“I'm not a Walmart hater, which is rare for someone on Yelp, but I admit that there are locations and times in which they are just cesspools of humanity.”

You ever drive 13 hours, check into your hotel room, and realize you don't have any Bud Light?…read more Well, that happened to me a few months ago in Las Cruces... a town I'd never visited before. I kissed my bride and asked her to bid me good luck, as I went down to the Jeep in the hotel parking lot, fired it up, and started driving... looking for a supermarket or a liquor store. Really, I knew I would need the former. Because invariably, when we're hotel livin'-- even if only for one night and an early morning the next day-- everyone starts thinking of stuff they need once one of us heads out for supplies. Sure enough, the texts started flying: Get ice cream! Get chips and salsa! Get quesadilla-makings! Get fat-free fig newtons! Yeah, it turns into a shopping list. ... which is also why I don't just put "supermarket" into Yelp and drive there... because by the time I start getting the texts, if I got there too quickly, I'm already heading back to the hotel, and then I have to turn around, and I'm all antsy and ticked (both bugs... weird, right?) Instead, I enjoy that little time to myself in the car driving around a town I don't know, -- no idea if I'm heading towards the main drag with all the stores, or a bad part of town, or a neighborhood, or into a top secret military installation or whatever. Fun. Well, no Army base this time... just found this Albertsons, and pulled into the parking lot. I did drive through a neighborhood to get here though, so that was cool. Inside, it was a lot like the Albertsons seven blocks from my house; except this one was pretty much devoid of people, the parking lot was dark and small-town eerie, and things were cheaper than SoCal. The gal who rang me up didn't say much to me or really look up and acknowledge me despite my Chatty Cathy doll impersonation, so that felt more like the Albertsons experience I've come to know. Albertson's may be "Your Store," but no one there is engaging you in conversation on the matter. Anyway, I went in for a twelve-pack, and left with a $70 order. Oh well, at least everyone was happy. Can't imagine when I'll be back in Las Cruces, NM... let alone when I'll be there AND need to go to an Albertsons. But hey-- if both of those two variables align, I'll be back here again.

This is a neat little grocery with some amazing finds. I stopped here twice while in Las Cruces for…read morework. The selection of premade foods was a little lacking but they all but made up for it in their drink, bakery, and chocolate selections. This store reminded me of a miniature, hipper, Whole Foods. With friendly folks and a fun health food type spin on most of their products. They do have grab and go lunch/dinner options found near the deli which I appreciated. The kombucha selection was almost overwhelming ans I was excited to try so many different kinds! I'll be back the next time I'm in New Mexico for sure! Pro-tip: the chocolate section is near the cashiers toward the front. They have some amazing artisinal chocolates my personal favorite being the Cartel Chocolate made in ABQ. Don't pass it up!

This is a nice market equipped with enough of the basics to get you what you need. A decent produce…read moreselection and a small meat counter. I wasn't sure how big the meat section was going to be, it is small and quaint but quality meat. There was also a nice selection of teas and coffees with some being local choices. I also saw some local made soap and honey which I love. I love supporting local and small businesses. Even though I purchased nothing last night, I'll be back for another shopping trip. I think this place is probably more ideal for fresh foods for a meal that day rather than a big grocery shop.

On Sunday I revisited the same Albertsons store and checked out through a checkout counter that had…read morea person working it. I asked about my bad experience on Friday and was taken very seriously with great attention and understanding. I asked if there were official times the checkout counters were not open and only the self checkout was available so elderly people could avoid shopping. I was told "Not really" but I could always go to the main desk and request someone to assist me with checkout. Because it's the beginning of the school year, traffic patterns are changing and occasionally they get short staffed. I felt very reassured that a staff member working there truly cared about what had happened to me, was willing to apologize and could suggest a work around for next time. I would revise my rating of the store upward based on today's encounter. It was nice to be seen as a human being and a familiar customer and not just a cog in the money machine that wouldn't fit.

Just went to Albertsons in Las Cruces - on the corner of Lohman. I did not have a nice experience…read moreand will not be back. The checker was rude and not helpful at all. As stated in another review, you have to have your phone in hand while shopping in order to get the digital coupons. I don't know how older people do it. I know its my responsibility to learn how to do this but when I've asked for help, I was told they couldn't help me and that to go to customer service. Today, I stated to the checker I was not sure how to put the digital coupons in the app. Reading the app upside down on my phone, the checker started to click on an item for me. I started to turn my phone around so he could see better and he said - NOPE! I was very embarrassed. During the week, the checkers are much more nicer. The ones on the weekend are usually very rude - talking to their colleagues, no thank you etc.
