Unethical Practices…read more Attention DAVIS VISION participants. I went for a standard contact eye exam using my Davis Vision insurance. The doctor at Clio Vision is very nice, neat and thorough. I told both the doctor and his side kick I shop for contacts online. I asked twice before leaving about what my copay for the exam was as I fully intended to pay that day. I was told to wait until they determined my prescription was correct. I was called back a few days later to pick up my "trial lenses". I was told their contacts are ordered through 1 800 Contacts and if I wanted to compare pricing, I should refer to 800 Contacts website. I ended up selecting an online resource that gave me a year of contacts for $199 versus $400 with 800 Contacts. I qualify for a $30 kick back from Davis even though my contact provider was out of network-still a cost savings for me. After submitting the claim to Davis 6 -8 weeks after my vision exam, I was told that I had already used my vision benefit for the year and my insuance claim was denied. I contacted Davis and asked why I did not qualify and was told their records indicated I had ordered contacts through Clio Vision. Davis called Clio Vision when I was on hold and was told I had purchased and received contacts through Clio Vision. I was furious and Davis told me It was between me and Clio Vision. I immediately contacted Clio Vision and was on hold for a long time before anyone would actually talk to me. I was told they had "ordered" contacts for me. I told them I never authorized nor had I received anything from them and that I had stated I would most likely place an order online. Clio Vision then said they would call and clarify with Davis that I had not received contacts through them. After Clio Vision cleared up the issue with Davis, they then called me back and told me I now owe them $40 for the upcharge for a contact exam. Bottom line, if I had not requested my $30 kick back on my lenses from Davis, Clio Vision would have scammed Davis submitting a claim for contacts on my behalf. Because I forced them to withdraw the claim for contacts, they were going to charge me an upcharge for the contacts exam. I have worn contacts for 35 - 40 years and this is a first for me! It will be the last for my seeking service at Clio Vision. I consider this unethical behavior at best and i am sure we are both happy to part ways!
