(Plain black pants, plain jeans, plain white bins, etc.) Store has purses, men's, children's, women's, plus clothing. Blankets and rugs. Bedding. Bathroom decor. Wall decor. Children's toys. Workout gear. Fragrances. Furniture including chairs/ottomans. Laundry room supplies. Lots of one-copy items - especially in the decor section. TJ Maxx tends to have a couple copies of each home decor item, but here at Ross, it's mostly a single-copy item in both the clothing and the decor sections. Everything was a nightmare of mess when I came, though. I'm not holding it against them as their parking lot was full and I'm sure they're still dealing with the novelty of being new. Noticeably long line waiting to check-out. Again, possibly due to the grand opening. Walked by a lot of staff and was never greeted. Again, possibly staff is just stressed with the extra-busy days. Had a very good experience at kohls tonight. It was tax free weekend and I was dreading shopping…read morebecause I thought it would be mayhem. Kohls had planned and organized well. They had plenty of staff on hand. And for 8 pm at night the store displays looked nice and organized. I was offered help several times. I ended up getting all my kids school clothes. Two pairs of shoes for each kid, underwear, socks, jeans, sweatshirts, pajamas and even a disco light. I had two carts full. Was scared the girl at the register would groan with disgust at all my stuff but she was chipper and enjoyed the challenge. Another employee came over and even helped bag. Another employee went and did a sku check when a shirt was missing a tag. I spent $1100 and had a coupon and a 20% off coupon. So my total was $870. I got $170 in kohls cash to spend next time. This is a newer Maurices location right near the Target over near this new shopping district. It's…read morea pretty large store, and it offers a shoe area, multiple dressing rooms, a plus-sized area, and a regularly-sized area. It's bigger than most mall Maurice locations that I've seen. Maurices sizing goes from a size 0 all the way up to a size 24. Their plus-sized selection is smaller (about 1/4 of the store) compared to the regular sizes, but it's still quite a bit of clothing. Staff is really what makes this store. Staff is helpful without being pushy. They happily will open a fitting room for you, and they occasionally will check in and ask if they can help you find items. Lots of other people were taking advantage of that, and staff was helping them put together great outfits by making suggestions. They are really good about regularly using your name and making you feel like a valued customer. I was looking for a scarf in a different color, and the staff was really helpful. They looked it up on their own system, double-checked throughout the whole store when the system said they didn't have it, and then offered to call down to the Waterloo location and see if they had one for me. The entire experience was very friendly, and I always got the feeling that the staff genuinely was having an okay time working there and wanted to help. Price can be a bit high depending on the items. I'd recommend trying to take advantage of their sales; they regularly have discounts or "Buy One, Get One ___" sales which help lower the prices. They also offer a free rewards program that gives you a $5 credit for every $100 you spend, so that will you save a bit more money. Finding specific items can be a bit difficult, though, so you may need to ask for help. For example, their scarves are placed in multiple areas throughout the entire store, so it can make it hard to compare all scarves at once. However, with such helpful staff, it really isn't too hard to eventually find what you're looking for. Maurices has nice clothing, but what really makes this store is the staff. This is probably one of the best customer service experiences that I've had in awhile.

I will not go so far as to say that College Square is dead . . . but it is on life support and waiting for a merciful pulling of the plug. Many of us grew up seeing this mall thriving and full of life without a vacant spot. Now, the mall is a skeleton of its former self with a few large stores and restaurants (Von Maur, Yonkers, Hu Hot & Old Chicago) holding up an empty carcass where a variety of interesting stores used to be. The final nail in the coffin was when Scheel's left for greener pastures. The mall went through a renovation a few years back where they replaced the dated looking tile with more modern aesthetics. Because, of course, people will come to shop if they can walk on slightly prettier tile. Right?
