I was changing in the new change rooms (big renovation going on), and I looked in the mirror after having already undressed and tried on clothes; I see the overhead security camera looks right into the change room via mirror reflection!!!!!! There were no overhead security cameras able to look into the old changerooms let's just put that out there. The manager was so nonchalant, saying somebody else had complained and they put a bag over the camera. HA! lie. I have a video from inside the changeroom and there is most certainly no bag covering the camera. She said it was turned off. all I have is her word. Been shopping at the Grandview Walmart since we moved here in 2015. But not after today's experience. I had approximately $250 worth of goods in my cart at the self-checkout, with the self-checkout attendant standing just in front of my checkout, watching me very closely. After scanning several items, the self-checkout attendant starts picking up and replacing several of the items on the scale that I had already scanned, then walks back to where she was standing. After I scanned a few more items, she comes back and loudly states that I didn't scan several of the items on the scale. This is according to the device she is holding which is apparently telling her that I am not scanning products. She picked up a few items and asked what they were and if I had scanned them, then scrolls through the scanned items on the self-checkout register display. ALL the items I had scanned and placed on the scale were there in the list, at no point was there an error on the display that I had put something on the scale that had not been scanned. She then wanted me to re-scan some of the items she says I didn't scan even though we could both see that they were already on the register display. At this point I took all of the items off the scale and put them back in the grocery cart, then left the cart at the checkout. It appears that Walmart does not care one bit about how the attendants treat customers, not does Walmart in and of itself care about customers or their experience at the store. The store can be packed with customers, with long line-ups at the checkouts, including the self-checkouts. Often half or more of the self-checkouts remain closed. Attendants are hawkish and hovering and you get the impression that you're being monitored. In fact, you ARE being monitored not just by the attendants but also the camera at the checkout recording everything you do. Not everyone is a thief, but at Walmart customers are treated as such the moment they enter the store. The impression I had today was that the attendant wanted to intimidate me in order to add items to the bill that I had already scanned, intentionally inflating the final bill. If her device was telling her that I had put an item on the scale without first scanning, why didn't that message come up on the display at the checkout to inform me of the missed item? Today was the third time that this has happened to me at this location. It doesn't add up, but there is something fishy going on here. Think twice before shopping at Walmart. The marginally lower prices compared to another store are not worth it. read more

I went to the Walmart at Surrey Center Mall for some groceries one afternoon. The young man on the till refused to pack my groceries for me. When I asked why he called his supervisor. I showed her the Walmart bags that I purchased there. She said the bags were not new and because they had been in my home they were now unhygienic. I've never been so insulated in my life. This store has improved 10 fold, over the last 18 months. The staff seem to be some of the nicest people I've ever met and I can say honestly not one incident. I even follow the One Way arrows going around in circles many times finding other customers are idiots, oh well. One of my favourite stores for weekly grocery shopping. This Walmart is massive! Plenty of parking outside and underground. They have an attached Tim Hortons and McDonalds in their super centre as well. This Walmart has pretty much everything you would want to find during your shopping needs. Fresh produce, Deli area, Bakery, Dairy, Frozen foods, Aisles and aisles of snacks and boxed/canned foods, Cleaning products, Beauty centre, Clothing, Electronics, Home Decor/goods, Appliances, etc... Just be a savvy shopper because there are certain items you can find cheaper here or more expensive comparing to other supermarkets. Their multi-saving deals are pretty decent though. Overall, the Walmart is kept relatively organized and there's plenty of check-out options from the regular cashiers to express to self-check out. A downside is they haven't adopted tapping for your credit card - so no Apply Pay - inconvenient when I forget my wallet. In the end, it's a Walmart Super Centre - simple as that. read more

This place depresses me beyond belief. Bigger than you could even begin to imagine it to be, the building interior is a dizzying colossus of garbage and florescent lights. Why do they need all of this space? It's like a cancer, spreading its repulsiveness and killing small businesses in its wake. What's worse than that? How about abandoning a perfectly good (albeit ugly) building with monster parking lot that is the Walmart of the past, to rebuild a "Super Centre" that is even more grim than the mammoth that still exists, but remains empty because it isn't as convenient for the lazy or uneducated or uncaring people to shop (also, the poor, obviously. But that's a whole other conversation that isn't appropriate at this juncture) But I digress. Obviously, I've been to the Walmart, so who the hell am I to preach? Just so happens that Walmart sells helium tanks and megaphones, both of which are a necessity for my job, and both of which are surprisingly hard to come by. Also, Walmarts of the world have this strange thing where they encourage RVers (is that a word?) to sleep overnight in the parking lot, meaning that Walmart also has power in the parking lot. Meaning, that if a person who lives in an apartment had a big messy job to do that involved power tools, this is an ideal place to do said job. Not that I've done that... *cough* Also, they sell food here. In Walmart. Food. Somewhere between the XXXXL shirts made by tiny hands in Indonesia, and the 85" televisions, and the car batteries, is food. read more

I've always loved Walmart because of the low prices and huge selection. The Walmart Super Centre in South Surrey exceeds my expectations. It is amazing! 1. It is always sparkling clean and very organized. The cosmetic shelves are especially organized. There is never any merchandise or garbage on the floor. It is easy to find what you are looking for because everything is in it's place, nicely on the shelf. 2. Lowest prices on everything, so I know I'm saving money. 3. The Super Center has EVERYTHING you could ever need. 1-STOP-SHOP! Groceries, Pharmacy, Canon Cameras, DVDs, Toys, Fitness Equiptment, Dyson Vacuums, Auto Equiptment, Paint, As-seen-on-TV products, Pet products, Baby products, Furniture, Office Equiptment.... A hair salon, a build-a-bear store, tim hortons, mc donalds, a nail salon, a portrait studio..... Plus, they have lots of stock, and never sold-out of things. 4. They are now open until 12 (Midnight). Which is handy for emergencies. 5. The staff is very friendly and they actually help you. 6. Parking is convenient. There is a huge lot, so you able to find a spot immediately. There is underground parking, too! 7. You don't have to stand in line very long to pay. There is an express line up (less than 12 items i think,) regular lines ups and self-serve line ups. I've never waited long at all. I LOVE Wal-Mart Super Center South Surrey! read more

I didn't know Wal-Mart carries fresh groceries! I thought maybe they had evolved into a Fred Meyer, but I was informed that only the "Super Centre" ones have vegetables and dairy. Makes sense. I liked the Italian section, which has good and cheap "strained tomato" and pear nectar. Also stocked up on crackers and whatever was on sale. The clothing section was interesting - "George". I wonder who came first, him or Joe Superstore. As for my "Asian Grocery" benchmarks, it had Daikon radish, but no Ponzu. Self-Checkouts available. The machines weren't fussy. The cart-escalator looked a bit scary, but was interesting. The downstairs parking is great! Don't need to worry about the rain. read more

Customer service by the name pam very horrible attitude, refused to return defective item for a customer over exaggerating she is refusing to return the item for her safety and the poor guy told her that the item is not working he wanted to exchange it. I noticed she did exchange some items and returned others with other customers. This is terrible Walmart getting bad reputation like that. If your worried that much spray the item with bleach disinfectant and wipe or stay at home there is absolutely no excuse for not exchanging an item especially if there is something wrong with it and its within the return exchange period. Bind by your consumer protection policies quit taking advantage of this pandemic to increase your sales and get ride off defective items. read more

I phoned in today around 5.00pm to find out if they had a product from sporting dept and spoke to 3 different females,one sounded East indian 2nd sounded like a Canadian and 3rd had a European accent and they all put me on a long hold approx 20-30+ minutes.Got so tired of waiting,and one of them said she will find out and call back after I provided the UPC #,which never happened,extremely disappointed with the very poor service. Prices are inflated. They're supposed to have the best prices but often it's way more than Superstore & even Save-On-Foods, depending on items. For a store that's based on prices, it's shocking. Actually someone should expose them for the crooks they are. I was in the WalMart by City Centre Mall - Central Surrey. I was so exctied when Walmart came to south surrey. Was shopping and bringing my flyers to pricematch from the start, two weeks ago i went to use a save on flyer and the employee told me very rudely that she wouldnt accept the flyer because it says CLUB PRICE*which before no other employee has ever said and has always accepted. Well I have now stopped buying my kids their lunch stuff there weekly because of her and this supposed rule(that isnt clear even to the employee's as i asked at the customer service desk). If you look at any of their competitors flyers they all say CLUB PRICE which to me means its almost like false advertising! I was so upset as i had all my kids with me and had done all my shopping and i believe my time is valuable ...another clerk ended up doing it for me but i had already sent my kids back with the stuff as i was not going to buy it if i could go elsewhere for cheaper. Just a heads up!!!!!!!! It's a big place and you'll need a few visits to get to know every department. Lot's of checkouts but the self serve always seem to be off when I go shopping. Best time to go is not on weekends unless you go close to opening or closing hours. Open from 6am to midnight, best hours indeed. 24hours would be nice for emergencies but they do need to clean! Lot's of parking and close to other shopping stores if you can't find what you need here. read more

A really big Wal-Mart. It's like mega Wal-Mart, and if you need to buy something which is sold out at other Wal-Marts, you'll gonna find it here. I wouldn't drive here all the way from Vancouver unless you want to buy something that's not available at other Wal-Marts. If you've been to Wal-Mart Super Centres in the U.S., it's no different at all. It's like comparing Safeway to Superstore when it comes to size. There is also a full grocery section with produce, dairy, frozen, and meat. The grocery section is cheaper than Safeway for all items. read more

Wouldn't let me return a unopend memory card. At night time the employees are often seen on big groups talking and socializing It seems like they are on coffee break 24/7. It must be a easy job and not even them can accomplish the simplest tasks. (Hence the reason they are working at Wal-Mart in the first place.) Out of all the Walmarts I have visitied, this one is probably my favorite. Not because it is really anything spectacular, but maybe because they figure things need to be a little bit more well-kept in good ol' la-dee-da White Rock. I find the layout of this location more convenient and the interior to be the least depressing. Yes, we've graduated from that strangely-colored walls, warehouse-y, Superstore-like look that leaves the 8 year old in me just wanting to go home, and I'm glad. Produce here is so-so, so definitely smell your melons and squeeze your apples (no dirty jokes here, just plain quality checking!) before you buy. On the downside, they never seem to have my false eyelashes in stock, and they took out self checkout, so now I actually have to interact with other human beings. Ugh. read more

I have avoided Wal-Mart for so long in Surrey just because it gets so crowded and you basically have to fight your way through isles. This Wal-Mart however is much better then all the others I've been to. The isles are plenty wide enough to get though, and it's big enough that it doesn't feel super crowded when it gets busy. And, if the weather is crap, they also have underground parking, and a nifty shopping cart escalator to get your stuff down under with you. If ever I need to shop at Wal-Mart, this is one of the few I don't mind going to. read more

Wouldn't allow the return of an unopened, unused game gift card. Manager pointed to the back of the receipt where it says gift cards cannot be returned. If the clerk doesn't tell you before purchasing the card then you're not going to know until the transactions completed. Good work Walmart!!! Nothing really special here. Pros are that it's really damn big. It's got a McDonald's and a Tim Horton's inside, so there. There are quite a lot of cons though, Service is really shitty. Lines are always being budged with other people. Express line always has that broken-down mom buying shit-tons of school supplies. Did I mention in the express line? Electronics section is INCREDIBLY out of date. In the video game section, before they got rid of it, Fallout 4 was in the New Arrivals section. In October. Of 2016. For context, Fallout 4 was released in November 2015. The staff are okay, besides the fact that they have incredibly shitty executives. Guitar Hero was recommended to my 7 year old cousin, because the executive said it was perfect for a 7 year old. Turns out the controller was heavy as hell, and the live crowd didn't add any positive influence to the already bulky, hard to play, and shitty game. I'm sure he was way more happy when he walked out with 120 dollar's worth of amiibos. I wouldn't recommend this place, unless you're an American who doesn't give a shit about anything. read more

I got 2 pair of glasses there Walmart based on an old prescription. My old glasses still work, I'm wearing them now. The 2 new pair both caused nausea and migraines. I complained and they said I need to keep wearing them longer. After a while I gave up and they said it had been too long and there was nothing they could do... The next year I was told to get an eye exam and new prescription so I got an exam and 2 new pair. They are not as bad but they still cause mild migraines and light sensitivity by the end of the day. I realized it today when I put on my old scratched glasses and have no headache or light sensitivity. I just called and they say it has been too long for my newest pair and there is nothing they can do. I can make an appointment and spend more money to be told the glasses are fine and it's just me. Now I have 4 useless pair of glasses. 2 cause severe problems and 2 cause mild problems by the end of the work day. My really old glasses still work fine. UPDATE: Sent an email to walmart executive. Good selection and clean inside. Lots of ample parking and easy to drive in and out of. They need to work on faster customer service at the tills and/ or ensuring there are not long lines. It can get quite busy in there and then there is the dreaded line up. Has a McDonalds and Tim Hortons if you want to grab a bite. Overall well stocked, clean, organized and spacious store. read more

I had to return some distilled water which I bought in abundance from another walmart store, when I got to the store customer service desk I was the shocked to see the attitude of the women who was helping me, I was trying to get her name but she did not even have name tag, she was like I am not going to refund you the whole amount since the other store messed up your billing, I was like "what the hell?" I did not say that, I begged her to help kindly she said there is nothing she can do to help, later I spoke to the store Co manager Mr Mark who was super nice guy and he just asked the same lady to refund the said amount, she was able to do, I don't understand if she could have done it earlier why did she hesitate to do it, I really wanted to put her name here but she is lucky that I have not seen her tag. So I have tried to give this store a chance far to many times and they just continue to disappoint even after several calls to the store manager and even the president of Walmart Canada....they just don't care, they make billions regardless of all the customers they lose. Produce is shit garbage, store is an absolute mess, bakery....don't even get me started, its beyond the word I used for their produce. Oh and the meat....stay away, absolutely disgusting butchering, water injected for weight and previously frozen sold as fresh. Parking lot lights have been out for over a year, escalator is constantly broken down for weeks if not months at a time. No baskets or carts, you always have to go search for one at a check out. Walmart does not honour the Canadian scanning code of practice so don't give a crap if pricing is wrong. This store has so many employees just standing around doing nothing, yet the place is a disaster....I don't get it. I have just stopped shopping here now and drive the extra 5 minutes to get to superstore who actually knows how to properly order their stock and actually know where things are in their store. I bought a few clothing items from Walmart online that were the wrong size. I went to take them back to Walmart customer service and they gave me a huge hassle. They started to tell me that the slip that came with the package wasn't enough. The purchase slip that came with the pack wasn't enough for these nasty people. Went last week for 6 food items - 3 were sold out ???? and when I asked two separate produce people about the one item in the produce dept., they had no clue what I was talking about. Anyone know what pomegranite seeds are???? lol. It was in your flyer people - read it! Yikes!. Couldn't find a few things - hhmmmm - I thought Wal-Mart had everything! Yes, their food may be cheaper than Safeway however, Save-on Foods, had it on sale last week, and Superstore will have it on sale next week - so why would you spend your Canadian money on an American company????? Floor space is far too big, previous store was much nicer with smaller floor space to get exactly what you need then leave, at this store you have to walk forever and ever, and then can't find it anyway! And the lovely line ups - only half the cashiers were open, so we waited and waited. I booked an appointment to some snow tires I purchased here this past weekend. Brought my car in half and hour early and was assured it would only take about 45 minutes to get the job done. My wife baby and I went and shopped, crossed the street to White Spot where from where I was seated I noticed my car had not moved yet. This is a good hour after my appointment time. We finished eating and went back to the auto department where we (as suspected) found our had not been started yet. (There had been a loud mouth customer with no appointment trying to squeeze the deal of the century on tires talking to the manager when i initially arrived to drop the car) Well lo and behold said loud mouth was there picking up the car he brought in for tires. We confronted the manager about this and he admitted he let the other customer get his work done ahead of us. Needless to say the Manager of the Automotive department is a jerk, not impressed at all and won't be back to that location for automotive reasons gain. read more
