The temperature unexpectedly got a little cooler and Mrs. K. asked if we could pop to the store to pick up something with sleeves that was inexpensive. I suggested Walmart and she said that would be okay. This Walmart is not a Supercenter. They have a limited selection of food and groceries but they do have a full department of softlines. We did some browsing, checked some prices and in the end, found an inexpensive hoodie that would get the job done. A reasonable color, a good fit and the style that was desired. It's hard to so no. The store was decently stocked, the parking lot was tidy and there was no merchandise on the floor today. Overall, a pretty good Walmart. I was stuck in the area for work with very limited options, so I tried out this Walmart. First, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Second, this had to have been a former Kmart that slapped a Walmart sticker on the door and called it a wrap. The grocery section was very limited; the freezer and refrigerator section consisted of one half of an aisle each. There was no deli, no bakery and the aisles were TIGHT! As a New Yorker, I have neverrrrr seen a Walmart empty, especially on a Saturday!! The staff was friendly, attentive, asking if people needed help! I've never seen anything like it! THIS IS NOT a SUPER WALMART so they have limited GROCERY SELECTION with no veggies or fruits & little in-house baked goods. They still have a relatively good selection of foodstuffs but they are STRONGER in other areas PARTICULARLY in the Housewares Department. This place is VERY CLEAN & IS ALWAYS WELL STOCKED. This is our second go to Walmart. Our first is a closer super center, but this one is not too far away so if we are in the area and need something we know Walmart has, we might stop in here. Recent shopping was for a couple AC units. They did not have too many, but enough of a selection and some stock so we picked up 2. The boxes would not scan properly and another more experienced cashier had to assist the first one and manually put in the serial numbers. So our checkout took a few minutes longer which was not too big of a deal. As we were walking out, an Associate came out from the other side and yelled she needed to check our receipt. No problem, as we always comply. Quickly looking at the receipt she remarked we only paid for one. We told her no, we paid for two. Unless one of them was double priced. She scrutinized the receipt again and said "oh, there is a minus 1" which did not make any sense to us, but she gave us the receipt back and we were in our way. Did not feel like a good experience as we were leaving, I understand how some stores have resorted to checking receipts but treat us all as "customers who may come back" if you want our return business. read more

I have asked 3 associates for assistance who have told me they are not allowed behind the counter and that person is on break. This review is for the Walmart in Groton, CT. It's a smaller store with a small grocery section. We went around Christmas time and shopped for about an hour. When we arrived at the check-out lanes there were only two cashiers open with very long lines, backing up into the clothing section. We asked ourselves if we wanted to stand in line for about 15-20 minutes. Then I saw a supervisor and asked her if she could please open another check-out line because the lines were really long. She said, rather rude, "No, they're not!" I said, "Yes, the lines are really long." Again, she said, "NO, they're not!" That was it. We both decided to leave our cart where it was and just walk out. We know we could have used the self-checkout but ... we don't work there. Besides, we enjoy chatting with the cashiers at the check-out. From now on if we need to shop at Wallyword we drive all the way over to Waterford. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!! My husband went to buy an AC in person and they charge alot more for one with the remote and it's the same exact one. Also, just to speak to a manager took a long time and the cashier was a rude b*tch!!!!.. Another thing is, they said my gold card was declined; however, it had enough money on it. Not our problem that they are too stupid to know how to use a prepaid card that they have taken more than once before. Like wtf??!!! And calling this place is a nightmare as well. Just your average Walmart - nothing more, nothing less. The staff is helpful, that is, when you're able to find one available. It's never usually busy there so that might be the reason for the understaffing. Random but they didn't have cornstarch and the staff was just as confused about it as I was! 2017 Update: They had a recent re-grand opening and were giving out free hot dogs, cookies, coffee and drinks to the public. Smart branding and a great way to show appreciation to their customers. Nothing inside drastically changed but it was a really nice touch! read more

As a rule, I despise Walmart, and only shop here as a last resort. Thankfully there are none near Brookline/Boston. When I do come here, the stuff for sale is allright, although you do get what you pay for. The cashiers and the staff can be pretty hit or miss, but the most annoying thing is that everyone here moves like they are in slow motion. read more
