I use Yelp reviews quite a bit when I'm looking for a business recommendation. I was very wary of the Yelp review I saw on this business despite how bizarre it sounded. My husband and I searched for storage this summer 2016 while selling our house and found literally no security besides this company so we took a chance. The manager was one of the sweetest I've ever met as far as customer service goes. Our experience was 100% different than the Yelp review found, so I wanted to take the time to leave our review. While speaking with the manager on the phone, she mentioned she has four individual locations she switches between each day so she would need me to reach her via phone to make an appointment. She mentioned the business phone number redirects to her cell phone since they don't occupy one office as I expected. During our appointment, she was very detailed with all the rules and regulations, showed us the gate code (which worked) and we locked the unit so we knew our keys worked and before leaving she mentioned again to call if we needed anything. She used our appointment as example of how she doesn't answer during appointments and will return their calls in between appointments instead. We've since then rented again and were taken to a different location of theirs. We had the same experience and despite her remembering us she reminded us of how to reach her. I'm not sure if the "other location" mentioned in that review was the same as ours, but this location has never had gates wide open and security is great. Based on my experience, it doesn't seem possible for it to have gone as badly as the last review did. We've been a return customer once already and will continue to be as we need to. read more

This business is so badly managed. First, there is rarely anyone on site, and an appointment must be made to arrange to reserve a unit. When we did that, we ended up waiting over an hour for the manager to finally show up for the appointment she'd made. We paid for several months in advance, and left my daughter's dorm room things in the unit over the summer. When we returned to pick them up, however, the gate code we were given did not work. Multiple calls to the one and only phone number went unanswered. It appeared to be a personal cell phone, not a business answering service. We had only a small window of time before we had to get the things and leave Walla Walla, so we finally drove to their other facility hoping the manager would be there. Once we reached the other place, its gates were wide open, making access easy, but security poor. Still, no one was there, so we tried several more calls, but couldn't reach her. Finally, my partner went to the unit and waited, hoping someone would come along and he could get through the gate. That did work, but it turned out the unit number they put on our contract was wrong and the key they gave us did not work. Unfortunately, my partner found himself locked inside of the facility, in 90 degree heat, and could not get out. The manager didn't return our calls until I left a message indicating I would have to call the police to get him out. Then she miraculously materialized. We ended up having to spend half the day trying to get my daughter's stuff, all because they could not provide an alternative phone number, could not provide an accurate code, could not provide an accurate unit number, and could not provide a proper key to fit the lock they gave us. She never apologized, and instead bad-mouthed me to my partner. Rarely do I think people should be fired, but in this case, the management should replace the incompetent manager and run the place appropriately. Until then, anyone looking for storage in Walla Walla should avoid Mill Creek Self Storage at all costs. read more
