They never have anything I'm looking for. If I ask anyone where something is they don't know & usually send me in the wrong direction. The store is dirty. This time the bathroom was nasty. There was a pad on the railing. Whenever I do the curbside pickup they over fill the bags & don't double bag anything. Don't waste your time here. read more

Hours aren't as posted. They "don't care" and always close "that way". So, if you're wondering, you're officially asked to to call them to make sure they're open before going. This is their official response. Evidently, posting their own legitimate hours is less efficient than every customer calling them each time. They actively, explicitly, and aggressively want to deceive people about the hours. I don't know why, but this is what they're doing. Creepy and messed up. It seems like a joke but it's not... This place is dirty. If I'm going for something specific They never have it in stock. The customer service sucks. They argue about prices if it rings up wrong. A week ago I was going to check out at the self check out and I was told they are card only because there is a change shortage but the next day they were working just fine so obviously someone just didn't want to refill the machine. Yesterday I was checking out and noticed the conveyer and scanner was filthy. I thought they were supposed to clean these especially since the pandemic started. This is disgusting. read more

I like to go to Walmart on my days off once in a while but I always feel like the employees are watching me. Every time I'm done checking out they check the receipt. But why?? Wal-Mart will not be allowed to check my receipt anymore because the last time they checked mine the computer had rung one of my objects up as another. I just scan the barcode and pay I do not care if the computer fu*ked up and they kept me there for 20 minutes over a $10 item so they could make sure I wasn't lying and sure enough... I wasn't. I deserve credit or something but God knows Wal-Mart the penny pinching mofos don't care about bettering society. It's all about the money. The service here isn't great and it's always loud as crap unless you go at night time. I will say tho that the managers here are cool and one of em actually stopped the guy checking my receipt and told me I was good to go. They ALWAYS CHECK!!! It's extremely annoying and a waste of my time. They actually pay for these people to stand there looking at a receipt they are losing money that way. read more

On 12/5/23 I ordered approximately $500 in groceries for delivery. I received notification as normal except when I received a text stating my items were delivered though the photo clearly shows them in the back of the drivers vehicle. They were never delivered. I contacted Walmart, they said it would be 10 days to refund, but to order express and they would send me a $10 promo code and they'd waive the delivery charge. I did so. The groceries were picked out, and were in process. I saw they were "checking out" and then all of a sudden get a text they are delayed. Today (12/6/23) I called Walmart at 0700 to figure this out. Between going back and forth from the store, walmart.com, the delivery company (whom I pressed charges on both drivers for failure to deliver and stealing my groceries) and a different department I was basically told there is nothing they can do for me to get groceries for my family today. I would have to wait 10 days for the refund, they try to expedite, but again no guarantees on when I will receive my refundS. I have 4 children, live paycheck to paycheck and have just dropped $1000 on food. I had received NO FOOD and have no more money. I pleaded for 6 hours while my phone call kept rolling over every 45 minutes to a new person (as if it is on a timer and automatically rolls over.) I basically have no options other than to starve my family until I get a refund. This is no OK in any way shape or form. I did what I was supposed and what walmart directed me to do to rectify it. Yet I had to nickel and dime my friends and family to afford food for my table, I am out now $1500 and am unable to pick up my groceries until after their bedtimes tonight. This is the worst service I have ever heard of. I should receive free groceries and express delivery for all this. Absolutely ridiculous you care this little about your customers and their families that you would let them starve rather than find an appropriate resolution. read more

Give them a call just to see if they had an item in stock. I was told they probably could not help me look because they would have to walk down an aisle. I was then put on hold for 10 minutes only for them to pick up and say my supervisor said we cannot help you. What a waste of a store and employees. read more

This review is for the Tire & Lube Express. They saved our entire vacation to Iowa for Christmas. We had our oil changed at a Wal-Mart in Longmont, CO the previous day, and the battery needed replaced. They never told us, and we didn't discover that until much later. We figured we would just replace it when we returned home the next week to Cheyenne. We started our trip to Iowa the next morning, 12/22/10, with me and my wife, our 6 week old daughter and our dog. When we stopped at a rest area on I-80 about 20 miles west of Des Moines, our car barely started, and we knew we had to do something quick. My wife was using the Internet on her phone trying to find a Wal-Mart that would install the battery, and that was still open as it was 7:30PM. She found this Wal-Mart, and it was about 8PM when we arrived. Since it was so cold outside, they let me stand in the garage area with our dog, and the wife and baby went inside to pick up a couple things we needed, including the battery! They lift the hood, and call a manager. Great, they found something wrong. Not really, but they had to take off the air breather to get to the battery, and were supposed to decline the battery install. Since we were traveling and about 600 miles from home, the manager gave them special permission to do the install. About 45 minutes after arriving, we we're back on the way to Southeast Iowa. They could have left us high and dry, but literally saved our Christmas. I would give them a 10-star review if I could. Amazing customer service!! read more

This location is a literal joke. If there was another Walmart in the area that I could go to that was closer to my house believe me I would and it's just getting to the point at this location that I would drive 30 minutes to another Walmart just so that I could have better service. I go there I am trying to check out I have a tax exempt card that I won't use and they told me that her registry is open so I go and I look and I'm like waiting there and I see nobody there so I'm like OK you know let me check out and see if somebody's going to come back. So I check out with my items and then I go to scan the tax exempt items and they are telling me that it's just not working so multiple people are coming up to me telling me I can't use a card. So then the manager comes over and knows I will the registers close at 1045 and I am telling them like your employees told me the registers are still open I'm over there waiting I'm wasting my time I could've been at the register you know having somebody help me but I'm standing around talking to you guys. And it's just freaking difficult and the manager has no customer service experience obviously because she did not do a very good job she was not helpful at all. I was spending well over $60 and instead of helping me they rather just waste my time. And so now I'm going to go to a different store and I will not be going to this location anymore because they have done nothing but let me down and it's unbelievable that they even have three stars. Like don't have multiple employees come up to me telling me different information and then nobody be even remotely helpful at all. read more

They are supposed to close at 10 pm but won't let anyone in at 9:45 pm bc they don't want to work . Every other Walmart closes at 10 and you can actually go into the store at 10 . They pick and choose who they want to let into the store after 9:45 Pm and that is really unprofessional. read more

The customer service was in typical Walmart fashion. Non-existent. I purchased a poinsettia today in the self-checkout -- right in front of the greeter (and I use that term loosely). As I was checking out I noticed a few leaves on the poinsettia were damaged. As I was leaving I asked the greeter (again, I use that term loosely), if I could just swap out the two plants. I mean, they were right by the door. They were close to the greeter - totally within eye shot. In fact they were steps away... He told me that I could not do that and that I'd have to go to customer service. I really didn't see the point. I was just swapping out a poinsettia for a poinsettia. Why should I have to wait in line, do a return & all that b.s.? So, as usual, I got the typical Walmart customer service. Happy Holidays. read more

Want to buy a money order at Walmart... here's why you shouldn't. If you buy it and want to cash it in that same day you can't. So if you pay someone with it and they go to cash it in they can't. It has to be cashed at the same Walmart and because their system and MoneyGram don't communicate that money order is a piece of paper Do not waste your money go to QT or the post office instead. Money transactions are still done Walmart. Bad business. read more

IF I could give -2 stars I would!!!! I went to Walmart specifically to purchase my fishing license a couple of Fridays ago and left the store without getting it!! I went to the sporting goods counter and waited about 5 minutes. Then went looking for an associate to help or at least call for someone to help, but only found associates at the automotive counter who were backed up 5+ customers waiting. So I pulled out my phone and called the store. I explained to the person who answered that I needed help in sporting goods that I had been waiting 10 minutes by this time. The person was snotty with me but after I hung up the phone I did hear a page for assistance to sporting goods. By this time I was not the only customer waiting for help. The other woman waiting started walking around looking for help. She made plenty of noise and ANY associate anywhere nears SHOULD have come to investigate! The other customer finally left after about another 10 minutes. I on the other hand must be a glutton for punishment because I waited another five minutes after she left and called the store AGAIN! The same associate that answered the phone the first time I called answered again and I explained that I called before that she had paged and I still was standing at Sporting Goods waiting for help. SHE HUNG UP ON ME! But once again I did hear them page for assistance to the Sporting Goods counter. By this time I was really upset I waited maybe 5 more minutes so that means that I stood at that Sporting Goods counter for almost 30 minutes and NEVER GOT ASSISTANCE! Unfortunately I had other things that I had to get that night at Walmart or I would have left right then and there left everything in my cart and walked out the door throwing a stinking fit and making a lot of noise! Instead I finished my shopping and went to the self-checkout Lane because there were only two non self-checkout lanes available and they both had lines for people deep. On the first item that I rang up in the self-checkout Lane it said please wait for a assistance. So I looked around for the associate this supposed to be monitoring the self-checkout Lanes and couldn't find anyone. After a couple minutes I did see someone and she went to help another customer who needed assistance before I did and I was okay with that. Then as that associate was coming to help me another customer with a noisy misbehaving child grabbed her and pulled her over to ask a question that could have waited. Instead of telling the other customer that she was helping me that associate took her sweet time helping the other customer. And then she wandered around for a couple seconds in between all of the second self checkout Lanes before she came over to help me. By this time I am beyond upset and I am just downright pissy! I told the people standing in line next to me what had happened to the Sporting Goods counter and actually told them that if I didn't get some help really soon they were going to have a big old show on their hands and they might want to get their phones out and get there video cameras ready cuz I was about to throw a fit! Eventually the associate did come over to help me and I rang up two more items and lo and behold it gave me another please wait for assistance but this time that associate hurried over and scurried off before I could ever say anything. I looked and looked and looked before I left the store for one of those front counter register manager type people but never saw one when I went out the door I looked for one of those people standing by the door to check my receipt and the bags so that I could find a manager but there wasn't one of those either! What's bad is unfortunately I have had other similar experiences at this particular Walmart so I tend not to shop there but I thought well it's just this one time and you never know of some places changed if you don't go in and try it again. I doubt that I will ever go into this Walmart again unless it is an absolute emergency! read more

I frequent this store many times per week, and there are two items in particular that I grab when I'm there. It's been 4 weeks and these two items have been empty on the shelf every time I visit. I also noticed that inventory in general has been extremely poor lately, so I spoke to an associate and asked them what the deal was. I was told that their store manager isn't allowing them to order. I hate to give this Walmart any stars, although it's not their fault they're terrible it's the south side(and as a southsider I hate the stereotype but it's true) the tire center also told me my tire needed to be replaced..had 2 other places look at it and it didn't it just needed a new valve tube which Mercedes replaced for free. It's a Walmart. My biggest complaint about it is really no different than most other Walmarts, and that is the parking always seems to be a mess. Although this Walmart's marking is better than most. I do like the self serve checkouts because I normally buy only a few items. read more

I have a love hate relationship with walmart. Love the low prices but hate shopping there. Not quite sure why, but I only go there if I HAVE to. Being a broke student, I thought I would spend most of my money at walmart but I still find myself heading to hyvees where they have a fresh selection of seafood, steaks, and chicken! At walmart seafood is frozen and stuffed in the fridge. I'd rather pass and did pay extra for the fresh stuff. read more

There's not too much I can say about Walmart, it is WalMart, one of the best innovations in American history. They have nearly everything you need to buy, including groceries. They are open all night in case you need something late. Parking is easy. Price is good. Don't expect something amazing, it is still just a WalMart. read more

We went to several wal marts looking for a Christmas item. Although every WalMart we were at said they had the item in inventory (and multiple, 50 at one location) no one could find them or put any effort into looking for them. Most locations pointed in the distance and said "I think they are....." We went to this location on SE 14th---they didn't have the item either but they at least went out of their way to search for the item which their computer system said they had in stock. They even personally called other wal marts and asked associates on the phone to look to see if they could actually SEE the product in another location. Customer Service Way above the other locations. The other Des Moines metro wal Marts (West Des Moines, Ankeny, Altoona) should take some customer service skills from these folks here. Good customer service should take place at all times of the year, even during the holiday rush. Bravo SE 14th WalMart team- Support Manager Chris went above and beyond. This is by far the worst Wal Mart in the area. You are better off going to Windsor Heights or WDSM. The baby section is horrendous. There is no organization and is very cluttered. The aisle with dishes did not have anything hanging on the hooks. Everything was knocked down so knowing what the price was is impossible. The clothes were thrown onto any rack, not sorted by size or style. At least twice something was on the shelf under the wrong price tag. At first I just thought maybe it was just the day I was there, maybe they had a rough crowd in that destroyed the area and staff did not have a chance to fix. All through out the store the staff was very helpful and friendly. It was when I tried leave the greeter was very rude. There were a lot of people coming out the door and the greeter asked to see my receipt. I said no for one reasons one my daughter who is 10 months was hungry and upset so I was trying to hurry out. She then proceeded to scream stop I need to check your receipt make sure you're not stealing over and over. I kept walking then she ran out the first set of doors put her hands on the cart where my daughters hand were and squished her hand then in the same moment ran to the end of the cart put her hand on it and jammed it to my stomach while screaming I need to check your receipt. Since she wouldn't let me go anywhere I had no other choice and my daughter was still upset so that didn't help. She didn't check my receipt properly she accounted for three items and I had five. After all that fighting and embarrassment she didn't even check my receipt probably or apologize for hurting me or my child and or being rude. read more

Basically, it's Walmart. No top tier service or anything like that. Every time I have a question or call to inquire about an item, the workers sound exasperated or annoyed. Waited in line at customer service for twenty minutes, and when it was my turn, the lady just walked off and didn't come back for five minutes. She couldn't even help with my question and told me to ask someone else. The Walmart in West Des Moines is way better, go there. read more
