They don't have to pretend like so many other salons. The atmosphere is understated. The pace is relaxed but efficient. You are the most important focus, not them. WHY IS AJ THE BEST? AJ does not just cut your hair. Before he picks up a pair of scissors he studies you. He feels the way your hair falls, and its particular qualities. He notes the shape of your head, your face, and other physical attributes that make you you. He listens to you and discovers THE IMAGE YOU WANT TO PROJECT. Then he shares his ideas and, if you agree, he designs a hair style especially for you, one that you can care for, one that will accentuate your good points and minimize (if any) your negative ones. And he has the skill to carry this out. People often comment: "You look great!" or "Great Haircut!" That is why, regardless of how I felt when I came in, WHEN I WALK OUT OF AJ'S, I FEEL BEAUTIFUL.

To whom it may concern (curly haired people might be most interested):…read more I moved to this area 20 years ago. For most of my adult life, I kept a very long hair style mostly due to my natural curl (need to have length for weight for "control" and "stretch" of the curl). It is not easy to find people who know how to cut naturally, quite curly, hair; so when a mistake is made, it is one that must be "lived with" longer than anyone wants to. This is a critical factor. Seeing a nurse for a doctor treating a dear senior friend I'm primary caregiver for, I could see instantly the attention to detail, the talent and creativity, and SKILL on one head of hair. I had to know who did it! It wasn't a style right for me, but it was perfect for this young woman. I have naturally curly but very fine hair and am in my mid-fifties now...so, gray is coming in - some little "shocks" and peppering definitely there, even if hidden under dark brown longer covering the silver bits. My hair was down to my waist when wet before I had enough and wacked it off a few years ago on my own in an emotional need for FREEDOM from the work and time involved in managing all that. Somewhat isolated, and super busy with caregiving, I just cut it myself (with the help in the back of my senior male care-recipient) for years. It was time for balance, evening out, true management and real care for ME. Meeting Crystal, and then THERESA whom Crystal referred me to, was a God-send. Anyone can chop and pop a hat on a head, right? I have been a professional hair stylist and a Hollywood and International level professional as a makeup artist to stars, celebrities, models and actors on every level for 25+ years. Living in this small town and rural area for 20 yrs with a change of lifestyle for my health and more took me far away from access to the "best of the best." Finally, I think I've found a place here where I am listened to, my own ideas and thoughts are respected, and a true collaboration can occur... and it did...and at a fair and "happy" price to all. Theresa accomplished exactly what was needed and wanted. Low maintenance, quick "management" (to almost none), and an ENHANCEMENT of my own hair's natural qualities and assets with a graceful and realistic, practical and healthy focus on such an incidental as "hair" should be to life. I told Theresa I wanted the ability to vary the style according to my mood, situation, the weather and more...all while aging gracefully and avoiding artificial coloring, etc. Well, SHE DID IT. I cannot be happier. I've hired and fired some of the "best hair people" internationally, and so far, with my first experience with Sublime and Theresa there (referred by Crystal, whom I'm so grateful to), I feel I have a safe place to go to for my naturally curly, graying (now) short hair. Hair should not be a "stress" for ANYONE. If it is, the right cut and care has not been applied. My life is complex, and I need a cut and ability to style that will rise to each and every occasion so that I can remain unselfcounscious and stay in true balance. This gives me freedom to focus on what most needs to be focused on, and without having to "check my look in the mirror," which to me equates to vanity - and that is something I abhore. Personal expression should be about an enhancement and honoring of one's natural expressions and gifts - not about artificial, fake and over-done, high-management "styling." Color for FUN, if you will, but not to "cover up" who one is. That's just my sincere feeling. Everyday when I wake up for another day, I'm not readying myself for a presentation or performance - I'm simply presenting an honest expression of who I am for what is needed, and "preening" is NOT MY STYLE. Thank you, Sublime, and Theresa in particular. What will I ever do without you from here on out? LOL! I can write, design, draw it, paint and sculpt, etc., but I have always directed my staffs to impement my directions most specifically where cutting and coloring were concerned (NOT my specialty, as has been design). I could not find people outside of Hollywood or NYC that can meet my expectations and needs, really. Today, I feel differently in Corning, NY with SUBLIME. If you want talent, creativity and and open mind from those who will LISTEN to your needs and listen to and work WITH you to achieve this, Sublime is the place to go. My bet - you will be glad you did. Love, Life and Peace in ALL we do - Wren

After she moved out of state, however, I didn't have a great experience. First, it was almost impossible to get an appointment because no one ever answered the phone (it was definitely during business hours). Even though I left messages with my number to call me back I never got a response. One time, when I *did* get through to someone, they told me they didn't know how to schedule my appointment because they weren't the stylist. WTF? I managed to get one last appointment in because I had a gift card and wanted to use it up. The lady I saw was fine but I'll never go back there again because of the previous crap.

In December of…read more2017, she removed the wires on mygranddaughter'ss braces and said her gums were in poor condition so until her brushing improved - no wires. So we got an electric toothbrush, water pick, went to a hygienist and overall... did all we good to improve her slovenly ways. The hygienist assured us her gums and tissues were excellent and while this was only a "snapshot in time" rather than an overall assessment of how well or not she cared for her teeth....at that time - her brushing and care was excellent. We went back to the orthodontist monthly - in April she threatened again to remove the brackets entirely and in June we have a type of falling out because she insisted on removing them and I insisted, since I had paid nearly $6000 to have this child's teeth straightened - and 2 1/2 years of my life and her's... that she wasn't going to remove them. She promised to return the money and remove the brackets but two months later - 6 months of no care ... she has yet to do either! I am writing to her board of peers, have notified by of our insurance companies who are expecting refunds as well, and overall - believe she falls into the fraudulent charges for negligent services category. She couldn't believe that I would want a refund. She claims to have removed braces from other children and no parent was "this" upset...? why? Who would pay this kind of money for a service NOT provided? Why would she agree to remove the remaining brackets and refund the money then cease to communicate with us? Moremi... is her name... avoid ...this ....office! Unless you have a very diligent child.
