She popped the hood and found pieces of it in the engine compartment. Told me, her father, at 5:00pm on a Saturday what she heard and found. Together ! After yelping auto parts, called this store and spoke with Joseph, he put me on hold to see if he could find someone to do the repair.. said yes, and he had the part. When we got to AutoZone the repair guy said he was too busy. As we were getting the part, the store manager said it was on his way home and would do it for free. So there we were Jimmy and I working away, when a sudden rain storm comes flooding down on us, but we were finally successful in getting the stubborn idler replaced. BTW, Volkswagen didn't make the task very easy in the two hours it took. Yes in my shop or a service store it would have taken less time. We had neither. I could not have received better treatment, or caring by the staff and the manager as they went way above the call of duty, working on the car on the side of a residential neighborhood in the rain. My daughter, wife and I cannot thank them enough for helping us get her car back together last evening. He advised me it was the engine cradle, & it might take a few weeks to get done, as he needed to find the part. After 3 weeks, I called again. He was having trouble finding the part, and would have to fabricate it. I said I didn't mind waiting a few more weeks. The middle of June, hearing nothing, I called again. No return call. The last week of june, he finally called & said he broke his foot & it "was no excuse not to call you but I PROMISE it will be ready this Friday" well Friday came & went. No call. I waited an additional week. He didn't return my call. I left a message I was done and just wanted him to bring me my car for all the hassle, an 8 block drive. He didn't return any calls until I had to have my attorney call today. Never again. Stay away from him. Terrible service, terrible business.
