If your time and sanity are important to you, do NOT step foot in this store! I'm not against Walmart in general -- I too want decent products for lower prices... However, you will be extremely hard-pressed to find the item you want in this store as shelves are often bare and items mis-placed all over the store (in each dept). Additionally, I cannot enforce enough, this this store's employees are VERY ghetto and ignorant. That is NOT to be based on their hiring pool, as Target, Lowes, PetSmart, which are all within a mile radius of this Walmart, are all employing helpful, polite and efficient people. I waited 30 minutes in a "fast" lane of 12 items or less (maybe it was 10 or less?) with about 12 customers in front of me. There were only a handful of other registers open, and each with lines that encroached past their large aisle and into their product displays. Seriously, our line crawled.
Suddenly, an Arab employee from the optical dept. came over to an Arab customer at the rear of our line, and lead her away. I was curious why she would do that and, so yes, I followed them to the register in the optical dept, where the nice muhajaba (scarved woman) rang up the Arab customer's baby clothing. I was floored, as my ice cream was melted, my pizza de-thawed, and my beer cold by this time... I asked the employee just what she was thinking when she invited this particular customer from the back of the line before considering any one of the rest of us (who were black, Latino and non-Arab) who had already been waiting 3o minutes.
I'll save you (and myself) the remainder of the story how I chewed her out, and then chewed out the customer for telling me to "mind my own business". To summarize however, I got loud, and brought my own groceries, along with 3 other customers who followed, to the optical dept to ring up our groceries, which the employee did politely. I think she won't soon be doing that again! LOL
Forgot to mention, I was also buying water - I have my 5 gallon jugs that I fill up and just pay for water... I had already filled up 2 jugs, so I HAD to go thru checkout otherwise, I would have been stealing water - no place to pour it out!! I was a prisoner!! argggggg!!
Another time, I went in to buy a pizza and saw their great homemade options in the case display - Walmart large pizzas not frozen... all packed with pork products. I asked the guy working that section if they had a veggie pizza. "No" he said, "just the meat". I said, "wow, Walmart is really losing out on an opportunity here to serve vegetarians, AND their local Muslim community as they are located in the heart of Dearborn." He said all products are chosen form the headquarters and they have no choice to request different products. Wow... management really needs to be kicked in the ass over here.
Another time, I ordered some items on line and had them shipped to store for free... I went to pick up my items in the back of the store. The employee came out, said he couldn't find my items and would check in the back. He disappeared!!! I waited, and waited and about 15 minutes later another employee came walking back and I asked if she would help me. She said yes, and that she had been on lunch. I said what happened to the other guy who went in the back to look for my order? She said she had NO idea who I was talking about because no one was covering for her while she was on break. !?!? WTF!! Where did that guy go??? Who was he even ?! CraZy!! As I was leaving the store, I saw the guy near the front of the store, and I said, "hey where did you go? that wasn't cool"... he said he didn't know what I was talking about and pretended to be innocent. Thing was, he had a set of wildly crooked teeth that no other person could have been his look-alike.... Bad News....
and I know it's my own damned fault for venturing into this place time and again... but I believe in second chances. This store has plum tuckered me out! read more
