While en route to Cedar Point from Columbus with an SUV full of kids, I started to experience car trouble. My daughter googled auto repair shops near us as the handling of my SUV began to decline rapidly and I slowed down and drove with my hazards on. By the grace of God, we were only 5 minutes from Tom's Auto Repair! As I pulled into their parking lot, Daniel came out from the garage right away to make sure we were okay as he noticed the flashers on. I explained to him what I was experiencing and after emptying my vehicle of restless kids, the team had it up on a lift in no time and quickly diagnosed the issue(s). They said I was lucky that I stopped, as with the state of my wheel bearing and front bushing, we might not have even made it the next 30 minutes to the park. Daniel didn't have the specific part I needed, but called around to other local shops to see if anyone had it on hand. With none found nearby, he and Alexis helped me problem solve from that point on. I called AAA to tow my SUV to a repair shop back home, and Daniel was already on the phone with local taxi services to to help us a way to Cedar Point, without me even asking. Alexis then called Fleet One for a rental and a Ford Explorer was delivered to the auto shop in less than 15 minutes! The tow truck came quickly as well, and Daniel provided a written analysis of the issue and parts needed to pass along to my local shop. What's even more impressive, is that he refused to collect a dime for his and his team's time, diagnosis, and help. They even cleaned up a wound and provided a bandaid for one of my son's friends who was with us! I was in tears by the time I left, grateful for the good people that God placed us close to at a time of need. I highly recommend Tom's Auto Repair to anyone in the Norwalk area and will always be a fan! Thanks again for saving my son's 13th birthday and keeping us safe, Daniel & team. Was also an aircraft mechanic. So have been around. Getting old so can't crawl around under cars ant more so hire the work out these days. I don't personally know these people at all, but I have used them twice in the last year for big repairs, one on a 2009 Mercedes and another on a 2009 VW Touareg. THESE FOLKS ARE HONEST HONEST HONEST and COMPATENT and REASONABILITY PRICEd, also friendly. What more can I say except all that is hard to find in an auto shop these days. My 19 year old son spent 3 days outside in the cold trying to fix his own car. He's gifted in this…read moreway and has always loved cars. He has a strong work ethic and he wanted to do it himself. He was excited to take the challenge and learn along the way. The job reached a point where it required tools that we do not have. He knew he needed help so he called our local shop, S&S. We wanted to support an independent, small business in our town. The Owner showed up with a flatbed while my son was still bolting the wheel on. The Owner climbed under the front wheel without being asked, to bolt the tie rod back on. It seemed like good customer service at the time. He took the car and we waited for a call with an estimate. The call never came. The next day they called my son to tell him his car was done, and handed him a bill for $646.10. The Owner charged my son $175 to tow his car 2 blocks to his own shop where they did the work without first discussing with my son what it would cost. My son bought all the parts, they were in the car. My son did 90% of the tear down, with the right tools, which I assume they have, it would have been a 2 hour task at most to install the new axle in and put it all back together. They charged $100 hr, and insisted it took them 4 hours. When I questioned the desk attendant, he told us the owner told him he had to crawl under my son's car and do all kinds of work just to get it on the tow truck. He tightened a bolt. It was 2 minutes of his time, and no one asked him to do it. This is about character. If they're willing to take advantage of a 19 year old young man, how do you think they will treat you, your son, your daughter or your wife?

A big thanks to Bob for helping us out when we were stranded. While driving on the turnpike, our…read morevan started shaking and the check engine light started blinking along with warning dinging. Needless to say we were in a bit of a panic since there are no service stations anymore. We Yelped for "auto repair" and found several near our exit in Fremont. The first place we stopped (with a 4+ star Yelp rating) was stuffed with cars under repair and no one even acknowledged our presence when we stepped up the counter. We left there and went to Ash which was just down the street. As soon as I went in Bob dropped what he was doing to wait on me. Once I explained our situation, he grabbed his computer and hopped in our car to check out the problem. It was apparent that the issue was a failed fuel injector. He said he'd get right on it and even loaned us a car to go to breakfast. After we returned it took only about 10 minutes more and we were ready to go. What seemed like a disaster just turned into a 2 hour delay (well, we did have a great breakfast!). Thanks to Bob we were able to get back to Michigan pretty much on schedule. After getting it back, my car started making a horrible squeaking noise. I kept bringing it back to get it fixed and now it's 4 months later and it's still it fixed. Clearly, the mechanics have no clue what they're doing. I had to take my car to a different shop to get everything fixed properly. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place at all costs!
