The self checkout at Walmart that only take cash are a big pain in the butt so nor a fast way too check out

A brief shop in the evening followed by an overnight stay in their parking lot, this is a decent sized Supercenter. I picked up some meat and cheese and that was really all I needed, but I did walk the rest of the store. Decently well stocked, I found a good selection in bedding and personal care. No trash on the floor. I was greeted three times by associates. The parking lot is tidy and the cart corrals were not full. I like that they deliver to my home now. Overall worth it, but PLEASE Walmart online order shoppers, PLEASE read the quantities and do better at picking substitutions. I have a big family, and small kids. I do not like to go in store. However I CANNOT get any shopper to get me 2 lbs of thin sliced lunch meat. Even when on chat I'm pleading with them they do not do it. Also if I order 6 lbs of chicken do not sub with 2 lbs of chicken! If the big pack is out, get multiple smaller packs!! I just got an online order and I have to go to the store or place a new order because I asked for 2 lbs. of lunch meat and 6 lbs. of chicken and I got 1/2 lb of lunch meat and two small chicken breasts. read more

I want to comment on two employees that I have observed while sitting at the grocery entrance. First I want to praise a young man named Nick that was working as a greater. He was VERY polite and professional. When he asked to see a receipt as someone was leaving he had a smile and a friendly comment for each customer, asked them if they found everything ok and thanked them shopping here and to have a good day. In my opinion, Nick will be a great asset to Walmart if they manage to keep him. On the other hand, Daniel, who seems to be over the online shoppers, was very unprofessional. I witnessed him fussing at what I assumed to be an employee right at the entrance with many customers within hearing distance. I considered pulling him aside to point out his mistake, but his employees were present and I didn't want to make the same mistake he did. read more

I came here for a new wheel for my car. Should have gone to Wheelmart. I often spend the night in Athens Tennessee when I'm crossing Tennessee. I'm not really sure why. It just happens to be the place I end up happening to stop. Maybe the scenery here (or lack thereof) makes me tired. There's a Walmart here which is really useful. It's not the best that I've ever been to but it does have plenty of stuff and it's nice and big and busy and it's definitely helpful when I need one thing or another during my travels. I've been in this Walmart a few times now and it hasn't let me down yet. It's a little hard to get in and out of but I do appreciate the cheap fuel that goes alongside it. read more

This Walmart is a nice store. It is big and almost a one stop shopping place. However, they tend to be out of more items than other Walmarts. They could be a bit more friendly too. I mean I know Athens has a sign welcoming you to their friendly city as you get off the interstate. So, the store needs to be a part of the city. I'm just saying. Their sporting goods department is appealing. It's is better than most. I can usually find hard to get ammo here. Just get here at the right time to be lucky. There are over 1400 parking places in the parking lot. For store bargains, check out the bargain table in front of books at front of store center. read more

I live in Atlanta and when I was home visiting my family last weekend I mentioned that I needed to do a return at Walmart. My Mother was skeptical as to the experience I would have as every time she had been in this specific store, the Customer Service line was extra long due to there only ever being one person working the Customer Service counter. I told her that I had never had an issue in ATL so I wanted to go ahead and try, as we were very near the store. Upon arrival at the Customer Service counter I confirmed that there was only one person working (see picture attached) and yes, there was a line of seven people waiting to be helped. The guy at the counter was doing his best - and he was very nice - but it was unfair to the customers to make us wait such a long time to be helped and totally unfair to the guy behind the counter to have to deal with people who were upset that they had to wait so long to be helped. I noticed that by the time I was helped there were another eight people in line behind me. I don't believe I will be shopping at this location in the future - I'll just wait to get back to ATL. NOTE: As we were all standing there a manager came by and went into the back and then back out onto the floor without so much as a glance at the clerk or customers. Very unprofessional! read more

I had a tire emergency on my way from Chattanooga Tennessee to Washington DC. When my tire light came on. I pulled into a gas station and they told me Walmart might be able to help. So I called while in route to the tire center. They told me the it was closed (probably because of covid) but once I told them it was an emergency they transferred me to Adam who told me to where to park. Dan and Robby helped me immediately. Heather and Ashley where also really helpful with information. They really saved my life because I was 9 hours away from home! I'm so thankful! If you are ever in or around Athens, this is the place to go. Everyone was so kind and healpful! read more

The Walmart in Athens TN needs to keep more registers open. Never but 2 open that helps the public. Everyone does not do personal checkout and choses not to. If they are going to continues this they should install benches along isle. Older people complain all the time it is way too long to stand in line. If it continues I will stop shopping here. Also low on stock can never get everything without going back. read more

I had to give at least one star to write a review. I have a registered support dog( that was wearing his service vest) and the manager Scott ask me to leave. There were two other dogs in the store that did not have their registered vest(or any other vest on).I ask Scott if all animals are allowed in the store..his response to me was"we can ask them if they are service animals and if they say yes that's all they can ask" I ask if he ask the other two dog owners if their dog were service/support animals his response "no" This is discrimination not only illegal to ask me to leave. I do not like coming here. Sometimes items are really hard to find, and it can get crazy in there sometimes with all of the people. Sometimes the workers can be rude, or at least not friendly. They never have enough lines open and what should be a short trip can turn into a long time. I avoid going to Walmart at all costs. read more

Was there this evening March 11th 2018. Lanes backed up. Supervisor wearing a yellow vest, had someone open lane 3 so I moved from the line I was waiting in to lane 3. As she was checking me out I told her I needed butane. The cashier informed me that I would have to go to lane 1 to purchase it. Lane 1 is the "express" lane & I had to many items. Told her that I would walk down there & get it & bring it to her so I wouldn't have to go all the way around with a cart full of items I already paid for & wait in a line longer then the one I had just waited in. She told me that I couldn't do that it was aganist company policy. Makes no sense what so ever. What difference does it make what lane I pay for it in. I wasn't buying cigarettes! I was trying to buy a can of butane! I wasn't suppose to be in lane 1 as I had to many items . I'm 56 years old so I'm sure I'm aloud to buy it. I just wonder if this is really company policy. I talked to a supervisor , he was wearing a yellow vest whatever that means. He also told me that it was company policy. I hate Wal-Mart. First time Ive been in months & one visit back reminded why I try an stay away from that place & there power hunger employees! Its an atmosphere of the employees versus the customers. read more

I have been shopping at the Athens store for a number of years. They USE to get almost all our business but lately I have had questionable issues in dealing with them. As seems to be a common thread , as others have posted, going to management is useless. Example for the sportsmans out there who buy 22 ammo. I watch the Walmart in stock for supposed deliveries and when they say they have it ( always a brand new post ) I stop in same day. I'm told they don't have it. When I say that the computer says they do I am told " That's what Bentonville says ". O.K. I watch the next day and they still say in stock. Stop by and am told they had some THAT morning but it's gone. Now the sight says out of stock. Looks like they can get it right when it's gone but not when it's there. Or is it a power game they are playing ? This has happened several times. If you question them they get sure don't relate well to it. I bought a cheap prepaid phone and discovered ,after activation and putting time on it , that it gave the incorrect time on the display. I go back to Walmart and explain the issue after checking with the manufacturer. Samsung KNOWS there is a issue with the chip inside the phone . It will be out of the real world time every year for one month. So don't count on the alarm , using it to tell time because every year one month is garbage information. The lady at Walmart says they can't do anything about it without a recall. I ask to speak to a Manager. I explain that this is taking advantage of customers. They are selling defective phones. I suggest since he can't do anything about it that he informs the buyer at Walmart headquarters. They take the phones off the self. The next day my wife and I are back in the store and I tell her let me check the phone section. Guess what is back on the selling space? Same phone same problem. While Walmart was founded on ETHICS I don't see it anymore and they wonder why their sales are down. They are losing what they probably consider our meager sales. read more
