This place was awesome. It was just like your typical Walgreens, but it was located in a very cool, old building that used to be a bank. There was even a cool "vitamin vault." I've been buying the toothpaste, razors and shaving products in Walgreens . It's always fast and easy to find this things here. This Walgreen's location was able to transfer and fill everything for me no issues same day, but with enough time allowed for the staff to do a full and thorough job. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I hope everyone is more appreciative and calm with them because they have had to deal with some difficult customer behavior. It is standard to have to wait for your prescriptions to be ready. Their service is GREAT. Always a good experience and fast service. It's really one of the best Walgreens I've ever visited. read more

I didn't listen to the negative reviews and I should have. Got an email that my electronically submitted prescription was ready but had an insurance issue. Tried to call, no one answered. Went in the next day to pick up with my prescription card in hand, they had no evidence of ever receiving my script, 2 techs looked and found nothing and said to call my doctor...where did the email come from?? I showed them the email and they just shrugged. I understand mistakes happen, but they should problem solve. This is not how you treat a patient. read more

After a 1.5 weeks of being told my rx would be coming in a day or 2 I sat on hold for 30 minutes to be given the same answer because they were understaffed when nobody else was there. Where to begin? I've been coming here for years. The lines have always been insane. I would say 90% of people who walk up have an issue. Insurance isn't working. They can't find the prescription. Etc. Etc. Etc. This time it was crazier than usual. I wasn't using insurance so I called the pharmacy to let them know so that these prescription would not be held up. I was on hold for so long (50 mins) I was able to ride my bike there while on hold. When I walked up to the window, still on hold, and let them know I would not be using insurance, the technician person said they could now move my order along. I said, "Yeah, I've been on hold with you for 50 minutes trying to do that." He sort of shrugged and said something I couldn't make out. I then said, "I guess I can hang up now." So I did. Anyway, I was told I could wait 30 to 40 minutes or come back in 2 hours. I chose to come back in 2 hours. Big mistake. I'm now stuck in a huge line that will turn this process into a 3 hour process. When I got to the window I was told it still was not ready and to come back tomorrow. There's a guy next to me and he's insisting on talking to a district manger or to get contact info because he's having some king of issue that's been going on for three days. This is a review of the photo department. I ordered two 8x10's in high resolution and two 5x7's in lower resolution during their recent 50% off sale. After I got home from picking them up one picture was missing a giant chunk of color right in the center like the printer missed it all together or it got stuck to something and ripped off yet they still put it in my envelope. The other 8x10 was bent right in the center on my face. The color was off on all of the images. I wanted to look at them while at the counter but I was too embarrassed because there was a line and they were pictures of me for my great uncle who was going to use them as a reference to paint a portrait of me to keep in the family before he passes. I am so grateful for the pharmacy staff at this location! Two people who stood out were the younger, female (blonde, I believe?) pharmacist and the pharmacist technician whose name I believe started with an M and was hispanic (sorry! I'm horrible with names!). I used to come 2-3 times a month to pick up different medications and they eventually recognized me and were able to prepare my medications once they saw me, which I always thought was very thoughtful of them. The best experience I had though was with the wonderful pharmacist tech (M). Somehow, one of my paper refill prescriptions was lost in the system and I didn't realize until I was about my run out (my bad). The doctor who prescribed them to me was no longer my doctor anymore due to insurance purposes, and there was no record of the prescription being submitted. I called the pharmacy after talking to the general Walgreens line and I was about to cry because I didn't know what to do. By the grace of god, M took my call, and listened to me babble about what happened and the approximate timeline of submitting the refills. M immediately said she will call me back and after approximately 15ish minutes, she called back and said she went through all of their paper prescription copies from the time period that I specified and she found my refill prescription!!!!! She took the time out of her no doubt busy work day just to make sure that I was listened to and helped. I seriously cannot emphasize how grateful I was/am. Unfortunately, I don't live in this area anymore, but I am very grateful for the care that the stuff gave me while I was there! read more

Wow. I spent almost an hour on hold waiting for the pharmacy. Finally hung up and called for management to see if pharmacy was closed. Manager said "ya one sec", put me on hold and never came back. This is the actual worst pharmacy in the city. If you can, go literally anywhere else. My prescriptions keep randomly canceling themselves and the staff is unwilling or unable to help. They are unkind and unhelpful, never reachable by phone, they close early without warning sometimes and all of the products in the store are locked up. read more

If you can avoid this Walgreens for prescription needs, then do. I'm not sure where the breakdown is but getting prescriptions filled accurately and on time is always a struggle. The app will tell you something is ready but when you arrive your prescription isn't ready. You'll get a text that you have a prescription, show up and it won't be ready. They'll tel you you should just always call first. But you can call first, confirm the refill is in process, ask when it will be ready, arrive at the time specified by the pharmacist, and it will still not be ready. This has now happened to me three times in the last month. The staff is lovely. So I'll not sure the issue. The only reason I shop this store is because I can walk here but it's challenging. The support staff at the registers are really kind and helpful so I give it two stars because of them. read more

Customer service is horrible here! This should be a zero out of ten. I went today to Walgreens to drop off my covid home test through fedex. I do my covid test through pixel labcorp.I have always sent my covid test through this location and now they tell me they changed the rules, not accepting any biohazard packages anymore. Oh and the employee said "well you can try to sent it through usps". Absolutely not! This package is already paid for. He even had to call his bald headed manager to clarify they can't accept my package. This employee kept saying this policy was new and they changed it last week. Where's the policy??? Show me! This Walgreens is definitely one of the older ones. The floors are super old and worn down and the lighting is drab. It could definitely use a face lift. The layout of the store is not super intuitive either. There are too many items per square foot. This store literally has everything - more than you'd expect of a convenience store. It sells maxi dresses and fake Birkenstocks (not actually fake, just the same style). It's nice that they sell Ventra cards so you don't have to trek all the way to an L station to get one from a machine. read more

It was so hard to find this place. We drove past it a couple of times because it was so dark and unassuming. It's definitely one of the older Walgreens in Chicago. It's a Walgreens. No better or worse than others. Not only does the store close at 8:00, but they've changed the pharmacy hours and the pharmacy now closes earlier. As a good Yelper I would share these with Yelpdom but I have no idea what the pharmacy hours are in the evenings, as they aren't posted anywhere. All I know is that I showed up and the pharmacy was shuttered with a sign that said it is against the law to dispense drugs without a pharmacist on duty. Now if I have to deal with limited hours and the lack of parking here, I might as well go to the Osco on Ashland or the CVS on Ogden. And I won't be buying the Walgreens ice cream or other junk people buy when they pick up a prescription. What if I were afflicted with a burning sensation when I urinate or maybe I am suffering from a toenail fungus or that restless leg thing they advertise on TV. This truly is a great pharmacy in terms of customer service. Everyone is very kind and understanding and there's usually a fairly quick turnaround. There are frequently long lines here but I know for a fact that they are short staffed, though not due to lack of effort for hiring, and the employees at the pharmacy are each trying to do the best they can. I started coming here because it was around the corner from my apartment but I kept coming because of the service. I've been going here for just over a year and never had an issue with notifications. I always have to wait so long for my prescriptions. I'm leaving a review finally because this time it was ridiculous. I waited an hour and some for my pain medication after just getting my wisdom teeth out. The numbing medication wore off, and I felt all the pain. Never should someone have to have wait that long . The employees here are either super lazy or just ignorant. One of the times I came there I had a black woman cursing at me and giving me an attitude at the pharmacy. Then today my script was supposed to be filled and ready at 5 and I showed up around 8 to pick it up. The male pharmacist told me my script wasn't ready and when I asked him how much longer it would be he told me 45 minutes because the other pharmacist is on break. I asked what time they close and he told me 9. So I come back around 845 and I can hear the pharmacist yelling at one of the customers to sit down because he was standing too close to the desk.. I don't know who hires these people but they really make the whole store look really bad. They are completely unprofessional and treat customers poorly. I'm not one to write bad reviews and I hardly write reviews ever but it's really shocking to me how these employees keep getting away with treating customers like this. The pharmacy staff must think they work at The Wieners Circle. They are always aggressive and like to argue. Even though you'll get a notification that your prescription is filled, it's not. Came here to return a product and called ahead explaining that I don't have a receipt or the tag on the product and was told they could pull it by my Walgreens number. Get there and see a bald gentleman who appears to be the manager and I ask him where to return the product and he immediately cuts me off and says they cannot. I tell him that I specifically called and asked and he says - was it to me - I said no. He then watches me at the counter as I put in my phone number to pull up the order and they explain that without the tag they can't do anything. I left the product and walked out. Yes, it's just a Walgreens. And it's a relatively smaller one so they have the basics but the selection is not terrific. And the employees are not the MOST helpful or joyous people, but they also work at Walgreens. I cut them some slack. This is a pharmacy from the depths of hell. They constantly have 7-8 people behind the counter yet they have an average phone wait time of 15 mins and if you call in your prescription and go to pick it up an hour later, they act as though they have no idea who you are. It is THE most frustrating thing in the world to call in for a prescription, be told that they have it already waiting and then going to the pharmacy only to have them tell you it will be 20 mins for them to "get it ready"???!! I rely on my prescriptions to live and I have had to rearrange my entire day more than once in order to pick up a prescription that I was told was ready at 9 AM that same morning. I used to live downtown and went to a pharmacy in the heart of the loop that serviced 10x the customers and was 10x more efficient. I also want to note that this Walgreens is not on the corner of a street, it is in the middle of a block. read more

Please note: This review is only for the pharmacy, and it contains a frank discussion of female reproductive concerns. I went to this Walgreens for about 3 or 4 months for my birth control, after having gone to the Walgreens at North and Western for years, because I moved. Most of those 3 or 4 months, I had perfectly friendly, normal interactions with people at this pharmacy. But then, I had a phone convo with a pharmacist regarding the timing of my refills; basically, the pharmacy wasn't filling my prescription until 12-24 hours after I needed to take my next pill, which was causing breakthrough bleeding for me every month. When I explained to this pharmacist (who happened to be a man) over the phone that I was having to start my pack later than I should, per my usual schedule, his response was that I could go up to 3 days between pills without needing to use a backup method of birth control during sex. First of all, I've never been told this - by any medical professional, or by the manufacturer of my birth control, and if his advice is incorrect, it could carry very serious consequences if someone were to follow it. Second of all, like many women, I take birth control for a variety of reasons beyond preventing pregnancy, including heavy, irregular bleeding and hormonal balance. So, in my convo with this pharmacist, I then had to embark on a discussion of all these personal reasons why I take the pill, and why it's important for me - for all those reasons - that I take each pill on time. It was almost like a role reversal, where I'm telling a medical professional what they should have been telling me. His response: that he didn't know what to do, and we were "between a rock and a hard place." What? Tell me I should call my doctor, or my insurance regarding the timing of my refill; at the Walgreens on North, a pharm tech/pharmacist was able to make that kind of adjustment within their system during a phone call. When I told him that, he then proceeded to look up the dates that I had picked up my prescription in prior months, in an effort to prove that I did not, in fact, have that adjustment made at another Walgreens (which I did). On so many levels, this was an extremely unprofessional conversation. Poor customer service, and, in the end, I was left questioning the medical advice I had been given, and I felt as if I had just had a (uniquely female) medication that I've been taking for over a decade mansplained to me. read more

They get at least 2 stars because they do (for the most part) have your standard in-a-pinch Walgreens stuff. They lose 3 stars, however, for service and the fact that they NEVER EVER EVER have a gallon of skim milk or eggs when I need them. Do I just go on the wrong day every single time? Do they get delivered on Monday, purchased en mass on Tuesday and I find myself angry yet again on Wednesday? What gives? There's always 2% and Vitamin D milk on hand, but I'm used to skim milk. I know they sell it because the little tag in the cooler says "Skim Milk." I have never once successfully purchased eggs or skim milk there. I've given up all hope and now go to the bodega down the street. Yes, it's two blocks further away, but they even sell such rare delectables as bacon and butter in reliable quantities. Customer service is predictable Walgreens customer service, but just because I'm used to receiving crappy service doesn't mean that they get a pass. People are friendly enough, but I'm always waiting for the high school-aged cashier to finish his or her conversation with his or her high school-aged friend before I get cashed out. Ring me up so I get the h%ll out of there, then you can finish gossiping free of any distraction. I go here for toothpaste, toilet paper and gum. That's about it. read more

Specifically about the pharmacy.... THIS IS HOW A NEIGHBORHOOD PHARMACY SHOULD BE!!!! My experience was like a commercial! I called the pharmacy with random questions about some medical equipment and vaccinations. A pharmacist picked up and talked me through all of my questions -- not once feeling rushed. I walked in after they phoned me that my prescription was ready. They were very careful to check my insurance and when not all of my treatments were covered gave me some options. I even did a walk in vaccination. The entire staff was friendly, informative and considerate. I watched them take care of 5 other customers all of whom had similar experiences. Seriously they could just film the commercial by filming these guys live for 10 minutes. Highly unexpected for a chain, but I am glad I did so.!. read more

Terrible customer service. Very slow. Rude. Generally have difficulty receiving and finding new prescriptions. I have come here at least a dozen times for prescription fills and refills. Whenever I get there I'm generally waiting and not greeted. There will be people working behind the counter that see you but continue to do other things and don't acknowledge you for at least a few minutes. On several occasions they have not had prescriptions of mine that were sent in and when I verified with the doctors they said they were sent more than once and the pharmacy just tells me to continue calling the doctor. But come to find out they were having an issue with their system to receive prescriptions. I've simply resorted to making sure I have a paper script. They also made me wait for more than 20 minutes while they tried to find prescriptions for me telling me that they weren't in their system only to find out that they were searching in the wrong spot and that they had my name in their system more than once. This last time I had multiple to fill for different things and when I asked the pharmacist what the drug was for she just looked at me and said nothing. When I asked a second time she told me the pharmaceutical name for it - and I had to ask a second time what it was for and play this sort of guessing game with her. I'm going to try out a local small business pharmacy down the street where I think I will have better overall service and bedside manner. read more
