I'm writing this review as a pharmacist who covers this store every now and then and as a customer. I've always had positive experiences with the staff (especially upfront). People are friendly and for the most part they want to help. Now as a pharmacist, there's room for a LOT of improvement because let's face it, most people go to Walgreens for their pharmacy. What most people don't know is that a few other Walgreens locations have closed throughout the DMV area. That being said, the volume load here is incredibly high. It's like working at 2 pharmacies but having the staff of one. Local stores close and essentially merge their customers to a single location--I believe this was one of them because yesterday, I walked into a queue of over 130 (I'm used to seeing it being in the 30's at most stores just as a reference). As a pharmacist, I was ringing up customers more than actually doing pharmacist work (that's a major problem). This hinders the actual important work a pharmacist needs to do to correctly push out prescriptions timely and safely. To order medications appropriately when there's low stock and to make a difference in the community. I can't do all this work if I don't have the staff to support me. It's unfortunate because the community is nice and there's so much room for opportunities in improving many things but it just isn't prioritize by the higher ups. read more

I stopped by the Walgreens in Purcellville to pick up a face wash, since I had packed an empty tube for my trip. I really couldn't find one that's small enough for my 5 day trip. I looked in the trial sized section and I looked among the skincare. In my search, a few of the employees greeted me and asked if I needed any help. This Walgreens seemed very busy. There were patrons coming and leaving the pharmacy area. There were shoppers with full shopping carts. I have never purchased more than two things at a time at Walgreens. All around it seemed like an all around well stocked Walgreens, that you could stop by and pick anything you may need quickly. read more

There's a line 6 people long at the pharmacy counter and they have 1 person lazily checking people out (he has taken 5+ minutes each time to check someone out). They have about 7 people working back behind the counter, and not a single person has decided to come help check people out. I've been waiting in the lines for about 15 minutes now, and may have to abandon my prescription to get it filled somewhere else. Every time I go to Walgreens pharmacy, it is a problem. Would give zero stars if I could. This is by far the worst pharmacy I have ever dealt with in my entire life. Anytime I try to fill my prescriptions here, there's an issue. They either don't have it in stock and then take like 2 weeks to order more of it when it's a prescription that can't wait 2 weeks. Or they fill the wrong quantity (it's happened at least 15x now). They have also claimed my insurance doesn't cover my medication, which leads to me calling my insurance and my insurance says they do cover it. Then I relay that message back to Walgreens, they fill it once, and when I try to refill it they again tell me my insurance doesn't cover it. Whatever pharmacy tech they have there is actually a moron. The last 4x I went to get my prescription she couldn't even find it in the system. So then the pharmacist comes over and finds it in 5 seconds. What the actual hell. I've been a type 1 diabetic for 31 years now, have lived in 4 different states, probably 15 different cities, so I have a lot of experience with pharmacies and frequent refills for chronic meds, and I have never EVER had to deal with a pharmacy as incompetent as this one. It is unfortunately the closet one to me so I'm sort of stuck with it, but what a never ending headache this place causes. read more

Tried curbside. Not much of a coupon person but saved a ton on vitamins and such. Curbside convenient order all ready to go. One downside is more Walgreens app. First it still place order though three things were out of stock. I drove to this farther location to get the three things. The service here keeps getting worse and worse each time we pickup prescriptions. There are always delays with insurance, requests for refills ate not sent, medications are unavailable. In the last two weeks alone, we've had the following issues: I requested a refill on a prescription that's supposed to be on auto-refill; it obviously wasn't. I talked to the tech at the drive-up window, no refills were available, and I was told they would request from the doctor. After no word for two days I called and the tech informs me the dr's office was never called. Requested again, a week later, I'm still waiting on the script. The other day we showed up in the middle of the day to get Sudafed, pharmacy closed due to staffing shortages. Two weeks ago, my surgeon sent in a script for pain meds prior to my surgery. Day of surgery son goes to pick them up in the morning, has to wait an hour in line to even get to the counter, and again prescription is not ready. I'd give zero stars if I could. Worst pharmacy on EARTH. Average of a week to 10 days to fill an eyedrops prescription. Literally a bottle of eyedrops so there's no counting pills, just putting the box in a bag, yet somehow even this simple task is beyond the abilities of this place's employees. Lines are always approximately an hour long. Insanely slow techs & pharmacist. Get your prescription filled ANYWHERE else, even if it's an hour drive away... you will absolutely save yourself time. Every time I go to pick up a called in prescription, the line is 6-10 people deep and takes over a half hour! I don't understand what takes so long to process prescriptions if they haveultiple personnel working in the back and have one processing those in line thar many I suspect only need to pickup already processed items And they have now reduced hours to close at 6p. I wish I could give Walgreens 0 stars! Recently diagnosed with Lyme Disease, my doctor put me on the recommended treatment of three weeks of Doxycycline, one tablet twice a day. In putting my pills in the weekly pill box, I noticed they had short changed me and instead of a three week supply, only gave me TWO WEEKS of pills. I triple checked that amount to make sure I was not in error. I thank God I noticed it and it was not a life altering mistake! This could have been tragic with another illness and a different medication. As an RN, I was especially horrified at the careless manner of the pharmacy staff to their mistake. No apology, no explanation for their error. My family has 4 prescriptions on automatic refills at this pharmacy. It is time to change that! I miss you Rite Aid. Please don't take for granted that you are getting the right meds in the correct amounts. read more

Worst customer service imaginable, there's NO management. Supposed manager I spoke with blames deficiencies on lack of personnel, however, the pharmacy had at least eight people there and I had to wait 1 1/2 hrs after my appointment for a flu shot. Subsequently, on a follow up for Covid booster I waited 45 minutes after my appointment to be told they had no Moderna available. Go to Giant or Purcellville Pharmacy to get vaccines, Walgreens is a clown show. read more

Providing a pharmacy service seems pretty straight forward to me. From my experiences...this is the WORST pharmacy I've encountered in my life. We started using Walgreens in Nov 2022 and they've made mistakes to my sons asthma medicines TWICE, their lines are long, and their staff is slow. The pharmacy has always had it's issues but during covid and afterward, it just isn't great. The lines are always out the door or the drivethru is backed up at all hours. I know that the pharmacy life is complicated and busy ( I am a former Pharmacy Tech) and there is only so much that really can be controlled but they hire people who are not great with customer service issues. They are disorganized and often almost unapproachable. They don't want to be confronted by customers that have questions or issues because they act like they are constantly under water. They really need to step up the game here. The only reason I go back is because it is in my town. I started using them during the pandemic so I didn't have to go inside but now, there are other pharmacies that I would rather go to, if this is the constant business model. Curious if anyone from Walgreens corporate even watches reviews. I feel bad complaining, given that I know these folks work VERY hard, and I am not taking that for granted. I think they need to be better at communicating and making sure people feel heard. I don't think patients/customers need to go in and be rude and belligerent and self entitled, but there needs to be a better system in place to support the pharmacists and the staff, so it can run more efficiently. Walgreens is a huge company not a mom and pop pharmacy. They should be training people better and have the right people in place to offset the frustration. Then we came back early in the morning, we were the 2nd car and it still took 30 minutes. The register at the drive thru was not working so they had to go to the register inside. Trapped at the express line at walgreens. There are 11 of us in line. There are 3 registers (2 express pickup, and 1 consultation). There are zero people waiting on customers. I've been here for 20 min, and 3 people have given up and walked away, but 0 people have been helped. We used to have a RiteAid in town, and never was there more than a 10 min wait. Walgreens opened and ate the RiteAid, and now we are all screwed. Please somebody open a competing pharmacy, and put these clowns out of business. read more

I'm writing this review because I finally made the decision to switch my meds to CVS. I chose Walgreens years ago cuz they had 24 hr pharmacy. Now that that shortened their hours, CVS is open a little longer on weekends. But like all other reviews, they are just plain incompetent. About half of the time I have to make multiple trips to get my prescription. Made 2 trips today and still their system isn't working. Another time I made 5 trips before they could figure out how to run my insurance. I just made a phone call to ask if system was running and Eduardo just said "No" and hung up on me! One word and hung up!!!! I'm done. Next trip to the doctor and my meds will be sent to CVS!!! read more

Walgreens is finally opened in Purcellville!!! A real drugstore. Okay, not a compounding center (they lose one star for that), but the best regular drugstore in the area. If they don't stock your medication, ask them to and it will be there for you every month. No more leaving the drugstore with half-filled scripts only to have to go back in two days just to get the rest. Their automated system keeps track of inventory and alerts them to fill your script three days prior to due date which gives them time to reorder just in case they're low. Added bonus: whole store, including drive-thru, is open until 10pm Monday thru Friday, and until 6pm Saturday and Sunday. Another bonus is the Walgreens app. read more

This is by far the worst pharmacy I have ever dealt with. I was placed on hold for two hours trying to speak to someone. It initially said there were two people ahead of me, then one then I was next and then they disconnected me. I called directly back in and now there were four people ahead of me. I tried again the next morning and this time it said there were more than three people ahead of me. After an hour I gave up and called Walgreen corporate. They opened a report issue and said they would contact the store and ensure someone get right back to me. Three hours later and nothing. I finally found another Walgreens further away that actually answered their phone and will have my meds later today. I normally use Costco but this one particular brand was only available at Walgreens. I will never use this location again. read more

Pharmacy staff is excellent. Cashiers behind counters are excellent. Whoever it is that is calling themselves a "manager" knows little about management and nothing about customer service. Dual pack of fish oil tablets had one bottle with the safety seal completely unattached. I brought it back to be replaced and was treated to a dose of incompetence and rudeness. Questioned whether I had actually bought it there; lectured me on failing to save my receipt. No interest in addressing safety seal problem or the inconvenience that I experienced. Was entirely focused on what store computer was or wasn't capable of. Ultimately decided that solution was to allow me to take a new bottle of 200 tablets (bottle I was returning had 180 tablets) but to charge me for the "extra" 20 tablets. Very disappointing interaction. Walgreens needs to reevaluate who they allow to be called a manager. read more

This has to be the slowest pharmacy in the United States. The lines in the drive thru are always around the building and they move slower than any Walgreens pharmacy I have seen. They have four windows available but only one is ever open. The line to the pharmacy inside the store is also incredibly slow. If there was an alternate pharmacy in town, I would use it and never step foot in this store again. I always have to set aside an extra 30 minutes when I come to this pharmacy which is unacceptable. They need to get additional pharmacists to approve and issue the medications. That is their main hang up. read more

Iv been going to this pharmacy, for 10 years. Once back when there was another pharmacy next to them they were good. I remember thinking. Wow this pharmacy is awesome. Those days are over, iv experienced shorted prescriptions. Mixed dosages in my prescription. Waiting hours in line, having prescriptions called in days in advance, only to be told there working on it when I arrive after waiting hours in a line. They told me ( just circle back around , we should have it done by then) if you do go here, I advise you to count your meds at the counter, mind you the shortage, and mixed dosage only happened once, but still, something like that should never happen. The pharmacy is so very shady. I had gone for an RX and was told that it wasn't covered by insurance and was going to be a lot of money for an antibiotic eye drop from a scratch on my eye. They had a coupon that I could use if I signed up for their discount program so that would cut the cost down and I begrudgingly paid and thought nothing of it. My husband a few months later had the same thing happen when an oral antibiotic wasn't covered. It turns out that they're no longer in network with our provider and instead of just saying we're no longer in network, they tell you the RX just isn't covered. So if they tell you a RX isn't covered, check with your insurance, it's probably covered....just not at Walgreens. read more

The pharmacy at this location is just awful. They are extremely slow and consistently slow. Everyone in line knows it too and lets it show. Sometimes I think they are short staffed but then I will see 5-6 people behind the counter which is a good number of employees for a place this size. I recently went 20 minutes early for my covid booster appt. There was no line for those with appointments so I waited in the regular line and finally got up to the counter a few minutes after my scheduled time. There were only 4 people in line ahead of me though during that queue. I was then told they are really busy and it would be another 15-20 minutes to get the shot even though I had an appt. So I waited. At 20 minutes I got a text on my phone that my vaccination has been completed even though I had never received the jab. Is that proper medical documentation ? What if I left. Would their records still say I got the shot ? I could see them chatting behind the counter at this point. There were no customers. I told them about the text. Eventually a girl did give me the shot. She was very unfriendly. Then, after getting home, I realized that they didn't fill out my covid card even though I told they man at the counter that I needed it done. So I drove back and she filled out the card, but when I returned to my car, I looked closely at the card and couldn't read the lot number. So I went back a third time to have them fill it out more legibly. I also tried many months prior to get another vaccine when they said over head that you could walk up and get you shot. After 45 minutes in line I was told by the man that you need an appt and they were too busy then to even consider it. There was no one during that entire time in the waiting area for a shot so I believe they just didn't care. I went to my car and looked up Walgreens in Leesburg on my phone and they had mult openings. I went there and the lady who gave me the shot was so much nicer than anyone at this Purcellville store. I was in and out in 5 minutes. It is worth the extra 15 minutes to drive to and from the Leesburg stores. You will still be ahead time wise in the end. read more

The WORST pharmacy! Ever since Walgreens absorbed Rite Aid, the pharmacy has been lacking in customer serive and quickness. I called them to see if my prescription was ready and was on hold for 25 mins. Long pick up lines inside and out. Unfriendly staff. The entire store isn't as stocked as the former Rite Aid. The only reason I use them is for the drive through pharmacy. If we ever get another one in town, I most definitely will be transferring my scripts to not have to deal with Walgreens. read more
