This was a quick stop as I realized this morning that I did not bring enough tshirts on this trip. I was able to find two unoffensive graphic tees that aren't black and were very inexpensive. That should keep me going for a while. The store is decently tidy and the menswear department was nicely stocked. Sadly, this Walmart does not allow overnight parking. I am a Walmart Regular. The Gainesville FL, SW 42 st is terrible. I had 2 young men check me out. I loudly asked for gift receipts for 4 items. The first man just cashed me out. I spoke out and asked where was my gift receipt? He had no clue. He called the manager. She said go to customer service and get a refund and then purchase it again. Sooo here I go again. Refund, back into a DIFFERENT CASHIER line. Another young man. I specifically said I want gift receipts. He handed me my receipt and said in broken English, here is your receipt. I called over to the manager and said it has happened again. She questioned me again did I request a gift receipts? OMG I had to go to customer service again and get a refund, this time the older lady, refunded me at Customer Service and re rang the purchase with a gift receipt. Finally I was out of there. Do not purchase any protection plans from Walmart or AllState. They will not honor it unless you have the actual receipt even though they sold you the purchase agreement via the app. I use a coffee maker every day and Im physically disabled therefore I use a keurig. I went to the pharmacy to get a quick vaccine. Carlos was great at getting my information and the pharmacist who did my vaccine was awesome. Super quick and easy also so nice! Usually I dread the pharmacy. They were able to pull up my charts. I had one more HPV vaccine that I forgot about and they were able to do it for me on the spot. I would 100% recommend the pharmacy to anyone that asks. read more

Dear WalMart, CVS and all other stores that have self checkout -- You are almost exclusively self-checkout now. The last time I was there, it was a lady checking receipts at the exit by stopping everyone. I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, so I just skipped the exit line and left. I heard her saying "ma'am", ma'am" as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store. You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be. I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you. Went to the new Walmart in Butler plaza for the first time the other night. It is massive. However, it is aimed at the college students in the area, so if you are looking for something that does not fall into that paradigm, good luck... you probably aren't going to find what you are looking for. I didn't. Aisles were slightly cluttered, and I have seen better maintained stores (Walmarts) in town. I probably won't be returning any time soon. I have one closer to where I live, and don't have to deal with the screwed up traffic patterns that now exist in Butler Plaza to get to it. Plus, they tend to carry the things that I need. read more

Customer service at this Walmart store is beyond bad. They resisted to give me a refund for a defective pan I bought within a week, the pan's Teflon was coming off. There's was this young woman and an old lady looking at each other as if Walmart money was their money. I wonder why they work with customer service in the first place. Walmart Supercenter - Standing at the counter waiting but no help. - Grocery Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

This Walmart has definitely been a great addition to the city, especially since the previous one wasn't a supercenter. However, there are several improvements that need to be made. With two areas of self-checkout lines, and several cashier lines, they always fail to utilize their employees and registers; the self-checkout lines often extend past the guide ropes, and only two to three registers are open. This gets significantly worse later into the night, when they close some of the self-checkout and only one register is open. As any supercenter, they basically sell everything that you may need. However, I have noticed that they are pretty slow at restocking, especially their produce. Since the entirety of the university basically shops here, they need to be more efficient in ordering and placing their items on shelves. There have been consecutive days when they've run out of produce like broccoli, spinach, oranges, etc. Other than that, the store is relatively clean and easy to navigate. I don't interact with the employees much, since I'm pretty familiar with Walmart. I would say that their prices are significantly cheaper than Publix/Target, but it depends on the type of experience you're looking for. They also have a Dunkin' Donuts in the store, making shopping a little better with a cup of iced coffee! read more

I wish we could give negative star ratings. In the last decade Walmart has gone to absolutely garbage. It's a 3.5 hour wait for an oil change every time I try to get an oil change. Four stars to my favorite Walmart, not only it's like a Gator heaven in here but because of the fact that it's very clean, ample and with amazing prices. The people working in here are extremely nice and helped me look and find everything from cables, to refrigerators and more. First let me say that it is my own stupid fault for going to Walmart on a Saturday before the county school system's first day of school. Because people were absolutely everywhere and the store was packed. Saying this, I will give applause to the Walmart associates for not breaking a sweat and doing their best to best to restock the shelves as quickly as people were yanking stuff off the shelves. The school supplies area at the front of the store was a horrific mess but that's not because of the Walmart associates, that's because the customers were just grabbing and not thinking of the messes they leave behind for someone else to clean up. Kind of like Old Navy. Anyway, I only give three stars because Walmart has fundamental flaws. Not enough registers open (but there were three customer service representatives in the self check-out section in the middle of the store) and the few that were open had lines that were ridiculously long. Some people are totally against self check-out but I'm for it simply because I don't want to wait in line because Walmart decides that having only 5 registers open on one of it's busiest non-holiday weekends is "smart". This parking lot is entirely too small for the sheer amount of customers they serve, which may not be Walmart's fault but Alachua County's or Gainesville's, or whomever makes the bright ideas to make the parking lots in GNV really small and poorly lit. Honestly, I just hate Walmart. I only go if I absolutely have to. The customers are rude, the registers are sparsely open, the fruits and vegs look like they've been banged up en route to the store. I am not a big fan of Walmart in genera but I have to say this one does not do anything very good. I walked around for like 15 minutes before I found an employee to finally help me out on my most recent visit. A couple really bad things about this store: First they leave a lot of the shelves empty for long periods of time. I have came in first thing in the morning around 8 or 9 am and the shelves are still empty. They need to work with their overnight crews to do a better job at restocking and making the store look a lot nicer, especially the produce section of this store. The staff here are very nice and are not helpful at all. You ask a simple question and tend to get a rude response. Finally it could be the busiest day of the year and they won't have enough cash registers open. I just don't understand why they never have enough open. The aggressive interactions I saw for not just myself but TWO other customers in my time at the customer service desk were unnecessary. Diane should be removed from direct contact with all customers. Valencia should be required to take and then teach deescalation and cordiality to her employees.
