Ordered a whirlpool washer / dryer set, paid for the stacking kit and was told it would arrive from the vendor with the units. Two separate days the installation guys came and did not arrive with the stacking kit. When I called to sort things out, sohail (sp?) from the store continued to interrupt me on the phone, accused me of confusing him, despite my being very clear, made no effort to try and understand the situation, implied that I was not listening and was very rude in general. Ralph (store manager) called me back to rectify the situation. Was great, he was very nice and came up with a solution (credit me back the stacking kit and arrange an install) that I was very happy with. Ralph changed an otherwise frustrating and negative experience to a neutral one. Will still only rate 1 star due to frustration. Should not have to wait around 3x to get a washer dryer installed. read more

Poor customer service, please read before purchasing appliances from Home Depot - On Sunday July 15th, I attended the Home Depot in South Surrey British Columbia and purchased a Maytag Washer and Dryer. On Friday the 20th, the appliances were delivered and installed. The delivery was basic with no effort at customer relations. Within one hour we ran the washer. We heard a very disturbing noise in one part of the wash cycle. It was grinding, gear mesh sound. We were aware that top load washers could be noisy so we called Maytag customer service that listened to the sound over the phone and advised that the sound was not normal. They also sent us a video through Email. The video depicted the normal sounds their top load washers make. The sound we were experiencing was not similar at all.We called the Home Depot 1-800 number as directed on the purchase receipt. This call clearly went to a foreign call centre where we first spoke to an operator and then a supervisor. We were told that Maytag would have to dispatch a repairman regardless of the fact that our brand new machine was literally one hour old. This was not acceptable and we insisted on a new replacement machine. After elevating our complaint to a supervisor, in what can only be described as an arduous and stressful series on conversations and "on hold" periods, we were assured that they would be sending a E mail to Maytag to secure a replacement machine. Given that it was a Friday we would not have an answer until Monday. We ended the call with an uneasy feeling and very little comfort that our concerns had been heard or understood.I immediately called the Home Depot store and connected with Angel, an assistant manager. I again fully expressed our concerns and our desire for a replacement machine or a return and refund. She assured me that notes were on file and that my request would be addressed.On Monday July 23rd by 500 PM we had heard nothing. I called Angel and she advised she would follow up. I received a call from a customer service representative that again told me that Maytag was closed for the night and that they would have an answer for me on Tuesday. Clearly the hours spent on the phone with the foreign call centre, the previous Friday and their assurance that they were sending a message to Maytag was a big waste of time. I escalated my call to a well spoken and apparently and capable supervisor named Brian. I later learned that Brian was with the project support centre. Brian listened to my entire story again and we agreed that the machine would be replaced or the appliances would be picked up and refunded. Brian advised he would call me back Tuesday, July 24th. Brian called (from a phone number that displayed as "unknown") Tuesday, July 24th at approximately 200 pm. He said he had bad news. Maytag insisted on sending a repairman. The machine would not be replaced. I advised that I wished to return both machines and get a refund for both. Brian said he would work on the return and contact me Wednesday, July 25th. I called Angel to update her and express my frustration. She assured me she would call me the next day. It did not happen. By 5:00 PM on July 25th, I had not received any new information from Home Depot Customer service. I could not call Brian because his contact number was not provided and the call display was blocked. I called Angel and left a message but did not receive a call back. On the evening of July 25th. I sent Sally the store manager an Email that outlined our concerns related to absence of ownership of our complaint a solution and a lack of communication all contributing to failed customer service. I asked for a response from both her and the regional manager. No response from anyone. In desperation, I called the appliance delivery line at Home Depot and learned that our appliance were scheduled for pickup the next day, Friday July 27th. This was the first we heard of it. We received a computer generated call at 600 pm on July 26th indicating our "appliances would be delivered" the next day. On July 27th with no proactive communication from any human being, a truck arrived and both our new Maytag Washer and dryer were removed. We heard nothing from anyone about or refund or an apology for the absence of accountability. We spoke to a helpful sales clerk who arranged for the refund to be available to us at the store if we came in. On July 31st a new identical Maytag washer and dryer set were delivered after we purchased them at a different store. The delivery was professional and efficient.The machines were tested and worked perfectly.The noise we had experienced in the Home Depot purchased machines was not present. As of August 1st we have heard nothing from Home Depot, no response to our complaint to the manager and no recognition for a ridiculous policy and absence of customer support and service. read more
