames (I have a couple) to make lenses with almost the same prescription with other offices and the results have been great. The sunglasses I received from this office had a noticeable "fishbowl" effect. My other pair with the same exact frames and almost the same prescription were cut and produced very nicely with no problems. What actually bothered me was the response when I raised this concern. They repeatedly said this is due to my prescription and the curve of my frames even as I showed them the much better crafted lenses in my other identical frame - demonstrating it was possible to produce lenses for this frame without the problems that it had. When I asked if they could ask the lab to produce quality similar to the pair I had they basically said no. In other offices, without my even having to make that request, the staff told me they noticed the curve of the lenses and that they would personally call the lab and direct them to ensure the lenses were produced without the fishbowl effect and fitting the curvature of the frames well. Briggs needs to hold its lab to higher standards and to offer that level of advocacy for its customers - it's pretty basic for opticians to do that as they work with their eyeglass labs. Unfortunately that type of response means I will have to switch back to the office I used to go to even though it is in Roswell, 30 minutes away. At least I will get better crafted eyeglasses.
