    Well... There it is
    Aaron W.

It's hilarious how little this Walmart has at any given time. Seriously, they are always stocking shelves, but never have that one item you really came in for. It's comical. They seem to get a new manager every year or so - and every one of them says the same thing: "things are going to change around here." "We're working to get better every day." But the sad reality is, we all know things won't change. It's Walmart. It's the only 24-hour facility in the area that people can go to to get whatever they want - except that one item you really came for. You want friendly service? Smile... You might get a smile back once the cashier looks up from her latest text message. Friendly enough, I guess. But seriously, what are you honestly looking for when you go to Walmart? You're looking for groceries. Or toilet paper. Or diapers. Or pharmaceuticals... You can get those at the pharmacy inside or from the car outside with dark tinted windows. They have the necessities. They have what you need. And they stay open for 24 hours. That's why we go to Walmart. And that's why we will continue to go to Walmart. There may not be any cashiers at any register if you go in extremely late... or really, even at 6 in the afternoon. But that doesn't matter. You can use the one self register that works and check yourself out. Oh, also, they have 2 Redbox machines! One on either entrance. So, that's a plus.

Without a doubt the worst Walmart on the planet. Sadly, it's the only one close to most people on the Westside so we have to patronize it.

From what was there you could enjoy a quick walk through and try I stopped by with only about fifteen minutes to spare, so many of the outdoor vendors were already wrapping up for the day. Even with the limited time, I still enjoyed a quick walk‑through of the remaining booths. There were samples to try and a handful of local items available -- fresh herbs, fruits, vegetables, small‑batch foods, and baked goods. It was just enough to give me a taste of what the full experience must be like earlier in the day. The indoor area was still lively. Several food courts were open, offering coffee, teas, smoothies, baked goods, and a variety of lunch options. The inside vendors gave a great sense of the everyday energy of the market. I'll definitely be back earlier in the day to experience everything fully and see all the vendors in action.

The time has come for me to update my review of the Red Stick Farmers Market! I can honestly say it…read moreis one of the greatest things about Baton Rouge. It allows residents and visitors to buy fresh locally grown produce and more from small businesses in our community. There are all sorts of vegetables, fungi, and fruits (in season) but that's only the start. One can buy meats and seafood at the Market, as well as dairy products. Then there are the plant vendors, who sell everything from houseplants to garden plants. Then there are the craftspeople who sell things ranging from soap, to canned goods, to baked goods. There's the food vendors as well, in the Main Street Market (which is open weekdays and Saturdays), and at the market tables. There's often live music performed by local artists. There's events for the kids, and adults as well, with themed weekends all summer. Things that emphasize the local produce availing in that time. These can include cooking demonstrations and activities for all ages. There's plenty of free parking in the Galvez Garage, and in inclement weather the market moves inside on the first floor of the Garage so it goes on rain or shine. Going to the Farmers Market is an important weekly event for many people, including me. Give it a try, and you can come to enjoy it as well.

Known for their delicious and diverse king cakes, they have all sorts of treats and special items. If they don't have it, they can usually order it as well. I was searching for a unique beer to bring some friends, and they have one of the largest and most unique selections in the state. The list of beers is growing every week as well. It's almost overwhelming all the different types, but hey, just go back and get another kind later! Their chicken salad is probably the best in town. It has flavor and larger pieces of chicken, so it's not a spread like others in town. Their pimento spread is great for parties as well. They have tons of different cheeses and olives and different Calandros brand goodies. Their produce is always fresh and reliable. They don't tend to cater to special diets, so if you have special dietary needs or restrictions, you may have to go to another store for those. But by nature, you can find items that will work for you. Top all of that with friendly owners, friendly staff, and friendly people all around, and it always makes an enjoyable shopping experience!
