I've always avoided this pharmacy based on my own assumptions. Assumption #1: Parking must be frustrating & time-consuming, since it's on Atwells Avenue. Verdict: Wrong! This Walgreens has its own private parking lot with strict 30 min parking spots to keep things moving. I had no trouble finding a parking spot, even at a busy time of day. Assumption #2: The pharmacy must be tiny with not a large variety of OTC products & other goods. Verdict: Wrong! It's very deceiving. It looks super small from the outside, but it's pretty spacious inside with a large beauty & skin section. I found the exact falsies I was looking for. It was clean inside, the staff was friendly, & I found the experience to be not-frustrating which is generally what I'm looking for when it comes to pharmacy errands. I will definitely be back to this Walgreens specifically. I might even move my prescription here. read more

This is the closest Walgreens to our condo. I had gotten an email with some deals and offers and I decided to take advantage of them. When I drove there, I found an easy parking spot right in the front. When I walked in, I saw only like 2 people in the entire store. Not very crowded for 9:30am on a Friday. I've been here a few times to pick up my photos. The photo counter has a button to call for service if there is no staff there. Usually within a few minutes, a staff member appears. The store is fine but the pharmacy is terrible. The staff at the pharmacy grudgingly acknowledge you and they only get more surly as the interaction progresses. Apparently their computers were down and they could not bill insurance. The woman behind the counter did not even apologize when I came back an hour later she just shrugged her shoulders. When I asked for my prescription back she said nothing and frowned. Strangely other people were able to pick up their prescriptions. When I first gave her my insurance card she looked a little put out by it being out of state. Not sure that had anything to do with my experience. I would rather go out of my way and go to CVS instead. read more

This place is revolting. REVOLTING. The backstory: I went in to pick up my prescription, which had been called in the day before by my doctor. When I arrived, it still wasn't ready... more than 24 hours later. Annoying? Yes. Uncommon? Not really. So, I agreed to wait 20 minutes while they filled it. I meandered around the store, only to find it filthy and virtually empty of patrons save for a creepy guy milling around and a few less than friendly staff people. The makeup selection was really gaudy, but they had an ok assortment of bath products. They also have a private lot, which helps seeing as this is on Atwells Ave. However, when I went back to get my prescription, there was no one at the counter, but I could hear the pharmacy staff arguing in the back... loudly. So, I waited some more. The guy finally came to the window, and had managed to completely forget who I was or why I was there. Really. So we went through the entire rigamarole again, and I finally got my effing prescription. On my way to the exit, the creepy guy I'd seen milling around earlier walked out the door and dropped something... a used condom. Yup. I gasped, the woman in front of me nearly vomited, and the staff people literally froze. It took them a full five minutes to figure out what to do whilst the rest of us stood there in repulsed shock. I have too many funny stories that have come out of being inside, outside, or in close proximity to this Walgreens and its parking lot to give this place anything less than 4 stars. Some reasons I bumped this baby up to 5 stars: 1. Competent patient pharmacists dealing with the sometimes cough, ahem, "colorful" neighborhoodlums, some of whom have bought me candy while waiting in line. (I really don't know why. I didn't engage those times. p.s. if you want to buy me candy, I don't chew gum but will graciously accept Kit Kat or peanut M&Ms). 2. Chicagoans don't realize it's spring until we see Wal-Zyr on sale. 3. Post-Holiday clearance (most recently $0.26 Santa Kit Kats and $0.89 wrapping paper. Who says you can't use reindeer paper in April). I mostly come here because it's convenient it's just a bonus that sometimes I get free goodies, offers of drinks or employment and a lot of jokes (especially bad ones). I'll be back. read more

I wish I liked it since its the closest pharmacy to home. But I just don't. Yes, it's nice that it has a parking lot in the midst of the Hill. That's where the perks end. I find it smells a little odd and that service staff have to be tracked down for check-out and the photo center. Recently my significant other nearly died of the plague -- okay, it was asthmatic bronchitis and a viral syndrome, but still -- and after a long day at the hospital we stopped at this store, our local Walgreens, to fill his prescription. I am comfortable here because this is the handiest drug store to my home base, but I had never utilized their pharmacy. Thao was calm and friendly, and did things like offer to call the physician to prescribe a less expensive medication. We opted for what was prescribed, and she proceeded to go over the drug information with us, the dosage and side effects, etc, telling us EXACTLY what the nurse at the hospital had told us. It really gave me confidence in her expertise. Thao made a stressful day far less stressful, simply by demonstrating that she cared. read more

This Walgreens is struggling. The staff there is bored out of their mind. I thought this won't be the case because it is on Atwells! But nope, it seems like the staff is already checked out the moment they checked into the store. The reason I give it a 3 star is because ironically, the people at the pharmacy are absolutely darlings. They are nice, professional, patient, efficient and polite. Well, my reason of going into a Walgreens is usually for a tub of ice cream, pack of mints, shampoo, lotions, etc and not excellent mind blowing customer service. Walking down Federal Hill I was looking for a place to buy large volumes of candy. For whatever reason, pharmacies are now the place to buy your sweets. Perhaps because you then walk over to the counter to pick up your insulin? This is a nice clean place with a parking lot (surprise!). Don't try to park there if you intend on doing anything else in Federal Hill because they will tow you. They are friendly and clean here inside the store. They were quick to help you and ask if you needed help if you appeared lost (like me). Overall, a decent location... just hard to get to given that it's on this busy street in Federal Hill. read more

All I had to do was pick up one prescription. There were 4 people sitting waiting for a prescription to be filled, all wearing masks, all within 7 feet or less of me. There was a woman in front of me with a plastic bag full of prescriptions, constantly typing on her phone. The woman who was helping her seemed in a daze, staring at probably a computer with prescriptions. So here I am, amidst 7 or 8 people all with masks, standing for 10 minutes while who-knows-what is happening. Finally i just left. If I get covid from these morons I'll be very upset. That they have no one there to help someone who's just picking up is ridiculous. Dangerous place to do business with in these dangerous times. You can find better. read more

This is a my pharmacy and convenience store. For the most part it's just your basic convenience store. Nothing fancy or different about it. I do have to commend one of the women who works in the Pharmacy for being exceptionally nice and helpful, but unfortunately her co-workers are not as great. read more

Super convient for anyone living in the Fed Hill, they have all your average pharmacy need and usually have great sales. Not a fan of the photo center here after some technical difficulties, last time I ordered a print it was ready 2 days later instead of hours later as promised. As a pharmacy, this Walgreens does provide the expected inventory of meds, OTC's, makeup, candy, ice cream, and feminine products I depend upon. However, I am very disappointed with the staff. I called ahead during the day and asked a staff member at the photo station whether the store had instant photo print machines for customers to operate themselves. I was told..."Yea, I think so." Uninspired by this doubtful answer, I still had hope. Just to be sure, 30 minutes before the store closed, I called again to which another employee replied, "Yes. We definitely do." Okay, wonderful! Well, I arrive at my local Walgreens to find no instant photo machine. Some of the staff here do not seem to know what they are doing and are clearly not helpful. read more

I practically live here. They receive more of my money than any other place in the area. This store successfully transferred my prescriptions from the hell that was Wal-Mart, the clerks pretty much all know me by now, so I always get a smile and a hello...then again, when you spend enough money in one store to probably support the manager's pay for a month, well... The pharmacy staff at this location all are super nice, professional, and helpful no matter what I need help with. As for the store employees, they are very efficient and even always tell me of deals and sales that will save me money or get me free products. They turned me away from getting a Covid-19 vaccination because I was visiting family from out of state (for a month, during the delta variant rise... I'm also pregnant and have had covid once, thus my delay in getting vaccinated). They said my out of state insurance wasn't accepted (even though the vaccine is technically free and if you don't use insurance comes out to a couple dollars - verbatim from pharmacy tech), so I offered to pay the couple dollars out of pocket and the woman said they don't accept cash payment?!?!? What? Makes no sense. It took me a while to do research and feel ok about getting this vaccine while pregnant, but felt it pertinent now that the delta variant is raging. I can't believe this incompetent pharmacy turned me away despite everyone being urged to get vaccinated for the well being of all. This is so backwards! It makes no sense how much trouble they gave me over this. The head pharmacist reluctantly tried to give me some coupon to get it, but then said I would have trouble getting my second shot from my current state??? Also, makes no sense. This is after I was told you can get/reschedule your 2nd Covid vaccine at any Walgreens pharmacy in the US if you are traveling. I do not recommend this incompetent pharmacy that lacks empathy and common sense!!!! read more

They really need to get their shit together. For a national company they don't really seem to know what they're doing. The voicemail says they have a convenient drive-through. You could drive around the building 100 times you will not find a drive through. The automated prescription system is lacking. I get updates when I don't have prescriptions waiting, Today I received a message that they wanted to be sure I was taking my new medication okay and that I did not have any problems. I called back several times and their voicemail seems to be down. I sure wish I knew what I was taking that they were so concerned about. I miss the days of the local pharmacist. read more

So, this past weekend we were visiting ri from ct. After a delicious Italian meal, we walked back to our truck ( parked on cedar) to find the back window broken out, glass was everywhere inside. After waiting a half hour or so on this deserted street w/ our daughter for the police- we decided it was getting late and cancelled the call. We found there was a walgreens nearby on federal hill & when my husband asked the mgr to borrow a broom / dust pan- they went above & beyond. They also gave us some duct tape and a garbage bag for the window. They also directed us to a nearby 7-11 where there was a vacuum. Thanks so much- you made our situation so much better & restored our faith in the good that is in people! ( we hope the person who stole my husband's backpack in the truck is enjoying the Yankees shirts/ hats it was full of-- karma??) read more

This is a convenient location to our home. They seemed nice, but the pharmacy is scary. I was clear that I was no longer working with Block Island Health Service and current scripts were from a different physician. They consistently sent notification to my former physician, not the most recent script, and then told me they had not gotten authorization to refill. Of course not since Block Island was no longer my provider. My current provider had called in the scripts. Then I needed a refill on my blood pressure medicine. After two days I called. They told me the medicine was no longer available and they had contacted my doctor. Yet again the wrong doctor. I called my current doctor who called CVS and verified that they had the medication. By the time I finally got the medication I had gone five days without the medication and was light headed and getting dizzy. Once back on the medication it only took two days to regain my balance. Several days later I got a call from the pharmacy asking if I still needed my medication. Evidently Block Island had called in a substitute. I said that I did not need it. I had gone to CVS. I told her that if I had not I would have been off my medication 10 days without any contact initiated by the pharmacy. She didn't seem concerned. She said she just wanted to know if wanted any. I clearly said no. Fast forward almost a month. My eye doctor prescribed some drops. Took the scrip in today for pick up this afternoon. Picked up the script and went home and went to put the drops away. To my surprise no drops, but tablets, and something I had never heard of. I called immediately. I was told they forgot to get the drops out of the refrigerator. I said what were the pills. I was told they were what was called in as a substitute for my hard to get blood pressure medicine by a doctor who is no longer my doctor. The cost was $50 for a drug I did it want. Had I not questioned what I was given, and I taken the tablets I would have serious side effects from being over medicated for blood pressure. Tomorrow I will take the tablets back, get the drops, get a $37 refund, and find a new pharmacy. This one is a malpractice case waiting to happen. read more

Pharmacy keeps messing up and doesn't admit to, fix or apologize for mistakes. Ex. 1 - I picked up a script for 30 pills 2x a day. I went home and sorted them into a two week med box and noticed I was short two pills. Called the next day to let them know about the shortage and get the two missing pills. Instead of fixing their mistake, they gave me a canned response that "their records show they gave me all 30 pills." There was no admission that there could have been an error with meds counted by hand and refused to give me the missing pills that were paid for. They preferred to let a patient go through the consequence of two days without their meds instead of acknowledging and fixing their error. Major fail Ex. 2 - called in two refills. Was told I needed to wait two more days to fill these meds. I called again on correct date and asked to refill both meds. They said ok, they'll process it. 3 days later, I send someone to pick up my meds for me. I get a call from the friend saying both meds aren't there. On speakerphone with staff, I'm told Insurance won't fill one for another 5 days because Dr instructions and dose number didn't match. As for the other, she tells me the script is expired. After some confusion, she switches from "expired" to "no refills left." Twice I called to refill this med and they didn't they didn't bother to mention there are no refills left while on the phone. Ex. 3 - I dropped off a script and talked to the pharmacist about dosage available on a medication my Dr. & I were discussing. I wanted to change my future meds to a different dose and Dr said he was a little unfamiliar with this (complicated) med and what was available. So while at pharmacy, I explained what I wanted with this med and asked what doses were available, so my Dr. & I could discuss it further on the next visit. She told me it can come in dose packs (instead of bottles) with varying doses throughout the day (which is what I was looking for). When I picked up my script a couple days later. I asked the pharmacist what they (specifically) call this pre-set medication dose pack, so I could discuss it with my Doctor. I don't know what else the pharmacist thought I was going to do with this information, but she got all dodgy and refused to answer this really easy question. She just kept asking "your Dr will know" (after he has already told me he doesn't, which is why I'm asking in the first place). When I go to a pharmacy and ask a specific and really basic question about a medication I've taken several times already, (what is the name the dose pack that I want to discuss with my Dr.?), I expect a real and professional answer. I don't expect questions about medication that directly impact my health and ongoing teamwork treatment plans with my Dr. to be avoided or withheld by my pharmacist. Summary: This pharmacy gets 1 star for refusal to answer basic medication questions, having missing / shorted pills when script is filled without resolution, lack of notice that there's an issue with refills and a lot of confusion and misinformation on their end. read more

Although the employee's are usually very helpful and polite more often than not they are out of anything and everything I've gone there for. The lady stocking the shelves here today was maybe the rudest person that I have every dealt with. I understand that they may have to lock their bathrooms, but if they do don't complain about people asking to be let in if you are going to have public bathrooms. My wife ask the lady stocking the shelf to let her in the bathroom which she did after she acted like it was a real bother. Our friend also wanted to go, and had went to ask the clerk behind the counter so they made a call over the intercom. When our friend got there the stock lady said in and exasperated tone, "Come on, holding the door for you." When my friend pointed out how rude that was she all but shouted, "How was that rude, I holding the door for you." She did not know I was with the two ladies so after they went in the bathroom I heard her call our friend a "b****" I understand that people have bad days, but at the same time, as a customer I really don't care. Customer service is the key to running a business, and this kind of service is unacceptable. I will never go here again or maybe to any Walgreens. read more
