They pretty much have it all. A lot of exercise classes with patient, helpful, friendly instructors. Very large room with every type of machine. Handball courts. Lap pool plus two warm water pools. I feel bad giving only two stars as some of the staff here is very friendly, however my overall experience here has been underwhelming. The YMCA is one of the only gyms in town, so most people work out there. They seem to charge A LOT for what you're getting, but they can get away with it since there aren't any other viable options. I was charged $25 for 5 days into the next month before I moved and they wouldn't just let me use the facility for those few days. I was originally charge $15/month with my student discount, so that was inconsistent. I got the deluxe membership with the steam room, locker, etc. It was nice, but the women's locker room is very rudimentary and dismal in appearance for what you're paying. While I had the deluxe membership, a staff member confronted me asking if I was paying for it and it felt like he was accusing me of sneaking in there which left a bad taste in my mouth. The worst part is the hours. This place is only open during the day, very limited weekend hours, closed Sunday's and holiday and closes pretty early in the evening. I think the YMCA is nice for older adults who are retired, but if you're busy and trying to lift in a nice facility with new equipment, try to find a better option....which will be hard in Walla Walla. read more

Not geared toward people with traditional work schedules and kind of difficult to navigate as a family. We found the aquatics program for kids pretty mediocre -- there is way more demand than there are organization/ease of access and excellent teachers. However, the staff are usually kind and the facilities are adequate. And this is about all we've got in the way of community fitness here in town. read more

Great place to workout and socialize with people who have similar common interests in fitness, health, nutrition, extc. The staff are very friendly and will be very supportive if you have any questions/concerns. They have a pretty tight-nit community working there so it definitely Makes the atmosphere lighter. The steam room is relatively clean and the staff does a really good job of wiping down used machines, appropriating the mask mandate, and regulating its Covid guidelines among the gym environment. I do have to say, the gym can get quite packed during afternoon/night time after so if your more of an individualist when it comes to working out, I recommend going in the mornings. Before Covid, the gym used to be a lot more energetic and lively. It does feel it's become less enjoyable and my motivation to workout has certainly diminished. This doesn't mean it their fault, could just be due to Covid and it's regulations. But I would appreciate if they re-vamped it's workout facilities. Either with new equipment or remodeling the exterior/interior to make it more exiting and vibrant. Kinda just feels like your standard run of the mill gym. In and out. That's it. But it still holds its reputation by making itself available during Covid and allowing some wiggle room in the gym. Thank you Y for always being there when I need to workout ! read more

If you or your kids expect to play some basketball, good luck! It would nice to see at least 1 court open all day everyday for you or kids to play some ball. Too much classes packed in to a facility with limited space. It's becoming a little ridiculous. Karate classes have now moved from the Harmony room occupying one of the gyms at busiest time of the evening taking space away from kids who want to play ball. Not only is the gym way too big for this smaller class, which takes up unnecessary space but it's also distracting for the instructor and kids trying to learn. The harmony room was a perfect location for the karate class. Instead, the Y takes on an entirely new class which they clearly don't have room for, leaving the existing class (karate) and paying members completely unsatisfied. For the price we have to pay as members, it's becoming to the point where it's not worth it! read more

My child attends the after school program at the YMCA of Walla Walla and has made great friends. She loves the staff and the activities that are offered daily. She gets outside and completes her homework daily. The cost of care is reasonable and the quality is awesome. I feel safe because it is a licensed Learning Center and follows licensing guidelines. read more

My family and I have always been huge supporters of the YMCA system and I have belonged to my home YMCA for 20 years (essentially grew up there too!) and have visited many many others. The facilities are definitely not excellent, but they work and if you are desperate to work out the YMCA is definitely a place that you can go. I am writing to complain about customer service. Millie, the woman who mans the front desk in the early mornings is unfriendly, patronizing, and just plain mean. I cannot believe that any employer would allow her to work with customer service. Every single time I have tried to work out before work my day has been ruined by her attitude. If the YMCA continues to let her work with customers I will be cancelling my membership, as I will not be treated that rudely by anyone. read more

The Y is one of the best things about Walla Walla. The people are nice, it's open a lot, and their fitness classes are great. read more

If I could give this place NO stars I would. I gave the Walla Walla Y two months of prime gym time--January and February. I was determined to get to the gym and workout as much as possible--waking up at 5:30 to make it to their 6am classes, head there during lunch and after work. Alas, this gym is a piece of crap. Their classes absolutely blow--the instructors appear barely qualified, and even if they could teach a good class, they completely lack equipment. My husband and I paid $120 a month ($$!!) for a gym that has about 3 machines with tv's attached (otherwise you have to watch HSN or CSPAN with your WALKMAN tuned to 98.2 from the huge, shitty old non-hd tv's hanging precariously above the row machines). The stability ball class--you have to bring your own ball! WTF? Also--there's a waiting list to use the women's locker room!? A WAITING LIST, after which you have to PAY EXTRA to use it!! WTFF? This place is also lousy with poorly behaved children--and it smells constantly of dirty diapers. It's also extremely crowded--the waits for machines are always long. I came from a gym in Chicago (you'd think prices there would be astronomical, right?) where we paid $100 a month, got to use a beautiful, clean and state of the art gym, where locker rental and towels (and any equipment needed for classes) was included (instead of tacked onto the price), where instructors knew their shit, and where I didn't constantly feel the need to cover my nose from the stink of dirty diapers. I would rather do P90X in my cramped living room than go back to this place. I cancelled my membership today. $120/month for: old machines with no tvs bad classes that lack equipment waiting list for lockers, which you pay extra for extremely crowded full of poorly contained kids dirty (did I mention they don't have wipes for the machines?? This is a great club to belong to as it has everything anyone would need to get and stay fit. Lots of programs that are well manage. A wonderful pool and hot pools for exercise and therapy. Super good value. read more

Great gym to belong to. I used to belong to one of the most expensive gym in San Francisco and had to wait for machines, sign up for fitness classes because there is a limit to number of people for each class pick up place. At the Y here in I never have to wait if or machines, although the machines are close together, there great machines and clean. They have lots of classes and the rooms are huge. Programs for all ages are available. Staff are friendly. It us one if Walla Walla treasure. read more
