Before getting back on the road I needed to pick up some essentials and toiletries. Seeing that this was here I was going to brave it and run in as quick as I could. I came in and went right to the sections I needed and grabbed what I could. Not everything I needed was stocked and what they did have I had to search for. I anticipated needing a cart, but in reality I honestly could have carried everything in the end. I walked around and browsed other sections. I went to their clearance section and nothing was of interest in this area. I made my way to the front of the store and opted for the self checkout so I could get out of the store and back on the road. I hate that it's almost like walking through security when exiting a Walmart now. It's not fun to almost be searched even though you have your bags and receipt in hand. read more

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, at approximately 12:44 p.m., I visited the Walmart in Shrewsbury, PA. Before reaching the checkout, my experience had been excellent. I purchased balloons in the Electronics Department, where the associates were professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful. In fact, I have never had a bad experience with the Electronics team. One associate even suggested I purchase balloon weights from the Party section because they were smaller and less expensive than buying them elsewhere. I appreciated the recommendation. Unfortunately, my experience changed completely when I reached the checkout. The cashier, Mary, immediately questioned my balloon purchase and asked to see my receipt. While I understand that stores have policies to verify purchases, I politely asked why customers are asked to show receipts at the register when they are also checked again at the exit. Instead of simply explaining the policy, Mary became rude and confrontational. She responded by implying that I "must be guilty of something." That comment was completely unnecessary, unprofessional, and insulting. The interaction continued to escalate. Rather than de-escalating the situation, Mary began asking personal questions, including whether I even had a job. Those questions had absolutely nothing to do with my purchase and were inappropriate, disrespectful, and humiliating. When we noticed a manager walking by, we tried to express our concerns about how we had just been treated. Instead of remaining with her customers, Mary left her register and inserted herself into our conversation with the manager in a confrontational manner. That behavior only reinforced how unprofessional the situation had become. The manager's response was equally disappointing. She briefly stated that she would talk to Mary, but her tone, body language, and demeanor made it clear that she wanted to end the conversation as quickly as possible. She avoided engaging with our concerns, appeared dismissive, and walked away without showing any genuine interest in resolving the issue or apologizing for our experience. Customer service is about treating people with dignity and respect. Being questioned, accused, insulted, and then dismissed by management is not acceptable. One unpleasant interaction can overshadow an otherwise positive shopping experience, and that's exactly what happened here. I sincerely hope Walmart addresses this situation. No customer should leave feeling disrespected after simply trying to make a purchase. read more

It is what it is - I've been to worse but if given the choice would go to Target instead. Good prices on the basics and brand name items like Pepsi or Cheerios, but produce and meat are lacking. Oddly enough this place consistently has the most goat cheese products in stock around, so sometimes you never know what you'll find. The employees have always been nice, but I didn't like when I went recently and saw a manager publicly yelling at his employee in the bakery until she looked like she was going to cry. Odd tip - they keep the small carts outside most of the time; they always have way better wheels than the big ones so unless you are getting a lot of stuff, get one of the small ones to avoid more irritation. read more

When fairly reviewing discount stores like Walmart, one has to grade it on a curve. The bathrooms are clean, and the employees friendly - representative of the small town of Shrewsbury, PA. Items are well stocked and the store itself is clean. Prices are your usual low prices of a Walmart. I checked Walmart's online inventory because I was in search of lighter fluid for the zippo lighter that I purchased from this same location. Online inventory stated that they did in fact carry it. This store is the closest Walmart to my home (20 minute drive). When I arrived I asked a store representative where to find the fluid. They said I could find it in isle 15 with the cigarettes. The woman working that check out isle informed me that they do not carry it and haven't for some time. She was extremely rude and offered absolutely zero assistance. She represents what I've come to expect from Walmart employees. When I explained to her that the online inventory said they had it, she rolled her eyes and refused to even look for it. Fuck Walmart, and fuck that old lady. A word of advice, do not shop at this store. There are many other stores around with employees that actually care about customer service and WANT to earn your business. read more

Having a Walmart Supercenter in the small town of Shrewsbury is definitely a benefit, especially at 3:00 am. Their grocery prices are cheaper than Giant or Saubels. They added self check out. That's where the benefits stop. They have one of the worst inventory replenishment systems I've ever experienced. This goes for the grocery, main store, and pharmacy. Once they run out of something, there's no telling when the product will be available. Never rely on the online inventory application. Next, and most importantly, is their ability to overcharge you on every trip to the store. If you do not self check out, you absolutely must pay attention to the display of what is being scanned. Know the prices of the items you are buying! Their computer system is not in sync with the prices on the shelves. You are never undercharged, it's always overcharged, even if it's just a couple of cents. Normally you won't notice this until you get home. You can go to customer service and they will never dispute the overcharge, always refunding you. That becomes a real pain and inconvenience, if you don't live in Shrewsbury. Sometimes their displays show a price, but in really small lettering it shows/lb. You can hardly see the per pound at the bottom and are surprised when it's scanned at an outrageous price. My best advice is to pay close attention to prices and what you are charged. Furthermore, never expect consistency when it comes to availability. read more

Everytime I decided to use the self check out. I'm always being accused of stealing or not fully completing my purchases. One time a lady just took the trash bin out of my cart and double scanned it. After I already scanned the trash can. So she had to remove the double charge. Ironically,it only happens to people of color. My last straw came tonight when my husband was accused of not paying. The clerk snatched his bag out of his cart accusing him of stealing. Only discovered he made two separate transactions. Meanwhile other folks are just freely ringing up their items with no problem. They consistently have fruit flies in the bakery cases, expired bread on shelves and very rude staff except for a couple of really helpful and kind cashiers. This is one of the worst walmart stores I've ever been to. Unfortunately, it is the closest one to home. Update: The bakery has stepped up their game since a new doughnut shop opened up a few stores down. The apple fritters are excellent except there were several long black hairs in my last box. Still have to check expiration dates closely. Even though they reorganized the store, it is still cluttered and difficult to maneuver. There is some new staff on board who are very pleasant. They have also added a self checkout section. I added another star for the bakery improving their quality and selection. Hopefully there will never be another hair in the fritters. read more

Okay, Walmart is Walmart. I have no particular complaints or praises for this one other than this- as a "Super Walmart" the grocery section should pay more attention to its local market. A grocery store in this area, just above the central Mason Dixon line has no business ignorning local staples. There's no local crab meat, no oysters, no braunschweiger and no fresh sauerkraut EVEN DURING HOLIDAYS. You don't *not* have sauerkraut around here at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Around here, that's like not having white bread! Even a regular shopper here is forced to go elsewhere during the holidays. Ignoring these things adds greatly to the generic *WalMart* feel. In general, they do a good job. The produce and meat are above average quality for the area. Other departments suffice. I see others complaining they can't find this or that specific product - It's Wal*Mart- not the internet. I just think they should stay in tune with the local customers for general needs. I ask for crab meat (a staple here) not sushi grade yellowtail tuna. read more

This is my home town Wally World and the people here are great. No hassle returns and a polite customers and staff make this Walmart respectable. Unlike walmarts in the the York area, there is usually a lane or two open that do not require a long wait. Like I said, the staff are very helpful and respectful. I've only had one problem in the last 15 years, and I haven't seen that staff member since. Yes, I agree that there are a few awkward run ins, but most of the time people mind their business. You won't find loud, noisy people dropping "f bombs" and yelling about welfare checks. If my family needs groceries, toiletries, sports equipment, baby needs, pet supplies, and other odds and ends, this is where we go. 15 minutes from home makes it super convenient and saves us more "family" time, to spend together at a baseball game, farmer's market, or art show. read more

As I used to work here at walmart in the Philly Pretzel Factory I have been able to watch how employees of walmart act with customers and I didn't really notice anything until I quit and I come to walmart every day just no one has seemed to notice me before I worked there and after I would get off work I would walk around walmart. When I finally left my job I have started to get noticed more often going into walmart. I have seen some very rude employees as one named stacy she works in customer service I was walking into walmart still in the parking lot with my mother and she said to me "you are here more then when you worked here" I found it extremely rude and so did my mom. As we were walking into the front door my mother turned and said "You are technically a customer now and that's extremely rude of her". I wanted to go back and say to her that "there is nothing really to do in this small town and as of my knowledge you never knew me before I started working here so I don't understand how you can say that" I just found it completely rude.. read more

If I could give this store no stars I would. I ordered a children's tent online to be picked up in store. The receipt (email and printable version) did not give clear instructions on where to pick up the item I ordered, so we first head to customer service, waited in line for 10 minutes and we were then directed to the back of the store to the photo department. We wait another ten minutes only to have the woman working the photo area bring out the completely wrong tent and proceed to argue with us that it was the one we ordered, that they can not pick up anything that is not correct and we were wrong. First rule of customer service - the customer is always right. Especially if they have the receipt with an image to prove it. Because it was the wrong tent, we left the photo department and walked to the camping section, and with less than a minute of looking, found two of the correct style of tent in the incorrect color/pattern. Upon taking this correct style of tent back to the photo department, I was lucky enough to stumble upon the store's assistant manager . I asked that they check and see if they had the print we ordered originally in that style, as there was an empty self with that ticket number and item description directly above the self where we found the same style of tent. Because there was no item number for the tent in the pattern we wanted, we were told "sorry, best we can do is try and order it." My complaint towards this store is not simply a matter of the staff not getting us the correct item we ordered - frustrating, yes, but this rant-worthy? No. The system of ordering online and picking up an item in store is obviously flawed if you can not get the correct item to the customer. To offer a service that is supposed to make the customers life easier, then you need to follow through, be able to find the correct items (no matter what the item number) and work to get those items to the customer in an efficient, timely manner. This seems to be a problem greater than this one store but obviously needs to be addressed. My biggest problem with this store is the lack of customer service and general poor attitude of the staff. Working with the public is a challenge. Yet no matter where you work you should approach your job with a sense of pride and an attitude of respect. Respect for yourself, for the company you work for and most especially the customers who are the ones supporting the store and in turn supporting you. To start out your interaction with a customer in a negative way is a turn off, to then provide the customer with the incorrect product and then argue that it is the one from the system that was ordered and that the customer was wrong is completely inappropriate. A simple "I'm sorry ma'am, let's work together to fix this problem" would have been a much better start to a solution when the error was first noticed. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this store. I will not recommend this store to others. I will be writing to corporate in regards to the flaw in the system of online ordering and in store pick up. And I would highly suggest some intensive customer service training for staff. People, process and product are what make a business - and right now, WalMart, you seem to be failing on all accounts. read more

Store Shrewsbury, Pa 17361 #2519 I find the availability of common shopped items stocked on shelves in VERY POOR STATE at this sore. I enjoy and weekly had purchased the following at your store in the past. BUT due to no longer stored on shelves and store personnel advising it is your vendors fault I wonder about the the Appropriate Management skills at this store. 1. Canada Dry ginger Ale in six pack not available for 5 weeks. 2. IBC Root Beer six pack. 10 days missing from shelves. 3. Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheese not available regularly and not at all in large logs. These are a few. The store is very much under staffed especially in the lunch meat area. Long lines are regular only due to a lack of staff at the area to help. I work with the public. I know that you are selling only service and convenience. Does any of this sound like that??? My daughter took her car into Walmart Shrewsbury today to have 4 new tires put on that I ordered through Walmart.com. During the process of removing a tire, the technician damaged a lug nut and then could not get the tire off. I contacted the store manager Oscar, who simply stated since they "told" us they could not get the tire off then they considered it OUR problem, not the fact that they damaged the damned lug nut--they still don't get that part. So basically I now have to pay $125 additional somewhere else where they are competent to get the lug nut off. Thanks Walmart!!! You screw up and you take NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT--lost a customer here count on it. read more

Definitely worth going across the street to Giant for fruit and Deli. Have gotten meat from the deli counter multiple times and it has slimy, shiny multicolored stuff on it. I don't think they throw it out when they are supposed to. They maybe wait till it's mostly used. The prices on fruit and deli aren't always much better either. read more

When I first moved to Pa., this Walmart was wonderful - I used to go there primarily for groceries. But for the past year or so, it has gone downhill so much, that I have started going to the competitors. Half of the shelves are not properly stocked - they seem to be out of just about everything I need - the associates are few and cannot be found - they have a skeleton crew covering every department, even during the busiest times - they no longer carry the items the used to - and even the associates and customer representatives behind the counters agree with this --- it is not a happy place to be anymore!! There are two other grocery stores in the area where the associates are helpful and the shelves are stocked. I would give this NO STARS - but that is not an option. read more
