We arrived at 3 PM and were #5 in the queue but when the doc focused on our pet, she did a thorough evaluation and performed X-rays, ultrasound and blood work. We picked our burner up 7 hours later.You pay a premium for their services but after a couple of days, our burner is responding nicely and is nearly herself again. I recommend their services in a crisis situation but be prepared to pay a premium.

Heartbroken, I made the agonizing choice to let her go.As the vet was actively injecting the medication to stop my baby's heart, the atmosphere became tense, and I quietly commented to the vet that she had no compassion. She snapped back, stating: "I don't have compassion for people who bring their animals in in this condition."I was stunned, heartbroken, and completely traumatized. I called Peek A Boo Kennels and made an appointment. The owners were very gracious and knowledgeable, and had just the puppy I was looking for, a miniature poodle. All of their puppies were healthy and clean, and their kennel was very clean. While I waited for my puppy to be old enough to leave the kennel, I visited her every week, and the owners started calling her the name I picked out, so that she would know her name. The owners sent home a bag of "goodies" so that my puppy would feel at home in her new home. Buying my little girl at Peek A Boo Kennel was a wonderful experience from start to finish.

Lounge in the sun or in a string of clear ponds. Make a fire, use one of the many grills, go for a hike on nearby trails, or just read a book in the shade. Catch the sunset from the top of the hill, and watch the stars come out in a night sky free from light pollution. I drove 2hrs to get to Willoughby Rescue, and I'd do it again without question. Three things to note as they will make your stay more enjoyable: - Bring close-toed shoes if you're going to walk around the property - Bring some bug spray for the evening - Bring TP with you to the outhouse And finally, my only caveat - it's nothing to do with Willoughby - is don't let google maps convince you to drive there via Tebbetts Notch Rd! If you're approaching from the west on Rte 25, I'd advise you to stay on it through Bradford Center and then turn south on Rowell Brook Rd (.25mi west of I-91). Tebbetts is basically a logging road, and you'll need 4WD and plenty of ground clearance to get through.

This property might be…read moreacceptable for the very young and spry, but make no mistake--it is NOT "ADA accessible!"--not in any way. If you cannot get to a toilet, it's not ADA accessible. Yes, we should've realized our own limitations, but that's why we paid a one-night visit a couple weeks ago, to vet the claims. I wanted to book it for a group camping trip for a bunch of ladies, 40s on up, but it's not "nice enough." Animal droppings are left where they fall, no paths mowed for the paying guests, outdoor furniture is brittle and tearing, and that outhouse situation is ridiculous. Is that ladder over the fence even legal?? And frankly, we expected more than 9 animals and some chickens for what he's charging per person and nickle-and-diming (he charges extra for EVERYthing: a container to carry water, a wheelbarrow to haul your own gear to your site; etc.). But we did fall in love with the two donkeys. We stayed one night in his camper trailer. It wasn't clean enough, the fridge was full of food, toiletry kit in the bathroom, clothing in cabinets and closet, a bag of stuff in the shower, and he left a laundry basket on purpose on the only table for our soiled linens (in a tiny camper!). No table and chairs outside of it; we were instructed to use the group area 50 feet away to sit, which was unoccupied, but the chairs were tearing so we didn't risk it. However, his house, other structures, vehicles: all gorgeous and shiny. Hmmm. But the kicker was how this supposedly "chill" farm-rescue owner screamed at his dogs. Specifically, as we sat outside the $150/night camper on our own chairs with an upturned bucket for a table, his dog ran up to us soaking wet, and then the other dog joined in. We love dogs and didn't mind--we're at an ANIMAL sanctuary, right? But Scott ran toward us and his dogs in the gloom with a red, angry face SCREAMING, "I'm going to beat the shit out of you! You listen to me, not them!" That's not what we expect to hear and witness at an animal sanctuary, and the second sentence made US feel scolded. When we described this one thing to our group, they all said, OH HELL NO. There are not enough Tibetan prayer flags and yin-yang symbols in the world to mitigate that man's attitude, which, by the way, continued in kind when I asked for a refund. Visit this place for a program if you want, but stay somewhere else that's nicer, more competitively priced, with an accessible toilet, and supplies those "extras" for free.
