After having an oil change and diagnostics done at a REAL mechanic on my car I was told my battery life was lower than recommend and I should look at replacing it. I was in town so I called Walmart to see if I needed an appt to get a specific battery installed or if I could walk in. I was told for this battery I could walk in, purchase, and they would install. This was the first lie. My husband went in and purchased the battery and after the fact Jason the auto "manager" said he wouldn't install it unless he bought a different battery. This was after already confirming there was installation. We ended up placing the battery in my car and immediately knew something was wrong because the battery light came on and the AC was not blowing consistently. This didn't even happen with my OLD battery I was told to replace. We took their battery back out and replaced it with my old battery and my husband returned to the store to exchange it for a new battery and the one they claim is the only one they offer install on. This is when Maya and Anthony decided to lie to a manager and tell them we are having car problems. It is not a problem with MY car when your battery doesn't work. I have proof of diagnostics on my car that there is nothing wrong with it and no dash light was on when I replaced it with my old battery. Jason said he "wasn't comfortable" putting a battery in my car claiming there was a problem with it when he didn't look at it or run diagnostics. It's very interesting because I have heard from numerous people that Jason actually doesn't replace the oil cap when he changes people's oil, causing more problems and money spent. But apparently when it involves a battery, or a Hispanic trying to have work done, he has "top notch" judgement in mechanics. Then, after speaking with Kristen on the phone she said there is no reason any of this should have happened and to return to the store to exchange the battery. She said we would need to speak to a "high level" manager to resolve this. So I go back to the store and I talk to Zach who claims to be a high level manager but I saw no evidence of this. His lack of managerial experience, accountability for his staff, and resolution was alarming. His name tag also said he was in stocking so I am unsure what relevance that has to management or to the auto center. Zach continued to regurgitate the lie of the auto department stating they would not return or exchange their faulty battery claiming that it was a problem with my car that they have never put hands on. He took no responsibility for the behavior of staff and he was recording me and every other customer there without consent using his Meta Glasses. I'm not sure what Walmarts policy is on staff recording customers but this is something everyone in that store should be aware of. Ultimately I left, contacted corporate, went to AutoZone who changed the battery for me, confirmed that Walmart sold me a faulty battery, and went to a different walmart location who DID refund me on the battery. read more

Me and my mother went to walmart in joplin missiouri, up on range line 20th. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I have a big family so we had a huge cart. My mother used scan and go because its easier for us so we can be in and out. Kelso watched us like a hawk when we went to pay. We were not flagged and he acted as if we were stealing. He was rude the whole time and multiple staff workers got involved including the manager. The manager was so sweet but the other workers who were involved were not. As we were bagging our items you could hear them talking about us. That is completely unacceptable. Kelso had to of been the worst worker there. Managers Ryan and Jennifer came to our rescue when we had driven 60 miles to pick up 2 youth kayaks for our twin granddaughters. Store employees indicated that the computer reflected 4 in stock but none could be located. Ryan and Jennifer were located and after some short discussions, were able to locate the kayaks and allow our grandchildren to have a wonderful day on the water. I was trying to purchase a 40 pound bag of grass seed in the gardening department. There was no one at the checkout station, but the keypad said to touch it if I needed assistance so I did. It told me there was an associate coming to me. I waited. An associate walked past me. Another associate walked past me. Several minutes had passed by so I took the 40 pound grass seed and walked all the way into the self checkout in the store, only to find two associates standing at the self check out talking to each other. I was at an attempt to purchase an item but was approached by a Walmart associate, upon their approach they demanded my ID and my siblings' ID. They are children and should not be asked of ID's. Her name is Karen and was working at the self check-out section, very old. Very unprofessional behavior, she said "good catch," when my ID was valid enough for the purchase. Hello I am a truck driver from the state of Nevada recently I got a job with a trucking company in Joplin MO and transported for orientation for two weeks before so I had to remove my J restriction and my valid ID was voided till my new ID arrives but had to depart before I received my replacement physical copy but I received a temporary DMV paper showing that my ID is valid until my new ID arrives as long as the paper is provided with the original ID it is considered valid form of identification. Recently my family had sent me some money so that I could purchase food for my stay through Walmart money gram services at the Walmart in Joplin Missouri. As soon as the employee seen my ID she said she could not accept it and needed manager approval which was fine but as soon as the manager arrived At about 2:15 pm she approached yelling at me saying she couldn't accept a expired ID and doesn't except paper either I proceeded to tell her that the ID is current only a modification was made so that I could continue driving trucks by lifting the J restriction she proceeded to tell me that she doesn't care because it's not a valid Missouri ID and asked me to leave which I did but I have never had such a terrible Walmart experience especially with a manager who was extremely disrespectful,unprofessional, unwilling to listen to questions or provide other options at least. There is no excuse for me to be treated this way regardless if it is policy to accept it or not. I am not from the state and unaware of policies at the Walmart in Joplin Missouri. So If you are not from here I recommend you stay clear as they are not welcome to outsiders. Corporate's customer service was nice though and will be looking into the matter. read more

I went to Walmart with my family to purchase a bike for my daughter. We waited 40 minutes by the bikes, asked 4 employees for assistance, each radioing for someone to assist, but nobody came. 6 young employees in groups walked by us standing at the bikes but continued to hangout and laughing with each other and walked on. I called customer service desk and requested assist as a last resort, she said "hold on" and hung up immediately. We waited another 10 minutes and decided to go home. when leaving the store, a kid demanded our receipt rudely and I expressed to him how terrible the experience and service was, he "shrugged" at me and we exited the store. She is probably racist as she assumed that the other group with us that was at the other self checkout was about to steal even though they just got there (We were the only Asians in the line). Our white friends who bought alcohol that turned 21 didn't even get an ID check from her and or did she bat an eye at them. I was turned away from your 7th Street Neighorhood Market because there 5 Gallon Water machine is broken. Came to this location to have the machine not spit out any tickets and was told to go to Customer Service. Waited 10-15 mins in the customer service line to be told to go wait in line at Aisle 13 for another 5-10 mins. The employee at this aisle has no idea what to do and I'm still waiting here... Very unorganized process and I'm very unhappy for my wait. Please fix this system and inform your employees on how to help the customer effectively. read more

Fresh food for the games today. Staff was friendly and helpful. Less than five minute wait in the line to check out. I went in with my husband today to buy formula for our daughter and tried to use a coupon from Enfamil..the cashier in the express lane didn't know how to run our coupon because it looks like a check and she called her supervisor over by the name of Kayla and Kayla argued with us telling us that they were not allowed to use them even though we've used them several times and she was incredibly rude and snobby about it. When we asked her to go get another supervisor or manager she refused to do so arguing claiming the other supervisors would tell us the same thing. We found another supervisor Heather whom has helped us several times and is really nice and she rang it up for us. Thanks Heather! I will be filing a complaint on this Kayla for she was rude and unhelpful and I'm very dissatisfied with her customer service. read more

Every time I go to this Walmart in Joplin, Mo on Rangeline the employees are the kindest most helpful that I've ever had the good fortune to meet! They always greet you whether they are at the entrance, stocking, over seeing a particular department, or cashier. They do not try to avoid you but in stead ask "how are you today, is there anything I can help you find" NOW THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Why doesn't wal mart hire more cashiers? There's never enough lanes open, Every time i go there you have to stand in line forever, I hate it. Are they so cheap that they wont hire anybody? I have seen others that get frustrated to for having to stand in line forever waiting. most of the time they may have 3 registers open on each end and two of them are for 20 items or less. Ugh, where to start? Where to start? I think the tornado tried to tell them something but they didn't listen. I have never seen a Walmart like this one and if I see another one, I hope not. Driving into this monstrosity you view the remains of former stores and businesses and the concrete junk left behind. It's like a war zone. Fail. Let's start from the beginning: Greeters. Either they look away or just don't know how to say hi. Either way, it's a waste of money. I asked one why the entrance and exit on one side of the store was opposite to how people normally walk and drive, that is left is right and right is left. No answer that was understandable. Fail. Pharmacy. Nasty. It is close to the entrance but not really planned very well. The workers there aren't very well planned either. So, pass on this Walmart pharmacy. I got RXs there for my mother once and it's not worth the hassle. Fail. The aisles near the pharmacy are too close together. It's hard for two carts to pass one another, assuming both are sticking to the rules of the road of the rest of the country and traveling on the right. Fail. Employees have a special sort of dumbness that other stores find hard to match. I was looking for a certain type of sealer and asked an employee about it. Told him what I wanted it for and what I was looking for. Didn't have it he swore on the grave of his mother. Five minutes later I looked him up with the item in hand that he swore that they didn't stock, carry or have. Fail. And he was old enough that he could read! I guess they probably had to have another funeral as I bet his mother sat up in her grave after that whopper. Looking for a DVD set. I asked the little dude working in that department if they had this set. No, no, no. A couple of minutes later the lady I was with found it. I had to explain to him, like the other one, here it is. I didn't utter the usual accompanying words that go with such a talk. Fail. To be fair, I don't think he could read. Fresh produce. Or I think they claim it's fresh. More like mystery fruit. Fresh means anything from tan to brown but not black, right? They're trying to be like whole foods on this one. I recommend that you bring a flashlight with you. Yes, it's that dark in that area. I'm surprised that there hasn't been several muggings here since it's so dark. This is the department where they separate the men from the boys--with a crowbar. Fail. Side of the wall. It isn't rocket science. You are at spot X looking down the wall for what you're shopping for, but can't because the wall jogs out in a stupid triangle and you can only see 10 feet or so. Then have to walk another ten feet or so and then a few more and a few more and finally walk out the store. Thanks Walmart for making people walk more, get their cardio and walk out without what they were looking for because they gave up. They were probably looking for something fattening anyway. Fail. Say thank you or you're welcome. Guess they don't know those words up there. Buy something, get the receipt, say thank you and get a blank stare like a cow looking into a headlamp of a car. Only difference is that the cow will get out of the road if you honk your horn. And a cow can give milk. A Walmart employee can only give you a blank stare. Fail. The parking lot is an adventure in race car driving, to say the least. Designed well below the average below average Walmart parking lot, drive with extra caution when entering or leaving the premises. It doesn't help that it seems like there's a liquor store on every corner. Just saying. Well, hey, it's true. Prices. They think that they're the only game in town and it shows. If they had a prize for worst Walmart in the U.S., they'd get my vote and many others. Incidentally, there are other food stores in town besides this place with better prices. Going back to the tornado. I asked an employee (I refuse to call them ASSociates) did they build a shelter since so many people died there. I was told their bathrooms are their shelters. Well, that certainly worked out well in the last storm. Fail. Kudos to Home depot just down the road who actually built a reinforced shelter with a steel door for such an unlikely event in the future, unlike this place. Looks like money is the bottom line, customer service a sport to see who can be the worst, and this is worth visiting only if you're a sadist. I don't understand how they can get away with such bad service when the other Walmart in town is decent and the one just to the north in Webb City is by far better the better one in the whole area. I find no reason to shop at this location due to the staff not knowing what they're doing, the parking lot being a hazard zone, the prices a bit above average and the general demeanor of the whole place just being there with an attitude of if you don't like it...tough. I am officially done with this Wal-Mart. Rude. Rude. Rude. These people are miserable with both their jobs and their lives and they show it. I can't count the number of times I've been walking down the isles and heard the employees complaining about their jobs, customers, co-workers, their personal lives, or just being negative in general. The bathrooms are always filthy, the customer service station is always understaffed and the wait is ridiculous. Same with the registers. They are always understaffed, and the lines are always long whether or not it's a 10 or 20 items or less line. The only time I've ever had a pleasant experience with any of these people is when I've checked out in the garden section with Kurt, Curt, Curtis, can't remember his name exactly but give him a raise, he's totally cool and the only decent part about this awful place. He is always friendly and always tries to make people laugh. Ultimately, I have stopped shopping here or at any of it's sister stores. I now shop at Food4Less, Target, Walgreens, Dollar General, and even Dollar Tree. I even drive across town sometimes to shop at Harps (I love Harps) to avoid shopping at Wal-Mart. Very disappointing to visit Walmart anymore The manager is very disingenuous. . The store employees very rude and obnoxious. Wal-Mart is too big and they know it. Losing a customer or two is no big deal for them. They have lost focus of their own business model based on the foundation of customer service. Customer service is paramount to a business for its survival. They know that they can afford to lose customers and feel any effects. The store had a very clean feeling and had a variety of different sauces that we were looking for and the checkout was fairly easy to do.

I've been in quite a few of the walmart stores in the area but keep coming back to this location even though it's not my local Wal-Mart store. It seems they carry a good selection of fans for summertime. I like how they have them set up on display plugged in and ready to try out. The have a wider selection of fans than any other store in the area and that includes other department stores. This Wal-Mart has items that can't be found in other Wal-Mart stores in the area. read more
