Was charged for eyeglasses extended warranty without my knowledge. Later when I actually needed to use the warranty for accidental damage to one of my lenses, I was told that the "accidental coverage" didn't mean the kind of accidental damage I had. Go there with moderate expectations & you won't be disappointed too much most of the times. It usually has a decent selection of produce & sometimes the hot foods are worth a look - if/when they have ANY as they seem to be low on staff there all the time. The place is gigantic too - so be sure to wear comfy walking shoes !! We don't use their glasses or hair places & also avoid needing customer service as it can be a hassle - like buying one of their '100% money-back guarantee' items of poor quality & having them cite rules & refusing the refund even with the package & receipt. In contrast to all the above - for large, heavy items - being able to get stuff with free shipping right to the house via Fedex is great for us as this store is an hour+ to drive to for groceries & such. Repeating now... Every one of their stores we've shopped at has been about the same or worse & none have been places to get positively excited about shopping at. read more

Asked the electronics employees on several occasions to come over and unlock the headphones I was looking to buy inside the display case. They just shrugged and either walked off following the employee she was chatting with as one old woman employee did or looked at me and ignored me when I asked can I have help getting this to the register? They just said "yes" like its a stupid question to ask for assistance buying an item locked in a display case that literally read "ASK AN EMPLOYEE FOR ASSISTANCE". Take your money elsewhere. Even the West Lebanon store gives better customer service than this bullshit. I ended up just buying something better off amazon instead. read more

This past weekend while in the area I needed to stop at Walmart to grab some arts and crafts materials as well as some food. When I pulled into the parking lot my first thought was that I had made a terrible mistake because it was packed on a Saturday afternoon. Even though it was busy the store is so large that you couldn't even tell that there was so many people there. The store itself was well organized and stocked which was amazing for such a big place. The checkout lines were the only problem area but they were actually pretty quick at getting people in and out. The cashiers and staff were really polite and very helpful in finding things. I swore on the graves of my ancestors going back 11 generations that I would never set foot in a Wal-Mart. Never! And this one, located in a city whose downtown shopping area had suffered in the wake of malls and big box stores, seemed particularly odious. Never would I go anywhere near this Wal-Mart. And yet...and yet...the need for lower prices compared to many local supermarkets, the extended operating hours (the place pretty much never closes) the selection of household necessities and low prescription prices, enticed me in. Little by little I found myself visiting more and more often. My resistance was breaking down... I have no choice. There are some things here (certain sports supplements, vitamins) that I can't get anywhere in the area, and the prices on certain dairy products and other perishables are without compare. Certain other stores may have an item or two that's cheaper...but, top to bottom, this Wal-Mart is almost always less expensive than any of them. There are a couple of places where this, and most other Wal-Marts fall down. Certain higher end niche items, - higher performance athletic clothing, as an example - aren't found here. On the shelves one will find the house brand but nothing better than that. The quality of house brand items isn't as good as what one would find in a department or specialty store. This is a contrast to a Sears, for example, which will often offer more premium labels. Moreover, and similar to a warehouse store, customers need to buy larger capacity items or a large quantity of a particular item, in order to realize substantial savings. People shouldn't be forced into bulk purchases, but that's the way Wal-Mart creates such advantageous margins and that's how it makes money. Service here isn't too bad...I'm not really impressed with the product knowledge shown by the staff, but then again they're not being paid to be experts about everything on the shelves. I will say that they are all very friendly and willing to look around for items not found on the shelves. Overall...if I have to go into a Wal-Mart, and if I really need a lower price on something I'm pretty comfortable visiting this one. read more

Welcome to your Claremont friendly Walmart. I called Walmart to make sure they had an item in stock that I needed. I started out with a little conversation before I asked the lady on the other end of the line, and what does she do, she hangs up in my ear, whilst I was in the middle of a sentence. So I immediately called back and thanked her for hanging up in my ear ( I didn't say it so nicely though). she's lucky I didn't ask to speak to a manager. She was very unprofessioal and rude. As far as Walmarts go, we strongly prefer this one to the Keene store. More selection, nicer selection, and it's a Super Walmart with the produce and bakery and other supermarket specialties that the Keene one doesn't have. The layout is a little disjointed and confusing, and the prices aren't always better than Market Basket (my yardstick for good food prices), but for one-stop shopping it fulfills most of our needs. read more

This Wal-Mart is very disappointing. While I appreciate it being open 24/7 they are seriously lacking in stock. They always have palates of stuff in the aisles but never seem to have anyone stocking the shelves. Avoid this place at all costs on the first week of the month. The shelves are bare and the place is PACKED!! Also why have 40 registers and only ever man at most 10 of them? Its pretty crazy! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. We were visiting from New York and attempting to buy a bottle of wine from this location at 11:50pm we went to pay for it. The cashier who I didn't get her name was yelling at us in front of all these customers in the line "YOU CANT BUY THAT WINE" & didn't explain until after we asked why not knowing it was a state law not to purchase alcohol until after 11:45. She was disgusting & rude. Makes me never want to go back to New Hampshire because of these rude civilians, place is fucking WACK. read more

Walmart is known for having great prices and this place doesn't. For grocery needs, market basket is definitely your best bet. As of right now market basket bananas are 49 cents a pound and they're 56 cents a lb here. Milk is $2.49 at market basket and $3.08 at walmart. They do have great clearance items at times and sometimes the avocados are 50 cents each (they're usually between $1.25 and $1.69 if they're not at sale at this walmart. Their kiwi are 33 cents each which is cheaper than market basket which sells their kiwi for 50 cents each. Their pineapple are usually $2.50 each and market basket's are $2.79 unless they're on sale. In general do not shop here for food. The healthy and beauty section is great if you're looking for makeup, cleanser etc. The pet section also comes in handy as does automotive. read more

Ive been going to this store in claremont nh for 8 years now.....and i feel strongly that in my opinion that it is the WORST retail store of all time! The automotive dept. is abysmal! The routinely lie to you about how long it will take for an oil change, tires etc. The food court is run by......i dont want to get insulting so ill just say that i dont feel safe eating food prepared by them. If you are shopping and you ask someone where an item is..... there is a 50/50 chance that you wil be given wrong information......and the so called "supervisors" are the worst!!! Wildly intoxicated by their power and talk to you like they are the final authority on everything......Walmart has some good prices and some unique items....but i have reduced my shopping there by about 70%! over the last 8 years......These days i only go there as an last resort! as their prices have been steadily rising. I use market basket, home depot, running and the tractor store now for most of my needs..... How they survive is a wonder! read more

I went to the Walmart store in Claremont Nh as I had bought 2 sets of dishes and some of the dishes were broken. I went to the service desk and a young lady called over an CSM or CSN named Justice. This Justice lady was very rude. I told her that I had just bought these dishes and they were broken, I gave her my receipt, she immediately started yelling at me and asking me why didn't I bring in the whole set.. I explained to her that the whole set wasn't broken and she had the dishes in stock as I had seen them on the shelf. I just wanted an even swap. She said she couldn't handle me and had the young lady at the counter call over the walkie talkies and ask for another CSM or CSN. His name was Jack, he was very friendly and helped me with the issue. If people like this Justice lady are treating your customers like this, then you don't need her there. I will not deal with this treatment again. So, I have decided to let the world know what you hire for employees. I went to the eye care place because I snapped my glasses in half (I'm so blind that I can only get plastic lens to hold my thick lenses lol) and really needed to be able to see. They made me an appt a little over a week away. Day of appt I show up at 2:15pm for my appt with my 3 yr old son. I'm a stay at home mom and my husband was working and I have no family close enough to help watch him so I had to bring him with me. I sat there with my son for an hour waiting to be seen and thank god he's easy going and a pretty good listener. Well the optometrist was not pleasant at all! I had previously asked if they accepted my insurance and was told yes so that's why I made the appt. The whole eye exam was rushed and my son had a hard time sitting still after already waiting an hour! She was very short and rude with my son and even picked him up and put him in the chair! That was not ok, she should not have to touch my son! She could've took the thing away from my face so I could sit him down and correct the situation myself. I told her I will be the only one to take care of my child! So the rest of the eye exam was rushed even more and with lots of atitude! At the end she writes my prescription down on a prescription pad and gives it to me. I am told my insurance just covers the the damn eye exam not the prescription lens and frames! If they would have correctly said that to me when I asked the first time I wouldn't have made the appt and I would've went somewhere that my insurance covers everything (which I had to do after this debacle!). I had to go through three weeks with broken glasses! I'm not impressed with how they try and take advantage of the return policy too! A lot of people don't know that if a purchase is $25 or less you get cash back and $25 and more gift cards (so they don't lose your money!). I don't know if all Wal-Mart's have this bullcrap policy but they need to get rid of it at this one! I try my damnest to not shop there but it's almost impossible living in a crapshoot town and no real decent shopping places and centers! Do not go here if you can avoid it!!! read more
