5:00 pm and we were at costco wholesale in richmond, which honestly explains the parking lot madness. we don't usually come to the richmond location because it's less convenient and always feels extra congested. but every time we do, i remember why it's worth it. the asian snack selection is elite, stewed and salt baked quail eggs, salted duck eggs and the overall mix just hits different, treadmill and gym equipment were on display, and available on costco.ca. i've also been seriously impressed with their kbeauty selection. i grabbed the tir tir milky toner i've been eyeing, $10 off, two full size bottles plus a travel size. costco bundle logic makes it feel like you're practically being paid to take it home. and then...there's this. costco wholesale, richmond, gold counter. yes, gold. not just skincare and snacks, actual gold bars sitting in a glass case like it's the most normal thing to pick up between rotisserie chicken and avocados. pamp suisse bars. neatly displayed. casually priced in the thousands. no big deal, but note, limit of 2 per 4 days, and no returns. one minute i'm debating what groceries we need for the week, and the next i'm staring at investment grade bullion thinking, "should i?" and of course, we still ended the trip the only proper way, with the $1.50 polish hot dog and pop combo. somehow you can contemplate buying gold and still walk out with a giant hot dog and a refillable soda for $1.50. after all, being a costco member has its privileges. you can glow up your skincare routine and your asset portfolio in one trip. read more

This is a crazy busy Costco on a Sunday PM. Lots of people waiting in line just for samples. Sadly, very rude customers that cut you off, stop in the middle of aisles and talk louder than most. Also sad that children and running everywhere. Craziest was the frenzy at the clothing area...felt bad for the employees having to sort through clothing that didn't belong and of course the re-folding. Being from the Lower 48, I was hoping there was a gas station...not. Interesting that the hotdog and soda was $1.50 Canadian! Anyways, being a US visitor I won't ever come back. PS - The backing up into the parking spaces really slows traffic and blocks both lanes for everyone. PPS - The parking lot was full of trash especially cardboard boxes and shopping carts not returned to their stalls. read more

Finally posting this. So, I love Costco in the States. This Costco in Richmond BC is so crowded. It wasn't even the weekend. It was busy on a Monday! You can get stuck behind a slow guy and his cart. Then 7 people weave around you. The lines for samples are twice as long as what I normally see in the states. There are people coming out of the woodwork! (Figuratively...Obviously because this is a Costco and everything is concrete and metal fixtures.) Ok, so it was explained to me by a nice local that this store supplies an area with a population that would normally support multiple Costcos. That's why it's SO CROWDED! Anyway, this is the only Costco I've been to that had Poutine Fries at the food court. Eh... the fries and gravy were a little underwhelming but glad I tried them. Overall... it was nice. Yelpers in Socal always talk about visiting the Chinese Costco (Resco) in the city of Industry. Why go to a fake Chinese Costco when you can go to a real Chinese Costco? This Costco is as Chinese as it gets unless you go to a Costco in China. This is not a good one to visit for a pit stop. No gas station here. They do have a food court and restrooms. First you gotta find parking. The lot was so crowded, I don't even know how I found a space. We needed to buy some stuff in a Canadian Costco. They have over the counter muscle relaxers that you can't buy in the USA. They have Sensodyne toothpaste at a fraction of the USA price. My wife had a list and we were on the hunt. Yes, they do have more Asian stuff than the Costco's in San Francisco or Puente Hills. We got everything that we wanted. They beat any California Chinese Costco. Go to a different Costco if you want to find parking and don't want to be in close proximity to other shoppers. read more

We came to this Costco to see what the differences are compared to the ones in Seattle. We purchased Organika Collagen Protein, which I think is only available at Costco in Canada. We also found that this Costco does not carry any liquor due to provincial liquor control laws. Other than that, the Costco is pretty similar to the ones in the US. First time in Vancouver, and as a Costco Stan, our first stop had to be the Costco near the airport for one thing and one thing only, the classic Polish hot dog for $1.50. In the states, they got rid of the polish in 2018, and all we get is the half flavor of the all beef hot dog. I hadn't had on since 2018, and it was just as good as a remembered! It has so much for flavor compared to its counter part and wish they'd bring it back to US costcos. We landed in Vancouver late Thursday morning, and I've never seen a Costco so busy at this time of the day. Definitely a more stressful shopping experience but they carry stuff that the states don't have so it's cool to browse around. For the golfers out there, this was the first place I saw the Kirkland signature golf irons, which looked really cool. Overall, if you are a Costco super fan like me, it's definitely worth a stop before or at the end of your trip, even it's just for the polish dog! lol read more

Pretty standard crazy Costco. Parking is very challenging unless you get here before it opens. Most Costco's open at 9 as their posted hours. For some reason, this one open at 8:30. So my suggestions are simple: 1. Get here by 8:15. (You will have plenty of open parking spots) 2. Have a list and stick to it. 3. Have an understanding of where the items you need are. 4. Be out by 9. And I can still do all this and stop for a piece of pizza on the way out. Costco tends to be busy. But this location in particular it's a living nightmare. The people who shop here have zero regard for anyone around them, I've been hit multiple times by shopping carts, physically pushed over, and more. It's insane. Good luck finding a parking spot, good luck even getting into the parking lot! I've had to park in a side street and walk over. The store itself, whatever, but this location is overwhelming. Just make the drive up to a different location, where it will still be slightly overwhelming, but not nearly as much as this location. read more

This was my first visit to the Costco in Richmond and it had ample offerings of all essential goods and some specialty Canadian options...like the value packs for Canadian Nestle chocolates and other Canadian foods. My biggest feedback would be for the staff to somehow better streamline the check out process. The lines circled from the check out stations all the way back to the frozen meat section. Without staff towards the back, people were often confused, aisles congested and some people did their best to cut the line which caused more frustration. We also came on a Wednesday, so I can only imagine the chaos on a weekend. Kudos to the staff though who kept their cool despite frustrated patrons everywhere. read more

Didn't realize that Vancouver only accepts Master or Costco cc which i didn't bring with me. Good thing they accepted good ol USD but i got attitude from that particular employee! well, i have never gotten any attitude from any Costco fr US at all. The service here is really good, way better than the other outlets in the metro vancouver area. My tire was losing air and I was told to get it checked and fixed at Costco since I bought my tires from them. The mechanic who added air to the tire advised me to go to the tire office as it looked like air was still leaking. It was quite a wait at the tire office as people were wanting to change to their winter tires. I was told they were so backed up they could not fix my tire on the same day. Instead they would change to my spare tire and fix my tire later for me to pick up in a couple of days. Or they could change to my spare tire and I bring the flat tire to another Costco nearer me. I liked that they gave me alternatives. Turned out my tire had a nail. I was told to wait 2.5 hours for them to change to my spare tire. When I went back to collect my car, they told me they managed to fix my tire after all. That was unexpected and totally appreciated. The staff also brought me out to show me where my car was as I was not familiar with the layout of this Costco (first visit). Again, very helpful and awesome staff. I came back the next day for them to check the torque. Apparently they need to check it after 40 km every time they install a tire. I think it is only at this outlet as I do not recall having to go back again when I bought my tires at another Costco 2 years ago. It was a 30 minutes wait as I was there when they opened. In the warehouse itself, the service was also good. The staff would help with the self check out. I asked and was told this outlet is the only one where staff would help customers with scanning the items. That was very helpful. The only drawback to this outlet is the parking. While very tender even when pan-fried the Australian wagyu wasn't sliced thin enough to be considered suitable for hotpot/shabu, but it was $5 off so overall not a bad deal. There were price difference on some items so not sure if they could do the price match. It's great that they had Kiosk for self check. Keep in mind that they only accepted, Master and debit cards. This Costco is no busier than other Costcos in the US on a Sunday. I actually think it is less busy than my personal Costco. I like to go to Costcos in different states and countries since each one sells different items for their communities. We didn't need anything after our cruise but I still like to peruse. I found salmon jerky and we definitely do not have that my local Costcos. The jerky is so yummy and fit in my suitcase just fine. For a Sunday, we were in an out in less than 30 mins and that included me looking at almost all of the aisles. We did self checkout and there wasn't a line at all, but in Canada, Costco doesn't take Visa and only takes MC. read more

I hit up this Costco for some last minute purchasing before going to the airport. I've read several reviews mentioned how incredibly busy this Costco is and how frustrating it is to find a parking spot. As I drove in the driveway, the parking lot did seem quite small for a Costco. There were no open spots. I just got lucky that someone left a stall with no one else waiting for it. I went to this Costco on a Tuesday, so I guess it's a lot more tamer than the weekends because it wasn't very busy. First look, it looks like any other Costco as in the setup and placement of everything. However, I found this Costco to be a little unorganized and messy, and less visually appealing in displaying its products. Probably [the] or second worst Costco in BC. Warehouse including parking lot is too small for the demographics here. It's fairly common for there to be altercations in the parking lot and even seeing the RCMP there. There's much gaslighting and disinformation about this Costco (including deals and the implication that it's unique--false) and how similar it is to other locations, say in the USA--false. For the most part, Costco USA management and warehouse employees are service oriented and are superior in every way including efficiency and handling the volume. I never been to any Costco in the USA where the line-up to return an item is out the door, far away. Management at this location aren't good and they do whatever they want (more or less). They're not supposed to have their employees in the express lanes. Other locations like the head office in Burnaby insist you do your own scanning and only on rare exception they intervene. When staff become get notified senior management from their head office in Burnaby will be dropping buy, they stop with scanning your items at self-checkout. Although I prefer they scan for me, they're not following Costco's own policies (which is another issue at this location). Staff are unfriendly at this location because of the [rude which includes inconsiderate) customers. Perhaps the management here too? Costco Richmond is always [terribly] busy including the tire centre. A lot of hoarding from shoppers sending items overseas. Whilst Willingdon location stopped carrying chicken wings in the food court, this location ditched their chicken burger which was gross and replaced it with the same wings. I remember this location when it had stir fried chicken or beef teriyaki at the food court. Costco Richmond is never a pleasant shopping experience. Logically, it should be moved elsewhere but that's not going to happen. This partly explains the increase in traffic at the Willingdon location. read more

Located in Richmond area, this is a busy Costco. You have to have patience in finding parking, even on weekdays. The checkout lines can be long, going towards the back of the store. They have similar items you see in the US Costcos, and of course items you only see in Canada. Overall it is worth going here if you can, since they do have some things that are made in Canada and can be good gifts to bring back to the US. Remember to have a Mastercard as they do not take Visa Costco card. read more

I purchased new Goldstar membership coupon from Groupon last night and went there to redeem for membership activation. The stuff at the membership service said the system was down and couldn't redeem the coupon. Then she seemed to be very pushy to persuade me for executive membership upgrade. She claimed I could get more cash back with executive level compared to the gold star. But I was executive member 5 years ago and I didn't use it often. So I know goldstar is enough for my situation. But she insisted on recommending the executive and said I wasn't really executive member. Just because I didn't make good cash back. That really disgusted me. I finally said I made my mind to remain gold level. Then she approached to the supervisor. The supervisor said they cannot activate this for me because my last membership ended in 2020. The lady said it should be more than 18 months before new activation. Then I showed them the website said after 12 months expiration, it's okay to use the coupon again. The lady insisted on 18 months twice and she didn't feel sorry about her attitude and has no knowledge of rules for where she works at. The supervisor again said the system was down and couldn't activate the coupon for me today. But he wrote me the phone number and ask me to call for check if I want to activate. That lady needs some training of how to talk to the customer with appropriate attitude and should have basic knowledge of rules at Costco. read more

You really just can't go wrong with this. Cheap, huge, and beautiful. The pizzas are also an awesome deal, though I didn't try them at this location. The tire shop is located conveniently off to one side, and the staff are quite helpful in terms of looking what one needs. Really, it doesn't matter when you come to this location, prepare to see cars in the lot, and people shopping for 'who-knows-what' and this is what this place really is. If you have been to one Costco, you probably are saying, you've been to them all, and that is true. This one, they definitely check for your membership prior to entering, they don't hold up the line either, as they have more than one person checking from the entrance to the exit for 'member's only!' admission. It's the regular zoo here, anyday of the week, one big warehouse with good prices. If your here for food shopping, just know that practically everything is in bulk, luckily for me there are only very few mouths to feed but for you who is coming, well it won't take much to fill the small trunk of your Honda Civic, just don't get carried away. They have a big bakery section, big butcher area where you can watch a factory of white coat workers chop up the red meat and start packaging. Your usual frozen isle sections filled with all the fries and pizza pops in the mass load you can eat. Need gum, or candy, your getting the king sizes of these also. Aside from the food, there's other things, from washroom vanities, to rolling toolboxes, blankets, socks and bulk underwear, video games, movies and discounted books. Fashion shopping this is not, but it's a place where if your looking for something specific (for all the times I have been here, people seem to know what they are looking for) come here, especially if your paying the yearly membership. Haven't tried the food here but the hot dogs look big, and many people buy them. This is a review of the Costco cafeteria only and not a favourable one I'm afraid. Every last single time I order food here I feel like they've forgotten me. My orders are always dead simple, usually just a single item like the chicken and fries, yet it takes no less than 8 minutes each time. Last time was 15 minutes for this item. If it was only once or twice I wouldn't feel compelled to write a review. It's every single time and I've been a member for decades. I know the order numbers are not necessarily sequential but when you have #320, almost every single time the call outs go: 316, 317, 318, 319....... 321, 322. Every time I feel like I'm on some prank episode of Just For Laughs. Most of the customers are waiting so long they zone out and don't hear their number called or otherwise cannot make out what the staff are yelling because they rarely enunciate. It clogs the exit for everyone. For a while they was hope when they started using a tablet and TV to list the numbers but their writing wasn't always legible either (is that a 4, a 7, or a 9?). Then they got rid of the system altogether for some reason. What Costco needs is a software prioritization system which results in people leaving faster and which ditches the paper system they're using today. From observation, I would guess the currently favoured priority is on larger orders first since I never fail to see at least two people who ordered 10+ hotdogs or 3 poutines, each with order numbers 10 higher than mine been served faster. It's like when you're at the office and go to print a single page document only to find a coworker printing 150 copies of a 20 page doc in front of you at the printer. Then other coworkers show up looking to get their print outs. A crowd starts to form. In my experience both Costco Japan (check out the one in Makuhari especially) and the various ones in the US run tighter ships and even carry more items on their menus like the very tasty Chicken Bake. I hope Costco Richmond takes this constructively and decides to ameliorate the issue. Literally hop on a plane with a notepad and pen and find out how it can be done better. read more

Out of all the Costco's I go to, this has got to be the crazy busiest one. Finding parking reminds of the old attraction at the PNE called Demolition Derby!! When you first enter, all seems well. Big open entrance. You show your card and get a flyer filled with coupons. On the way out ... your wallet is lighter and your sporting a few bumps and bruises because of how crowded the store is! To get to the exit, it's like funnel effect. The path gets smaller and smaller and smaller. Like all Costco stores, the products carried here are competitively priced. most items are carried at all stores. Some items are specific to a certain location due to the clientele demand in that area. I get most of my photo needs done at Costco. Quality and price are excellent. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the best days to go for sampling ... if you can survive the crowds. read more

According to the frazzled cashier at this Costco and her beleagured bagger - this Richmond Costco is the busiest one in North America. The busiest one in North America, people. Visit at your own risk. And so,like moths to a flame, we decided to come here on a Sunday afternoon with our friends from Germany to show them that Aldi doesn't hold a candle to Costco. We quickly found that it's impossible to hold a candle or anything else at this Costco, due to the massive crowds and ridiculous parking situation. In describing the size of the parking lot, I can only say that it's the smallest Costco parking lot I've seen. Perhaps the parking lot would be considered large for a hair salon, but we weren't at a hair salon. We were at a Costco. Besides not having enough parking there also weren't enough cart return areas. Actually, there were none as far as I could tell - so the combination of no parking plus people throwing used carts everywhere, plus the fact that people swarm to Costco like it's the second coming of Elvis conducting free Hebrew National hot dog tastings made the experience nerve wracking though strangely satisfying. Once inside Costco, things were not much better. People swarmed in all directions with carts. The Kirkland brand down jackets area, whose target demographic is the Asian populations of Richmond and Greater Vancouver, was a hub of activity as people searched for that coveted size SMALL. Our German friends marveled at the lower prices of a Cuisinart mixer, which was $100 cheaper at Costco than in Germany and toyed with the idea of bringing one back in their luggage. My better half surprisingly purchased a bulk container of cookies which he claimed were not available in Seattle. It was surprising, as I did not notice it till we had returned to the car. We did not auction off our parking spot to the highest bidder, though I'm pretty sure someone would've paid for it. Overall, an exhausting, not-recommended experience. And woe to the person who leaves their parking spot, only to realize they forgot that carton of eggs, or some other staple purchase. read more

At just $4.50, the large serving here beats many other places hands-down, for good taste and value. Another snack to get while here is the hotdog & pop combo. For only $1.50, you get an all-beef/polish sausage hotdog with condiments (help yourself) AND a 20oz soft drink. The hotdog tastes pretty decent, and the drinks are refillable. As for the shopping, this is one of the bigger Costco locations, catering to the Richmond crowd. They have a pharmacy, an optical centre, and photography services available here.
