I waited on hold 20 minutes and finally drove to the store to check on a script that was to be filled yesterday. It's 8pm. I stayed on hold while I walked into the store and stood behind one other person in line and I watched the girl press the whole button repeatedly without ever picking up the phone. When I got to the front, she was unpleasant and unapologetic. Asked me why I was here said OK it's gonna be filled in a few months working on it and then she walked away no explanation for why it had never been filled nor why she never came back to the phone. It's unfortunate because the previous pharmacist was so good here. Customer service has crashed here. Moving all my medication to Costco. read more

Oh my, what a mess. I have had so many issues with this store but today just set me off. I ordered 2 pictures for printing for an employee ID. They canceled my order so I went in person to print it and they said they couldn't print passport photos unless you pay $15-20 PER PHOTO. I calmly explained it's not for a passport and has different requirements than a passport photo. They refused. The lady helping me was so rude and honestly has no sense of customer service or any reasonable reason to deny my photos. I will never be printing here again. Also, every single time I come to this store, there are homeless people outside asking for money and sometimes screaming at you when you say you don't have cash or can't. They don't do anything about it. I've had a homeless person come up to my car and bang on the window before. It's dangerous. Overall, just save your time and go to the one on Westheimer, they are much more reasonable and reliable. Not to mention, they don't have loiters who bang on your window. read more

I went through the drive through during the height of Covid. I was very sick and needed to pick up my prescription. I was already in the system, had the same health insurance, and gave them my health insurance card and ID. The pharmacist got frustrated with the computer and told me to come inside because it would be easier. I asked, "You see the prescriptions I'm getting, right? You know I have Covid?" He said it didn't matter and I should come inside and stand in line. I was unwilling to expose other people to Covid so I made him figure it out while I was in the drive through. I was really disgusted that a pharmacist would willingly and unnecessarily expose others to risk of illness, especially at that time. read more

I had tried earlier this week to call and placed on hold so I had time today -- 37+ minute hold time for a medicine refill and question for the pharmacist. Multiple quick pick-up/place back on hold throughout that extended time, then finally rang to someone who picked up and disconnected. Just absolute junk, no other way to describe this 1919 W Gray St. Walgreens location. Blatantly rude pharmacists that, for reasons beyond my comprehension, are more interested in being stubborn/right than they are interested in actually trying to help when any sort of issue with a prescription arises. Truly a bizarre place, and I hope there is major staff overhaul soon because the location is by far the most convenient for me, so it would be a pain to have to change pharmacies. Calling the location is another incredibly weird experience. A couple weeks ago, when working to get a necessary prescription filled before heading out for an extended work trip, they not only refused to fill the prescription after my neurologist had expressly approved and sent an early refill, but then also forced my Neurologist to sit on the phone/on hold with them for over an hour as he was trying to get everything sorted out with them to just get me the medication I had to have. *Spoiler, I wasn't able to get it before having to leave*. They will leave you on hold for no less than 20 minutes (I have multiple screenshots as proof) and will repeatedly pick up the phone to where you can hear the background noises of the pharmacy for a second, and then immediately hang up and put you back on hold without saying anything. My best guess regarding that is that the Corporate Walgreens probably has some sort of tracker on 'customer hold-times' across all of their locations, so they have figured out that doing this little game probably resets whatever tracker/timer may be in place from corporate. That's my best guess, but this location is just a bizarre and strange place. If you have the ability to, I would highly recommend that you save yourself the time and frustration of having to deal with this location. This review was obviously prompted by that one ridiculously frustrating experience detailed above, but the issues are consistent every single time with trying to call them or get a prescription filled. That one instance just set me over the top, but they consistently make getting medication the most difficult process that you could possibly make it. I still haven't quite figured out if I'm upset, or more so just incredibly confused by the consistent behavior of the staff at this Walgreens location, 1919 W Gray St. It's a lot like a car crash here... incredibly awful & terrible, but difficult to look away from out of objective interest. read more

At this store they will tell you they are ordering your medicine and it will be there the next day and then the next day they have no idea what you are talking about and are rude to you. This is the worst experience I've had from a pharmacy. They do not care about you at all, don't try calling them because it will take 45 mins for you to get someone on the phone only for them to be so RUDE. They close for lunch at 1:30 and will be VERY rude if you come a minute before and will not give you your medicine. If you want to transfer your prescriptions to a different pharmacy, good luck because it will take 3 months for them to do that. On 10/12 I went in to get a refill on my critical heart prescription. I was told they only had 60 of the 90 pills my insurance had authorized for 45 days and that the other 30 would come in soon. I never got a call, text nor email that they had arrived, but visited the store later that month and the clerk rudely told me that I had waited too long and they would have to reorder. I stopped back in twice more and each time was told they didn't have them. I received a text on 11/4 that the extra 30 pills were still delayed. On 11/11 with my supply running out, I called the pharmacy for an update as my heart doctor warned me repeatedly that not taking these pills could be deadly. I was assured that the pills would be available on 11/13 the very day I would run out as I need to take 2/day. The woman said I guarantee it on the phone and I explained clearly that I was very worried as this is a serious condition. She repeated I guarantee they will be ready and that your insurance will cover it. On 11/13 when my wife tried to pick up the pills, they stated that my insurance wouldn't cover it and that I needed to pay nearly $2k or wait until 11/15. I called and tried to explain on numerous occasions after being put on hold twice for two hours and hung up on that this was an error on their end. I never had received the original 30 pills I needed that insurance had already authorized. They refused to listen to me and said first that I picked up the pills in November, then that I only needed one per day and should thus have many left and finally that 60 divided by 2 was 30 so I was fine through 11/15. None of these were remotely correct and I asked them repeatedly to check their systems for an error. They yelled at me, told me I was not listening , played games on the phone passing me off from one to another and asking for my birthdate and hung up on me. I finally went in person near closing and had to provide them with a solution of selling me two pills so that my life was not at risk today They literally laughed at me and told me I had to leave after I paid and continued to state that there was no issue on their end and that it was my fault for not listening to them. Today, I contacted my insurance company and it turns out Walgreens made a mistake and had billed them for 45 day supply which led to the decline of insurance coverage. Walgreens refunded my $30 and filled the prescription, but this was after treating me like a subhuman, defaming me, laughing at me while wasting hours of my time and literally putting my life at risk. Avoid this pharmacy and Walgreens at all cost. These people do not care for their patients, are rude and put lives are risk due to their ineptitude and cruelty. read more

Came to try and get film developed for a disposable camera and was told by Alex, a cashier, after waiting a total of 15 mins in line that they did not have envelopes to ship out my film roll. Max, the first cashier I dealt with had me step out of line to the side as I tried to figure out how to extract my film roll from the camera and then proceeded to tell me to get back to the back of the line AFTER I had extracted the film roll and WAITED on him to finish checking out his customer. I laughed out loud in disbelief, and even the lady walking up to the register noticed I had been waiting and offered up her spot. This Walgreens is a beacon in the night. The amazing thing is that it's open 24 hrs, so after a night of partying or sex or drinking bubble tea in our case, this is usually where we end up, so she can buy make up and I can take pictures of her buying make up. It's easily the best Walgreens in Houston, decent selection, usually not sold out of stuff, and friendly people working here. I've probably been about 20 times and I didn't even live in Houston for that long. The only reason it doesn't score 5 is that the prices are higher than James Blunt in "You're Beautiful." read more

The slowest and worst pharmacy in the Greater Houston area, with excessive wait times especially in the drive thru, completely eliminating any benefit that is supposed to come with filling a prescription at a pharmacy with the intent of picking up with minimal delay or hassle. I came to my appointment 10 min before my scheduled time l, however the kiosk would t let me sign in as it gave "DOB does not match records" I waited for the nurse tech to come out, however, before I could speak to her, another gentleman zipped in the office and closed the door. I waited to speak to the pharm tech, however the line was ridiculously long, so I waited until the line cleared. By the time I got to the pharm tech 20 min passed and still no appt. I confirm my appt with the Walgreens website online for 4 vaccinations (Covid, flu, pneumonia, and RSV), at my local Walgreens at 3:40pm on 8/14/23. 3:15 pm - I arrive (25 minutes early) and confirm my appt with the clerk. I am the only one there for vaccinations. The clerk then tells me they do not have the RSV vaccine! I ask why, if it was confirmed online and by email? She does not know. 3:40 pm - 25 minutes later, at my appt time, the clerk tells me I have a form to complete. She tells me it will come by email. 3:55 pm - The email has not arrived. I give her another email address to try and sends it to this second email address. It too never arrives. 4:00 pm - She asks for my ID and insurance. 4:05 pm - She finally prints out the form for me to complete. She tells me I only need to enter the vaccines I am to receive and then sign and date. She doesn't notice that the form is in Spanish! (I don't read Spanish.) I complete the form as instructed. She returns it to me and tells me I must complete the entire form which is full of personal and medical questions. I point out to her that the form is in Spanish and I don't read Spanish. I hand her the form and she goes to the back again. 4:20 pm - She finally comes back and hands me the form again to complete! This time it's in English. At this point, I've been at this Walgreens for over an hour, and they are no closer to being ready to give me my vaccinations than when I arrived. (During this entire time, no one else has received a vaccination either!) I've had enough, tell her so, and leave. (I will never go to Walgreens for a prescription or a vaccination again if I can avoid it.) read more

This is a two part review: The Pharmacist, Mai gets five stars & The Pharmacist Tech., Antoine gets no stars and a dissatisfactory rating. *Mai, the pharmacist took the time to consult with me and explain the pros and cons of these medications that I was getting. She explained in layman's terms the good and the bad. I feel she goes above and beyond her call of duty and genuinely helps patients. *Now, Antoine, the tech on the other hand didn't have the courtesy to greet customers, kept me waiting while I was standing a foot away from him and it was clear he wasn't busy at all. I feel individuals that are genuinely not willing to help while they are dealing with medicine and healthcare shouldn't be in it. Walgreens need to commend Mai for her great work with patients at her pharmacy and also reprimand individuals like Antoine that do not care or exudes an image that paying customers are inconveniencing them while at work. Update: The day after my experience below, I got a call from the pharmacy manager, who had independently taken the initiative to resolve the issues with the prescription from my doc. He then filled the prescription and called me to let me know it was ready. I was impressed. I'd still recommend that folks call ahead before driving over to Walgreens, but I'm upping my review to 4 stars (from an initial 2 stars) based on the manager's thoughtfulness. Original post: My advice to anyone getting a prescription filled here is to get firm telephone confirmation that the prescription has been filled before driving over to pick it up. Don't settle for promises regarding what time it will be ready for pick-up. I was strung along today for 2 1/2 hours while they discovered one reason and then another for why the prescription wasn't filled. In the end, my prescription could not be filled at all today and I will have to come back again tomorrow. (It's a trek for me, as the pharmacy is located by my doctor's office, not my house. (Yes, I'll be changing pharmacies now.)) and, although they had my phone number on file and knew that I would be coming back to pick up the prescription, no one called me to tell me there was an issue. While the pharmacy Staff is friendly and competent, their processes seem scattered. So, get telephone confirmation before you drive over there. And take note of the person you talked to. read more

Terrible Customer Service in the pharmacy department. I was having difficulty having a prescription filled on time. My insurance company was refusing to fill my prescription before a certain date. After speaking with them, I find out the Walgreens pharmacy has been incorrectly indicating how many pills I was being given. If they would have taken the time to adjust this, the insurance company would have filled the prescription on time. When explaining this to Pete Castillo on the phone, he yelled at me and then hung up. When I went to the store to confront the issue, he just filled the prescription and pretended like nothing happened. And I heard his supervisor back him up in his behavior. Every time I have gone to this pharmacy, I am met with disdain or a crap attitude. I've noticed the pharmacists seem to promote and encourage this attitude. Employees will only be as great as management encourages, and the curmudgeonly tone I'm met with at the counter seems to be promoted from within. I have never been greeted with a smile, and to ask for any kind of eye contact seems to be above them. I've been sighed at, had eyes rolled in my direction, blatantly ignored, yelled at, and made to feel uncomfortable. I love the makeup area remodel! The last two times I have gone here, I have spent tons of time swatching colors of the makeup testers all over my hands. They have tissue out so I can wipe off all the lipstick from the back of my hands. Because they have so many testers out, I know I will be happy with the colors when I get home. I feel like I'm at a cheap version of Sephora! lol They also have some different brands that I have never heard of before. I tried out some eyeshadow from Boots Botanics, a company from the UK. When did Walgreens get so fancy? I think it's a drugstore brand over there. I got two of the eyeshadow quads because of the buy one get one 50% off sale, and I love them! The colors are so pretty and perfect for creating a nice smoky look. I want to go get another look at the products in this brand! I love the new small shopping baskets! They are really big now, but they have rollers and a long handle so you can roll them around. This comes in really handy when you spend an hour swatching different lipsticks and foundations on your hand. I prefer these baskets to the carts. If you are a makeup junkie like me, you will probably love this store as much as me! Eyeshadow tip: If you want your eyeshadow to last all day without creasing, try the new Wet n Wild photofocus eyeshadow primer. It's only $5, and it keeps my eyeshadow looking perfect! read more

I've never had a problem at this Walgreens. I've had prescriptions filled within 15 minutes while waiting. My husband and I use the Redbox outside at least 1-2 times a month. I've used their Take Care Clinic and the intake process was simple, but it turned out they couldn't treat what I had. My insurance wasn't charged and they told me exactly who I needed to see. Parking here can be crazy. There is PLENTY of parking, but I've had several near misses with soccer moms trying to run me over with their Escalades getting into the spots closest to the doors. Honey, the extra 5 second walk won't kill you. If you're going to use the Redbox, I suggest using the iPhone app to reserve your movie first and then pick it up. The lines can get long, and all the new releases are usually gone at peak times. read more

Updating my 1-star review to....another 1-star review. Gosh, I want to love this Walgreen's so much, because I live so close. Just can't. They've completely remodeled the cosmetics area, which is beautiful now. Trouble is, everything now starts at eye level and goes down to the floor. So to view any items, you have to crouch down, pick up items, get back up, move to the next area, and repeat. Almost everything is stored so low you can't just look at it. Terrible design. And then....the employees. I wrote this first review in 2011, and they've been terrible ever since. The pharmacy I give 0 stars, one of the most unprofessional ones I have seen especially the morning crew. They have little knowledge of medication, the pharmacist has an attitude and the cashier likes to play with her breasts, keep lifting them up, this crew is what needs the uplift. I am grateful for this Walgreen's location! I can get here from my apartment without getting on a main road. A few stop signs and I'm there. I love that if I'm too lazy to go grocery shopping they always have fresh organic milk and lunch meat for me to grab. The cosmetic department is my vice. I can kill a lot of time looking at makeup and nail polish. They even have Essie nail polish, which is a great brand that I am excited to see at Walgreen's. I like that I can find anything I need here. Liquid Purpose face-wash? Dove cream-oil lotion? Candy corn? I can always find these and other hard to find items here. I've been to the Take Care Clinic a few times and thought the nurse practitioners were great and really knew what they were talking about. The pharmacist has always been helpful and available to answer my questions about prescription or over the counter medicine. I've been here at all hours of the day and night and have never been overly concerned with my safety. The only downside of Walgreens is that you do have to pay for the convenience of this store. read more

Lazy pharmacy staff. Went there around noon 9/16/17 to drop off a prescription. After waiting in the drive thru line for a good while, I was informed by the pharmacist that the medication wasn't in stock. No big deal. Asked the pharmacist if she could check in the system to see if it was available at another Walgreens location nearby and she said No. With a sour tone, she told me I should "just start calling around at other Walgreens locations". Which one should I start with? "I don't know" she answered. Really? Thanks for nothing, Walgreens @ 1919 West Gray, 77019. Either the pharmacist was lazy, or she was using a Third-World style inventory tracking system. Probably a mixture of both. Urban-style service I didn't really expect in River Oaks.
