I've been going to this doctor for almost 9 years! He use to deliver babies but not anymore. He know just focuses on the wellness of women. You need an appointment and he doesn't have you waiting all day. His office staff is amazing and they take the time to get to know you as a person and not just a number. When I was in Desoto, Tx, I saw Dr Wallner. I stopped going to Dr Wallner because he would never have a nurse or another female in the room while doing the exam. This is ILLEGAL! No matter how I complained about it, I was ignored. Well, good bye you sorry excuse for a doctor. I found another doctor who knows how to act and this doctor will not start the exam without a female present. And another thing about Dr Walner, I always got the impression that he doesn't like overweight females. Every time I saw him, he would recommend gastric bypass surgery. NO WAY. I have a pcp doctor who helps me out. The obgyn I have now doesn't do that. He wants my pcp doctor to consult me on that. read more

Dr. Richard Wallner has been my gynecologist for two years now. [[Just as a point of reference: I am an older female, I have children and also very young grandchildren; I have used four different gynecologists in 30 years of living in the SW Dallas area; Dr. Wallner is my current physician.]] Several things to note: 1) Dr. Wallner's office staff is amazing. It is a small office, he is the only gyno and Dr. there, so his patients are the staffs' first and only priority. They return phone calls in a timely manner, and they work to schedule you with a sense of urgency, on the rare occasions that you might have a issue that requires prompt attention. Very very helpful. And they also get the medical coding correct first time around (meaning no "back and forth" issues with your insurance company, which is wonderful!) 2)After you check in, and are called back, it is actually Dr. Wallner's nurse that weighs you and then takes your vital signs, asks for history updates, etc. and then takes you to the exam room. She is also amazing- VERY personable as well as professional. 3) I always go by myself, so I can't speak to Dr. Wallner's interactions with husbands, boyfriends, sisters, aunts, mothers, sons or daughters. But in two years' time and approximately half a dozen visits, including two yearly gynecological check-ups, I have always found Dr. Wallner to be knowledgeable, concerned, empathetic, and professional. We have great communication, I believe, because I am open, honest and a "bottom line"type person, as is he. I do not "dance around" with what I need to share with him, so that he may treat me in a fully informed fashion. And if and when he tells me that such and so actions are necessary, I listen to him, and take his professional advice to heart. I do not ask or require him to treat me in a delicate manner, I expect him just to treat me professionally and with concern, and to provide information to me. (Though sometimes there IS an exchange of warm and appropriate humor between us, which I consider to be a bonus. ) 4) I feel very comfortable that Dr. Wallner would not only understand, but that he would be cooperative, rather than defensive, if I ever felt the need to seek a second opinion. 5) I have confidence that Dr. Wallner would make referrals to other specialists, if he thought those doctors could/would impact my health and well being. I had been going to dr. wallner a couple years. I started having issues and when i tried to talk to him about it he would always tell me it was normal. I always felt like he was rushing me out and didnt want to talk or explain anything to me. I always left feeling misunderstood and upset. I never felt like he really cared. I really felt like something was wrong so i went somewhere else a couple weeks after i visited dr. wallner and found that i had a 3cm cyst on my ovary that was causing quite some pain and also that i have a condition called PCOS. I would give less if possible DO NOT GO HERE. I had been here in the past as in eleven years ago and it was fine he referred me out. I went here this time for problems with my endometriosis and the possibility of a hysterectomy. He did recommend one and at 30 I was fine with that (this was 2016) his secretary or assistant she walks people back and takes weights didn't love it and made that clear on my next three visits. I always had a friend or my husband with me at my visits and he made the surgery seem as if it was not a big deal. I do have panic attacks which I did make him aware of in advance. The day before my surgery he asked me if I was medically stable and I said yes bc I was. The morning of my surgery I was fine. I woke up after sugery in the absolute worst pain and cried a lot I was asking for pain relief it was the worst pain I'd ever been in or could imagine it felt like someone had just reached inside my vagina and ripped everything out by hand not a little surgery like he had said. He popped over from his office across the street and I was crying he said "I thought you said you were mentally stable" okay this made me have a panic attack for sure and I couldn't do anything about it. I felt so betrayed that he used my mental health history against me and not even in a correct way. I needed up having to stay the night. I went home in pain and wasn't able to do much around the house also I was having severe hot flashes to where my entire family and anyone who visited wore big jackets and I wore tanks tops and little shorts. It didn't bother me but it was bothering my family. I was just surprised at the pain I was in and how long the recovery was bc that's not how he explained it would be and I have two witnesses who were there to explain what I'm saying is right. So I go in for my check up with my husband and my husband wants to go back with me bc he doesn't think I'm going to make a big enough deal about the extreme hot flashes where sweats pouring off my body even in the waiting room and I agree he can go back with me. When I'm called back I think her name is Jan(?) the secretary or assistant that didn't want me to have the surgery -asked me how I was doing while I sat in a chair (the doctor is at the end of the hall passing into another patients room) I explain " I'm so sorry to be a cry baby but I didn't expect it to hurt so much or to still be recovering or it take this long" she says sweetheart you just had a major surgery what did you expect (she wasn't being rude) she then asked what my pain level was and I told her what it was. She walked me into a room the doctor walked right in and the first thing he said was " your pain is not a (insert what number I said) it's a two" Say what now I was already going to tell him what he did at the hospital was out of line but that was out now & it just got worse I moved forward I explained the hot flashes and he said my ovaries weren't working and I showed him you could literally wring sweat off my shirt I wearing and he didn't care so much husband asked at what point should we be concerned my ovaries aren't working? The doctor got very angry and said looking at my husband while grabbing some hormones he slammed them in my husbands hands opened a package and then said in the most douche patronizing voice (never looking at me just at my husband) as he grabbed my wrist and poured and it told me to rub it in and said in that horrid voice to my husband "since you're so concerned I guess now" and walked out. That was the last time I went I was suppose to go back but I went to my regular OB in Fort Worth who I should have had the surgery with for my next check ups and explained what had happened and he said (not dr.wallner but my amazing doctor) that Dr.Wallner was out of line and even women with out a history of panic attacks have been known to have them after a hysterectomy bc the pain is crazy and it is a major surgery and a big deal and he should have explained all of that. It wasn't me who just had a awful experience here so did my friend at the exact same time. We had appointments the same days we had our paps the same day and our recheck for our result and what we wanted to do the same day and he was very odd and not at all professional with her she wanted an IUD and he recommend ablation for her and she wanted to discuss it with her husband bc it's very final unlike an IUD. Together (her hubs and her) they decided not to do the ablation and when she told dr.wallner that he totally went off and told her "he doesn't think men should have a say in women's health his sister was in school to be a nurse and was very smart until she just married a man with children and now she's just a wife a mom happily sitting under an apple tree" that's very odd and kinda insane why did he mention his sister.
