I'd been abused, and later, after finally finding a safe home, someone broke in... and I was beaten again. I don't trust easily. I bark when I feel unsafe. I protect my space fiercely. I need distance from other dogs--not because I don't care, but because I care too deeply and don't know how to show it safely. But my human understood. They walk me on a 6' lead, often shortened to 2'. They sit on the ground beside me when I'm overwhelmed. They give me time, space, and safety to choose connection. That's how I learned how to say: "If I turn sideways and offer my shoulders or my butt... you can touch me." It's not much, but it's my way of saying "I trust you." And Justine listened. On October 4, 2023, Justine became my personal walker once a week. My human told her the truth--every challenge, every warning. She had every reason to walk away. But she didn't. She stayed. She followed my signals. She gave me 15 minutes. Now we do 30-minute walks once a week. She must really love me. Then, on January 2, 2024, I met Laura--and fate stepped in again. I didn't know she worked with Justine. Now I have two amazing humans who take me out twice a week. They get me. They give me time. And I give them my trust. To the anxious pups, the misunderstood cats, the shy reptiles, the quiet rodents hiding under blankets: You are NOT broken You are NOT too much You just need the right people who will wait for you to feel safe I'm Yogi. 1 Star - Compassionless clinic with zero respect for pet owners under stress…read more I brought my senior cat, Bambi, to Beattie Pet Hospital in Ancaster when she was unwell. After running tests, Dr. Davis diagnosed her with low potassium and diabetes, but instead of offering a realistic, supportive care path, I was quoted an astronomical $7,000 to $10,000 for emergency ICU hospitalization. When I chose to manage her supportively at home under palliative care, Dr. Davis and the clinic staff showed zero empathy or practical guidance. They could have simply instructed me to give her a veterinary potassium supplement, transition her diet to high-protein low-carbohydrate wet pâté, and give her plain chicken broth daily for hydration like I am doing now. Instead, with Bambi right there with me as they were about to close at 9:00 PM, they aggressively pressured me on the spot to put her down. They said, "Don't worry about our time. We don't have to close right at 9:00. We could still wait and do it right there. Call your wife, let her come by and meet us there." When I refused and said I was taking her home, they pressured me into booking an appointment early the very next morning to put her down--an appointment I thankfully called and canceled. When I brought her home, Dr. Davis and Beattie Pet Hospital repeatedly harassed me with phone calls and even reported me to Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) simply because I chose home palliative care over their demands. The reality of home care: * I managed her care at home myself by putting her on a high-protein, low-carbohydrate wet pâté diet, supplementing her potassium with Vetoquinol Renal K+, and keeping her hydrated with plain chicken broth and water. * Despite Dr. Davis's alarmism and extreme pressure to put her to sleep immediately, Bambi stabilized completely under my care. She is eating on her own, drinking independently, purring, rubbing against my legs, and using the litter box normally. * When Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) spoke with me following the clinic's report, the welfare officer listened to my actual home-care routine, recognized that I was knowledgeable and actively caring for Bambi, and closed the case immediately without even needing to inspect my home. Dr. Davis and Beattie Pet Hospital in Ancaster care far more about controlling pet owners than actually supporting animals. Pushing to immediately euthanize a pet when basic home care, proper diet, broth, and potassium supplements can restore a comfortable quality of life is shameful. Save yourself the heartbreak and find a clinic that actually leads with compassion.

In the two days prior he was less perky and we hoped this was temporary (good days and bad days), but within 24 hours CatNap contacted us to advise of decline. They took our baby to the vet and we very sadly agreed it was time to relieve suffering. Obviously not being there in last moments was absolutely devastating & heartbreaking for us. When we returned and came in to settle bill, they waived everything. This was so unexpected and touching. Gestures like this are so so rare these days. I'm tearing up writing this. THANK YOU AND MUCH LOVE TO THE STAFF, WE WILL NOT FORGET XO

CatNap cottages took excellent care of our 2 cats for a week over the holidays. The cats were…read morehoused in a little "cottage" with a ledge and a window facing outside, and we brought their bed which went inside. The litter box was far enough away from their bed and food dishes and the cottage was clean. You could tell the employees really love cats and they took time to play with the animals according to the instructions they meticulously recorded when we made our arrangements to leave them. Both cats were well groomed (i.e they had been brushed) and were just lazing about in their cottage when we came (a little early) to get them. None of the cats in the place seemed overly stressed. There was also a larger play area where they let the cats out to play - but not with other cats. Overall I was really at peace with leaving my pets in the care of the staff at CatNap. I called a few times while I was gone and they patiently answered all my questions and even went to look to see what teh cats were doing while I was on the phone. They kept great notes on their activities (eating/drinking/litter box business). Price was $14.99 per cat, per night, so it wasn't cheap, but at least we were able to relax on our holiday, knowing they were taken care of so well.
