This was a well-maintained, used vehicle with a clean Carfax report, and all the maintenance records clearly showed that it had been serviced regularly. We were thrilled to bring this car into our family. Fast forward just eight months, and the engine fails completely. The car has only been with us for a short time, and already we're being told it needs a full engine replacement--a massive and unexpected cost. We followed the recommendation to have a PA request for goodwill assistance submitted by the dealership, hoping that Hyundai would step in to help us get back on the road, given the circumstances. However, we were recently denied assistance with the explanation that we're the second owner of the vehicle. Now, here's why that doesn't make sense: 1. We Purchased This Vehicle from a Hyundai Dealership. It wasn't from some random, unverified source; we bought this car from a trusted Hyundai dealer in Kennesaw. Both the first owner and we, the second owners, have kept the vehicle within the Hyundai family. There's a clear paper trail of care and ownership. 2. Consistent Maintenance. The Carfax shows a history of routine maintenance by both the first owner and us. This isn't a case of neglect--it's a case of a well-maintained car experiencing a major failure way earlier than expected. 3. Only Seven Years Old. This car is just seven years old. With the reputation Hyundai has for reliability, shouldn't a vehicle that has been properly maintained last longer than this? To be told that engine failure is not something Hyundai can help us with because we're the second owner is beyond frustrating, especially since we trusted Hyundai to stand by their vehicles no matter how many hands they pass through. 4. Loyal Hyundai Customers. We love our Santa Fe, and we've done everything right as owners. But now we're being denied help for a problem that shouldn't be happening in the first place. A complete engine failure this early? After just eight months of ownership? This isn't the experience we expected when we put our trust in Hyundai. We hope Hyundai takes a second look at this case, because the denial feels unfair given the facts. I asked if there was any reduced rate since only toe could be adjusted, but was told the price is flat rate and could not be changed. The employees were polite, so this review is not about customer service. My problem is paying full alignment price for partial service. In situations like this, I'd rather go to a local independent shop that is more flexible and experienced with older vehicles. I won't be returning, and I'd recommend asking exactly what can be adjusted before agreeing to the service.
