I was buying 2 ladies tops, when I picked them out they were on a rack that said 50% off. I know from time to time, things get moved around and end up on the wrong rack! However, it looked like all the summer tops were on sale. When I scanned it, it did not show any discount. After several minutes I was able to get the attention of one of the attendants. She looked at the tag and said, there is no yellow tag, so it's not on sale. I asked if it could have come off, and she said no, that's the price. RUDE!! As I was packing up my stuff, the gentleman beside me was also trying to get the attendants attention. He explained that the salad he was about to purchase appeared to be open. She told him to go and get another one. The guy was having a hard time, probably due to his age and mobility. I looked at him and said, really, they couldn't find one person to get that for you. He said, yes I have over $300. in groceries in my cart and that's how much I mean to them. Today Friday Aug 12th entered Walmart on Southland and was greeted by a cheery employee gentleman who offered me a shopping buggy that would not require a coin. The store looked bright and well stocked. I only went in for one product but decided to take a look around the produce that looked freshly stocked. I hadn't been in Walmart in a while and now i'm asking myself why not? Everything looked clean and fresh. After i made my way to the tills i noticed no cashiers other than the self serve so made my way into the coral and got lots of help from two ladies who i have to give "shout outs" to. Naz and Daryien who made my new adventure fun and even enjoyable. I don't mind running my items thru and packing myself seeing i'm not in a rush. No problemo with nice ladies like Naz ad Daryien. My first review in Canada and it's a Wal-Mart. There's just something weird about that, I guess. But since it's right across the street from both my hotel and my customer, I can see that I will be here a few times during my visit to Calgary. It's still a Wal-Mart but this one has a different feel from the ones I have patronized in the States. Shelves don't seem to be as tall and the food section (yes, this is a Supercentre so it has groceries) aisles aren't as long. They have all the other departments you would expect, including toys, electronics, clothing, tire & lube, etc. Staff is friendly and the signs are (of course) in both English and French. They've recently turned this location into a Supercentre so it's way better than it used to be. Before this latest changeover I don't think they had done anything to the store since they took it over from Woolco in the early 90's. The layout is still basically the same as before, just now there's fresh produce in the middle of the store right when you walk in. read more

I was looking for a headset for work and an employee in Electronics- it was an Indian gentlemen but I didn't get his name -recommended a pair that he said works well & it was a great price. THIS HEADSET WORKS SO WELL!! In addition, it is super light and comfy. I'm so glad this employee recommended this particular one to me. Kudos to the employee who 1) knew where everything was and pointed me in the right direction quickly and 2) had familiarity with what he was selling. It's nice to see an employee who takes pride in his work, despite the fact that he's probably just being paid minimum wage. So, yes, I am giving a Walmart 5 stars, but I will also give a disclaimer: I went shopping on a work day morning (kids in school, most people at work) so there weren't that many people in the store yet. On weekend, it may be a totally different experience and I would probably avoid the prime weekend shopping hours at a big Walmart store like this. read more

Right here we go, Wal-Mart, closest one to me and never go often except for Photo's (Kodak Booth), Work Boots and the reason I'm reviewing Winter Tyres (European Spelling, sorry old dog), I like to shop about which in the end drives me up the wall but these had by far the best deal on winter tyres, ok there not high end brand names but low cost winter tyres are far better than any high end M+S tyres. Service is not great and its first come first serve no appointments (unless your willing to wait weeks) expect line ups when first snow fall comes, BUT they have the best deals on winter tyres I have found, even if you line up and cant get a slot for fitting you can buy the tyres there and then and go back at a later date with receipt and get them fitted at cost. Thought I should get a tire quote at the Walmart across from Canadian Tire on Macleod Trail. Parking was a bit messy today, as Christmas shopping is well into its inertia. A woman formally greeted people at door and with me she greeted me in my native language which was surprising and a nice personal gesture. I got to the tire counter and there was no one around for 15 minutes, there was also a note on the door revealing that they were fully booked today for appointments and this was on a Sunday. A saleslady finally appeared out of nowhere and punched in my specs on the computer but didn't have enough expertise to fully find me the right tire. Although she was friendly and polite, it was very low service compared to the full service I received at Canadian Tire where the salesman there actually pointed out tires to me and gave me good recommendations. So counter service is definitely lacking here. I went away with a print out but I still didn't not know if the price she quoted me were the prices specific for my vehicle and usually she said there would be a two week waits for tires there as their stock is limited. I guess I could come back and check but why would I come back here in the future? When what I will expect is the same ambiguous answers about my vehicle; what a waste of time that would be. So I walked out of the store a little disappointed but at least I had an answer. While I was leaving, I noticed how disorganised Walmart was that day, I don't know if it is the fluorescent lighting or the lower ceilings with that tacky ceiling tile; but everything seemed a bit in disarray. Shopping at Coop or Costco or the Superstore just has a more spacious airy feeling. I suddenly felt claustrophobic and had to get out. The woman at the door was the only refreshing element at Walmart that day who bid me goodbye again in my native language. read more

When it comes to shopping there are 3 things: service, quality and price. The catch is you're lucky to only get 2/3 of these with any shopping experience, Walmart is no exception. The prime motivator for going to Walmart is generally always price, going in with expectations of exceptional service is just asking for disappointment. Quality here is reasonable enough, so there's your 2/3: price and quality. Leave your expectation at this and you should be okay! With the Walmart Macleod Supercentre I go in expecting to save money because of lower priced items that still meet the quality of a big name store, and this is exactly what I get. Walmart has all your major departments you'd expect from a department store: appliances, auto, baby, clothing, electronics & entertainment, furniture, health & beauty, home & pets, jewelry & accessories, office, outdoor, sports & rec and toys. What makes it a Supercentre location is the Grocery and Pharmacy, this location also includes a vision centre, photo centre, wireless solutions, McDonald's, Mr. Lube and Western Union. The primary reason I visit this location is for home and grocery, so I'm actually quite happy that this is a Supercentre location. The prices for the grocery items blow the competition nearby out of the water (Safeway and Co-op), but is still pretty comparable to Superstore. Their grocery selection is a little more limited to traditional items compared to a primary grocery store but it's not lousy by any means and they get some newer items as well. They're a little more limited for health food items, but they have some choices. Produce is actually quite decent here and priced great, as is their bread, dry goods and frozen items. Their meat is probably where they suffer the most, it's very reasonably priced but the quality of these items tends to be a little bit lower than other grocery stores. They also don't have a fresh deli, although their selection of deli items is quite large. So I usually stock up on all my major items on my visits and just grab my meats elsewhere. One thing I hate about this store is how narrow the aisles are. It's hard enough to get around with the crowd this store draws, but when you add in aisles that aren't wide enough for two carts it can be a tad bit annoying. Nothing they can really do to fix this either since the store layout is at capacity and the problem is likely just limited room more than poor organization. So often you'll find yourself barely squeezing by people or backing out of aisles, not an easy up and down aisle kind of store. While on this topic it's also very busy in general and the parking lot can be a nightmare, I'm surprised I haven't seen an accident here with how packed it gets. Close parking is also rarely an option. Even though the cashiers get backed up on a regular basis the staff does to a good job getting people through quickly, and they're actually trained pretty good for produce codes for a department/grocery store. There's also the express lane that works in a logistically efficient first in/first out method for small volume purchases. As mentioned earlier service is not something you generally get with your visits, the staff are rarely happy and almost never go above and beyond to make your visit exceptional. Most seem to be there as an ends to a means and don't take pride in their role. Don't expect to be approached for help either, if you need assistance you're probably going to have to ask. The electronics section can be an exception to this at times, I think the staff in this area are typically trained a bit better and have more invested interest in their department. The rest of the store is pretty neutral, but one plus is beyond the grocery area things quiet down a little and the shopping experience improves. Kind of ironic because the grocery store is my primary reason I come here but also the part I end up getting most frustrated with lol. To summarize: come to save some $, but don't expect too much more! read more

This Walmart doesn't seem to have alot of stock. Maybe because a bigger one exists kind of close by. They recently changed the makeup area. Not for the better. They made a very small opening that you have to try to find to get in and out. It is crowed in there. If it isn't other customers in the way, it is the staff. No room and if you are claustrophobic, don't go in there. Not sure why they did that. It feels like they don't want you to be in there. So I won't go. I looked through the cleaning area and was shocked that they didn't have much selection of cleaning brushes and no squirt bottles. First time ever that I didn't find anything on my list read more

I enjoy this store. It usually has my products I need in stock. December though has been a bad month. I get great service, okay quality as you get what your paying for, easy to return items at this location. I have had times where a manager seeing me in line will move me through a register at another section to help get me in and out quickly. The parking lot is full many times when I visit but the cars cycle in and out quickly. I will not buy makeup here, I prefer to get it from AVON and brand name products I get here usually at reduced prices, but 2 competitors are giving them a run for the money. read more

Do not go to this service center if you value your car or your privacy. Several months ago, I had them install new tires on my vehicle and was told that they warranty them. So, a few months later a take my car in to get a tire repair as well as an oil change. The guy at the counter was incredibly rude and told me he would "consider" honoring the warranty. Umm, consider? I told him that my car needed a thicker grade of oil because it burns through thin oil (As was recommended by my usual mechanic). When I came back, I was told that they stripped on a nut on the tire that was to be repaired and that I'd have to take it elsewhere to fix it. THEY screwed it up and I have to pay to repair it elsewhere? On top of that, they put in the same thin oil that I told them not to put it. Here's the kicker...... I get in my car and find that my cd's and paperwork from my middle console had been removed and placed on the passenger seat. Now I'm furious. I go in and I'm told that they were looking for the tire warranty. When I ask to speak with a manager, I'm told by the guy that HE IS THE MANAGER! I've never dealt with such an unprofessional group in my life. These guys should be shut down. read more

I have always been satisfied with Walmart service until today. The last time I was there I left my memory card at the photo centre. I called the 1-800 number and my call was answered by someone who doesn't understand and barely speaks English. It took me numerous times to explain to her why I was calling and even then she asked for my email address. This took another 4-5 minutes before (I think) she got my email address correct. I thought she needed my email to contact me later after she contacted the correct people about my memory card. Nope; she was looking for my account. Obviously she still didn't understand why I was calling. I told her I did't have an account at which time she put me on hold. When she came back on she said she asked a CO-WORKER and this other person said I would just have to take the pictures again. ARE YOU KIDDING !!!!!!!!!!! So much for vacation memories. I couldn't handle any more stupidity and hung up. Next I called the store myself and talked to the person at the photo centre. Without any hesitation I was told they didn't have it. Next I called the main no. and asked for lost and found. They asked me what it was I lost and I thought they put me on hold. After waiting about 10 minutes the photo centre answered which surprised me because I didn't know I was being transferred. In any case I explained AGAIN what it was I was calling about. This time I was put on hold while the employee checked the safe. This took a couple of minutes. Walmart needs to: A. Hire people who understand English B. Put processes in place that are adhered too. Worst management ever Walmart!!!! First time reviewer ! I felt like I needed to say something. After paying for our goods, my wife and I are walking out with our two young babies and bags in our hands, during our shopping my one year old kicked his shoes off, so my wife was carrying his shoes in one hand and holding hands with my three year old daughter .( who was wearing white new Ralph Lauren shoe's ) The employee at the door who thinks she is a detective, approached us and said "I've noticed your daughter has new shoes in! Did you check them in at the counter?" Shocked at how stupider that comment was, gave her 20 seconds to think about it and ask WHAt? She repeated it again, she looked very proud of herself ( Miami Csi style ) So I asked her do you carry these shoes at Walmart?? Waited a sec and pointed to my son shoe-less feet. She though my wife stole new shoes, made my daughter wear them and she was walking out with the old pair in her hands, Maybe not such a big deal but we felt dirty! And she embarrassed us. My complaint is not against her, she's not to be blamed, she should not be in that position !!!!!! Management at this Walmart need to get their s---- together .
