She was so pleasant and professional. Wish I would have got her name. We found our selves in a 4th floor room at the end of the hall with great pillows and a comfortable king sized bed. I slept so well. The air conditioning allowed for a cool room and a nice hum to drown out my husband's snoring. The shade kept it so dark. Did I mention I slept so well?! Breakfast was great. Scrambled eggs were fresh and hot. Oatmeal had fresh toppings. I even liked that they had an open milk container so I didn't have to open one of those cardboard milk cartons for my oatmeal then throw out 3/4 of it. Cudos to the breakfast manager. Great stop!

Look. This is not a great hotel. If you are looking for luxury and posh, this isn't that. However…read more It has all the parts a hotel needs...sort of. There are 2 beds in the room, a phone, a shower, toilet, sink, fridge, AC, TV. All of them in solid working order. There is not a microwave or coffee maker in the room. There is No pool. There is a washer and dryer by the front desk and if you ask nice, the desk lady might call your room when your load needs moving. The "breakfast" consists of toast, juice, and coffee. Recommend bringing your own. There is a microwave in the breakfast area and there are vending machines near the front desk although we didn't explore those options. There is a breakfast place in town, but it's closed on holidays. The grounds were pretty. There's a grassy area in the back that was well maintained. There's some really fun art and decorations inside and out. Very home town. They offered daily housekeeping, but we seemed to be in the room every time they came by (very early! 8:30am!) so we didn't actually get service during our 5 night stay...but that's our fault not theirs. And it didn't really matter to us. The staff is so kind. They have a candy dish up from which they encouraged our kids to take from every day. The ladies talked with our kiddos every time we walked by. So nice and helpful. If you go into this hotel with managed expectations (it's a 1 star level) then you will feel it's fine. I felt safe and clean enough. It's not perfect and needs a facelift for sure- it hasn't been updated since it was a super 8 (the phones are proof!), but it was fine for us when we visited for a class reunion and if you are there for hunting or work, it'll do.

I didn't hear any noise outside of our room so that was perfect. it's dog friendly, and everybody loved our sweet puppy that's 10 months old but it's a big puppy. We have a great Dane . I wasn't hungry when we got up Saturday morning, but my husband of course was he said the breakfast was the best. Everything was very tasty. We have no complaints. Definitely will be back. My husband accidentally left his medication there we worked with David and also the front desk and they're going to UPS his medication to where we are since we're traveling for a few weeks.. I have been driving all day... needed a place to crash for the night…read more Usually have good luck at La Quinta... so went there. Everything was fine... until I went into the bathroom in my room. There were dozens of little black flies flying around, mostly around the toilet. I suspect someone has not been cleaning up under the rim of the toilets... as these look like those types of flies. I killed about a dozen of them but could not get them all. Front desk was like... "we will let maintenance know in the morning"! That does not help me tonight... NOT RECOMMENDED! was going to attach a video of the bugs... but it is too small, according to google. I did get some bad photos... bug is small... phone wont focus. Even on my Toothbrush! Yuck!

Once upon a time I was in graduate school and doing a lot of work out in western Nebraska -- Imperial especially. On my first trip out, following the habits of my research group, I went to make a reservation at the motel in town, which was full and whose staff recommended I check the Balcony House. I am eternally grateful. My entire research group's enthusiasm for traveling to Imperial improved after this event. Jim and Linda are fantastic hosts. Their home is unbelievably charming and well cared for. I've stayed with them probably a half-dozen or more times (I think I've slept in every room), and each time I am in awe of their business. Fresh coffee and cookies, always. Linda is the most exceptional cook, whose meals make my mouth water thinking of them now. One time I was there, Linda had injured wrists, and Jim was in charge of breakfasts. Those were outstanding too -- though he quickly admitted that if you stayed longer than three days, you'd start getting repeats. There was one time that I was coming to Imperial and they were FULL (stupid hunting season!). I had to stay at that motel after all, even after vowing I never would. You know what Jim and Linda said? They told me to COME OVER FOR BREAKFAST anyway, even though I would be staying at the motel. They are the salt of the earth. I am so very fortunate to have gotten to know them over the years. p.s. If you're in town for a lunch, I *love* M&M's Natural Jazz. The Reubens (regular and turkey) are spectacular. If you're gluten-free, they got you covered. Imperial is a special place. I wish I still had excuses to visit regularly.

Once you get into the parking lot, you're under the sign and it's hard to verify that you're at the Best Western rather than at the Comfort Inn or whatever else is in the row of businesses. Kleenex and hand soap hadn't been replenished, so I had to ask for them. Lighting is good for hotels in this area, though if you'll be reading, you might want to bring your own lamp or a brighter bulb. There is a small table with can be moved. This should be mandatory for every hotel. Shampoo is hardly natural, but it doesn't contain the harsh, dermatitis-inducing SLS or SLES you find in most hotel shampoos. The bedspreads are washable. Less chance of cuddling up under someone else's crud. Electric outlets exist right where I need them. The shower head is high--great for taller people, but anyone under 5'5" will have a hard time adjusting the spray pattern on the shower head. Other lodging options: Husker Inn downtown is old and tiny, but amazingly friendly and always affordable. Some of the big-name hotels on the north side of I80 are filthy, so read the reviews carefully.
