So grateful to have This Publix so close to home. It has THE very best Produce Dept I have ever…read moreseen in Boston, Minneapolis, Brooklyn Heights, Westchester County! Our beloved internist Dr Adamarie Multari in Executive Health at Mayo Clinic told us just before retiring," we don't know HOW it works or why yet, but eat a lot of fresh fruit and fresh vegetables. It does incredible things for your body!" Everything in this Produce Dept is in super pristine AMAZING shape thanks to the staff scouring and meticulously extracting pieces that are deteriorating. Ask any staff how to tell when the fruits ripen. The black plums are heavenly in their sweet nectar juiciness when soft. I add slices to my ripe melon salads with thin slices of banana! During corn season there were tables piled high at a great price and by evening everyday, they were left bare. I love the white corn and yellow/ white corn that you put in a pipping hot steamer for just 3 minutes. Beet greens and fresh apricots have the highest amount of natural vitamin A - - combats/ helps prevent cancer. My dad, a prof of biochemistry, gave us skills in preventive medicine and counseled us against preservatives and hydrogenated fats in foods. This store has wonderful vaulted ceilings going up 15 + feet streaming beautiful rays of sunshine upon us as we peacefully shop. This past year they modernized and greatly improved/ made much safer the entire walking area in the front of the store. And finally, this store is SO clean, and I truly enjoy ALL the delightful staff throughout the store ( many have been there for years ). Need help/ have a question/ order meat with the butcher? Just walk up and ask. They are terrific!!!! ...I. even have a favorite older check out person.

This is one of the worst Publix in the area. I used to find it convenient even though there's a…read moremuch nicer location very close to where I live but with the Target next door to this one I would kill two birds with one stone. That is until a few weeks ago when I was chased down in the parking lot after loading my trunk and putting my carriage away with a worker yelling out "YOU NEED TO COME BACK INSIDE YOU DIDN'T PAY!!!!" I was confused at first as I knew I did pay and secondly annoyed as the very elderly gentleman who had served me had taken a very long time to do so and I was now in a rush to get to my next location. Upon being "escorted" back inside by this worker I pulled up my Bank of America app and saw that I had in fact been charged for what I bought at Publix. I let this man know and with his adrenaline running he said "you'll have to work it out with them!" finally we reach a manager who became apologetic and stated that the old man who rung me up then continued to serve another customer on my bill ...going to MY CARD. Yet I was made to look like I had robbed the place in the parking lot. How quickly this employee's reaction went from thinking he had found a huge thief to completely sheepish. All in all it was an okay run while it lasted (I say okay because as previously mentioned it's not that great of a Publix to miss in the first place) but on principal I will never ever shop here again.

Every time I go to Detwiler's, it moves up in the rankings. Between the sushi, the ice cream, and…read morethe fresh made bowls, we don't need to dine out when we're at the Siesta Key house. The only drawback - which is not Detwilers fault, is the clientele in this area are awful. The absolute dregs of society. Can't drive, including pushing a cart, without manners, rude, pushy, and self absorbed. The staff make up for it though, with absolute kindness, generosity and generally pleasant to deal with. So if you ignore the customers, you're good! Of course the store is immaculate, everything is in good order well stocked and clean. Such a pleasant experience- sans the customers, it really is tied for first place in Sarasota.

I haven't been in awhile but love the new layout of the store. Seems like it was needed to fit all the products and to make the aisles more easily accessible. The line for sandwiches was 5 people deep, lines at all the checkout counters as well. Bought fresh peaches, cucumbers, potatoes, and more. Rave: do NOT leave the store with one of the new blueberry handpies. This is probably the best handpie I've ever had. I popped it in the airfryer and it came out so flaky and gooey. Not insanely sweet either. Wish I bought more of them. Ate it too quickly to get a photo so I looked one up, it's wrapped in parchment paper and in a basket next to the donuts.

If you…read morearen't familiar with Aldi it's a German hyper-efficent shopping experience where you need: - A quarter to get a shoppong cart, you get it back when you return it - You bag your own groceries - It's a curated grocery experience so they have most of what you need but no assortment of brands or sizes. Aldi is in the Trader.Joe's family. There are some tastt chocolates and specialty items. Prices are low low low. Seasonal product specialties are offered. Even though.the prices are low theu habe some gourmet foods and fun specialty products. Detweilers in Venice is great too especially for certain produce and local fare, though.the store is tifht and busy. Aldi is a great option too and saves you money. But it's not for everyone. Industrial and German effiency can come off as cold and impersonal. Comforst tourself with inexpensive German chocolate. A few other products to try are the German fish tins curry pineapple and more, coomies, and seasonal treats.
