This is another "hidden gem" of an attraction. We went to Newark specifically to visti the…read moreNational Heisey Glass Museum but it was much much more than we expected. This is an amazing look at the history of glass and the incredible run of the Heisey Glass Company. The collections are organized into various eras - clearly labled - that show the development of Heisey Glass over the years. Other collections are based on the type of glass - i.e. the introduction of different colors and styles. There are also exhibits illustrating Heisey's "animal glass". The staff is not only VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE but also EXTREMELY PRSONALBE and VERY WILLING (EAGER) to talk about the collections. There is a very informative (approximatley 20 minute) video that you shouldn't miss. Having spent 4 summers working in a glass plant while working my work through college, seeing and hearing the stories behind the Heisey glass was especailly fasicnating. The gift shop is loaded with pieces of "original Heisey glass" for sale at very resonable prices.

An amazing museum. I'm not into glass, but can appreciate the art and craft, well displayed here…read more Lots of different types of glass, from various eras, perfectly preserved and shown in well lit cases. Some knockoffs and more recent production, especially in the basement under the historic house. Another basement room is for meetings but also has artifacts from the factory and explains the glassmaking process. Staff are friendly and helpful. There's a gift shop with actual Heisey glass for sale, plus souvenirs and books. Parking out front, with this in the middle of the museum complex and park. Well worth a visit for anyone interested in local history, industry, art, and decor.

Capital City Tours, our city's only formal tour company, offers a handful of specialized overviews…read moreof the city: it's churches, gardens, public art- and even tea-houses. A few times a year, they organize special holiday, reunion and couples or women's tours. If you (or your company) is interested an in-depth driving tour of the city, or perhaps want to organize a custom tour, contact Jean, the owner. She has conducted step-on bus/ coach/ van tours of the city for the past ten years. I can recommend her personally for her knowledge of the city and engaging personality.

Having only visited here a handful of times, I considered myself pretty clueless about Columbus so I googled city tours and found Capital City Tours. I was interested in the City Overview Tour. So, I emailed the owner, Jean, and she was very prompt in getting back to me with available times, which, fortunately, fit our schedule. My in-laws live in a suburb of Columbus, so they joined my husband and me for the tour. Jean was very sweet, especially with making some special accommodations for my semi-handicapped father-in-law. Anyway, if you're looking to move here - or have lived here all your life, even - this tour is a must-see. Jean has been here 50 years and knows SOOOO much about the history of the city and its various eclectic neighborhoods! And, she's very witty, and had us laughing a good bit. An excellent time was had by all! The tour costs $25 per person, which was more than fair, I think. Her van was impeccably clean and she even used a little microphone while speaking during the tour. At first I thought the microphone might be overkill, but I'm glad she used it because my husband, who sat in the back, could hear her very well. The tour lasted a little over 2 hours. I was so happy I found Jean. I got to see parts of the city I may not have been ready to explore on my own, including Victorian Village, German Village, downtown, Franklintown, OSU's campus, and several others. She has experienced a lot and READ a lot in her 50 years here. It makes me want to learn even more about this great city I will soon call home. And it makes me want to get here all the quicker! I highly recommend this tour. My father-in-law even loved it, and he's hard to please. :)

The guides were Ian and Kyle, they are super smart and helpful. Their patience is what we needed and received. At our age, safety is a big concern. These folks ensure it and restored our confidence. Not an easy task. We are talking seriously of coming back and doing the X tour. We now have another destination for next year. I know it shouldn't be said, so I left it for last. I truly believe Yelp's silly ass policy of no selfies should be changed. We have dozens of photos of the three of us having a blast that would benefit this business and the people reading this experience. 04/25

My tour guides, Mel and Olivia were hilarious, friendly, and made the whole experience enjoyable. With this tour being about 3 hours long, I feel like it is worth the money. They do also offer slightly cheaper rates on weekdays and discounted rates for children 10-15 years old. Beautiful views of the trees and Hocking River. Definitely would recommend this experience if you're visiting the area!
