This is a small Walmart, so I knew they likely would not have what I was looking for (they didn't) but they really need to upgrade this store. It's a little run down looking and dirty, not much selection, and why are there no cashiers anymore? It's all self service check out which was completely backed up. If you know you have a busy location, keep some humans employed please. The self-checkout is problematic. The computerized registers can "freeze" and refuse to function. Earlier this year, I had to wait at least 20 minutes just to get my receipt. This was after the attendant employee had to shut it down & reboot, but warned me it would take that long. Recently, I had scanned & bagged entire cart, when just a slight "bump" or "tap" of debit card caused computer to freeze. Attendant had to void sale & told me to re-ring. And all check-out lanes are sealed off w/tape -- looks like a crime scene! (service here is indeed a felony). Only one lane open and it's very small -- people were stuffed into it w/overflowing carts. When I commented on this to attendant, she was abrasive, hostile. I opted to keep my money in my wallet and left. We don't expect a lot from WalMart, the bar is set low, but these stores are increasingly hell-holes. Meijer is a much better experience. If the Walton Gang doesn't give a damn, why should anyone shop here? read more

Today was my last straw. They do not ever have anything in stock, ever. Tried to buy some over night oats and they were expired by two months...gross! This manager THREATENED ME calling the police. Yelling at me. "You want me to call the police" My background is Hispanic. I am a USA Citizen though. It's a small store. It's not a Supercenter. Just a Walmart. Half of the stuff they have on their app is at every other store in the area except this one. Stuff is thrown around sometimes, making it hard to find what you need. What the actual F? This is the craziest most bizarre Walmart I have been to ever. I had a in-store pick-up. Naturally, the two spaces reserved for pick-up were taken by non pick-up customers which is not only annoying, but incredibly LAZY. I just feel like no one here gives one F. Went here after a late dinner before they closed which was at 11pm and we came in at around 10:45. We went up to the register at 11pm when they tell you over the intercom to bring up your items to the register and as we approached the registers they told us the registers are closed so we couldn't checkout and had to leave our basket there. They did not say on the intercom that you would not be able to check out if you came up there at 11pm. The lady shut down the registers right when we came up there. It's clean for the most part, also I've never visited a restroom that was dirty. I feel that many departments, namely the photo department is understaffed at both locations. The self serve photos are shoot or miss and you'll be lucky to find someone friendly. Half the time much of their staff seems unwilling to work much less express their desire to be there. Meh... I would have give them zero stars but there wasn't an option! I went shopping today and picked up my bags and left through a regular check out. I tried calling the store 17 times and no one ever answered after I got home because I was missing some items. So I drove back to Walmart and they said they watched the cameras and that I took all of my things. I was missing $40 in items that I had to re-purchase. On December 9th 2020, while shopping at Walmart Schererville I had a manager watch my daughter, grandson, and I scan our items because we had full shopping carts, & wanted to use self check out, instead of dealing with an associate in a line. Initially we were kicked out of self check out area, and told that we had too many items (when there was no sign posted referencing an item limit), and when we got to the "belt" option, we were watched by management! Because I have NEVER experienced anything like this, it took me 10 minutes to realize what was going on, but when I finally realized that my family was truly being watched, I became hurt, angry, & sad. As a black shareholder, a Walmart personal card holder, A 2 business membership and card holder of Sam's Club, & LOYAL customer, I am ashamed to see how blacks that choose to patronize the Walmart in Schererville Indiana are treated!! I come here sometimes because they do have some items I want/need that are cheaper here than they are anywhere else. I will buy 5 just so I don't have to come back for a while. When I come I try to do it on a calm day otherwise I will lose my $h!t. People that shop here are extremely rude!! I'm guessing it goes with the mentality. Bought two Keurig water filters (that go in the water tank) online to pickup in store, picked them up, took them home, opened the box and one of the filters was torn open. Remodeled WalMart! Wide aisles, clean, bright and a huge selection in every category. I visited the pharmacy. The old WalMart pharmacy was cramped and there was always a long line. There is a nice wide aisle and tons of people behind the counter to take, fill and distribute prescriptions. I found the wait of 30 minutes pleasant. The store is well organized. There are two clearance aisles that are a bit of a mess. I'm not sure if they are just clearing out stuff from remodel or if this is a permanent section. Much is unmarked. When I picked up my prescriptions and asked for a consult, I was directed to a private cubical and the pharmacist came over immediately. I'm going back! read more

Stopped by to quickly pick up some dog food and misc items. Two Cashiers working one was dealing with some type of customer issue (guessing price of an item). I counted 15 people standing in line waiting. Not a manager or another employee around to open another register or get the issue resolved. I went to Walmart on my birthday to look for some home organization tools. Because they are remodeling, they have gotten rid of tons of things they used to carry. It is awful. It is like a Best Buy with a grocery store inside. I got so fed up trying to shop there, I did something I've never done before. I walked out. The lines are long and slow now. 60 percent of the registers stays closed now. They have no help anymore. The self checkout lines aren't much better due to stopping after each item. This is the only Walmart I shop at now, and I live in Illinois. The prices are very good and so is the service. Every cashier I've met has been friendly and courteous. The store is well spaced out and always neat, nothing is scattered everywhere or on the floor. They often have pretty good sales going on that I always appreciate. read more
