I was also a little wary as I was ordering online, without smelling first. But a $6 a sampler, I figured, why not give them a try? Shipping was only like $4 for first class mail and each time, the package was delivered pretty quickly. Shipped on a Thursday and delivered on a Monday or Tuesday. I was really excited to try out my fragrances but then I think the package was stolen! I let The Fragrance Shop know and they sent out another package so FIVE STARS for customer service! I decided to have the package shipped to my office instead and these perfumes smell AMAZING! Santal 33 was great. I am IN LOOOOOOVE with White Tea, which smells just like Bulgari/Bvlgari "au the blanc" which is a very expensive and hard to find unisex perfume. I have yet to try the other two samples I got in the mail, but I will be ordering more samples and ordering a larger bottle or spritzer of White Tea. Also, I highly recommend trying perfume oils. Way better than typical alcohol based colognes/perfumes.

OK...I don't write reviews. Seriously. I'm way too busy. Check my history. I'm writing one now…read morebecause everyone needs to go see Angela. Let's face it, we all have things we don't like about ourselves and the good news is, we have the power to change many of those things. But, there's usually one particular thing that we hate and, while it sometimes creeps into our consciousness, it always affects our worldview in subtle and unconscious ways. For me, that was my brows. I could never get them straight. They always looked different from one another and I felt like they closed my eyes in, making them look small and sleepy. I ended up frustrated with every makeup solution I tried, and the time I spent trying to look awake, alert, and generally just "put together" only resulted in resignation and defeat. I wasn't going for a glam, overdone look and I never considered "permanent makeup" because I didn't want to look like a surprised clown all the time. (I mean on weekends, sure, but not every day...) I was also concerned that the impact of the aging process would just make me look sad in the way that abandoned buildings evoke a sense of loss. (In full disclosure, I'm not inclined to tattoo my face...you're not fooling anyone, "permanent makeup.") Once I went through menopause late last year, my brows stopped growing all together. That made me feel even worse about myself. I was desperate for a solution. Then, along came a spider...er....rather....an online article about "microblading." What a time to be alive! Just as "trailers" are the new "tiny homes" of this contemporary, euphemistic landscape in which we all find ourselves, "permanent makeup," not to be outdone, hired a PR firm. Welcome to the Microblade Revolution! OK...enough of this creative writing exercise, one of us needs to get back to work... While Microblading relies on the same foundational elements of the tattoo, it is vastly different and last only about a year at a time. I'll leave it to the experts (READ: Angela, not REDDIT) to explain the varieties and specifics to find what's right for you, but for the love of God, (if you embrace that sort of belief construct) do it now! Call her! Having beautiful, precise, face-framing brows is a transformational experience, webfriends, and for a host of reasons I don't have time to explain, you need a seasoned, reputable professional who's also an empathic, compassionate artist. There is certainly skill, expertise, technical proficiency, and experience involved but there's an equal measure of instinct, intuition, active listening, compassion, and visual artistry required to get this right. People stop me in airports and tell me my brows are amazing and ask where I had them done. I can't make this stuff up. (Well, I guess I can but I wouldn't.) At the end of the day, Angela's work is in a league of its own and part of the reason for that (I believe) is her art is delivered in service to others. For Angela, (I believe) It's less about the thing and more about how the thing makes you feel that matters most. That is a rare quality to find in a service practitioner. I can't wait to try her other services and hope you will too. (There's a "before" and "after" collage in my profile) Enjoy!

This was easily the worst Brazilian wax I've ever had. For starters, my esthetician did not leave the room for me to get undressed and get on the table. I have never had that happen to me, and made me uncomfortable from the jump. For context, I've been waxing for about 2 years now. This wax hurt more than when I tried sugaring a few months back, which hurt like noooobody's business. My esthetician pulled almost every strip off in two pulls, which prolonged the pain. I've had estheticians sometimes pull strips in two rips if it's a big one, but never EVERY SINGLE ONE. At the end of the wax, she went back and did a few clean up strips AND tweezed. I was confident that she did a good job, even though she didn't offer a mirror to look at her work. As soon as I got into my car, I lifted my dress just to peek. When I tell you PATCHES! I have NEVER had an esthetician miss so. many. hairs. And not like thin, lighter hairs that the wax can't grab. Thick, coarse hairs that definitely could have and should have been removed. I was so disappointed. Not to mention, this is the most expensive Brazilian I've ever had ($62 BEFORE TIP). Definitely not worth the money, and I won't be back.

And I had this weird blurred vision issue going on in one eye. So on a recommendation I went in to see Matt at Triangle Natural Medicine and WOW he did some great stuff. One mega session on the table (my first time with acupuncture!) and some herbal supplements that Matt gave me really set me straight. Very knowledgeable and made a first timer feel completely comfortable - I plan to go back again next time I visit. I may even visit family just as an excuse!

This was…read moremy experience with him: He charged me $70 an hour for each of 52 weeks, a full year of weekly acupuncture visits to help me with my bone pain. I started going to him when I first moved to Carrboro so I had not yet found a primary care physician. Matt told me he could heal my bone pain and that I did not yet need to find a local physician. I showed him a letter I had just received from my previous physician which stated that blood tests taken at my annual physical one month earlier indicated that I needed to get more blood tests done right away. Matt actually said these words to me when I showed him the letter and asked his advice: "Don't worry about that. Doctors these days don't really know what that blood test even means. Just keep coming to me every week and I promise you'll start feeling better soon." Bottom Line result of trusting Matt Polly: for the 10 months I delayed finding a real doctor to evaluate my bone pain, cancer was proliferating through my bone marrow and destroying my bones. If I had found a doctor right away and received a proper diagnosis (read: NOT TRUSTED MATT POLLY), I would not have had to give up running, riding bikes, even just standing up long enough to bake a cake without suffering extreme bone pain due to the holes in my bones caused by a delayed diagnosis and immediate treatment. The fact is that Matt Polly, in my case, practiced outside the limits of his training. Hence my advice: use extreme caution and even avoid this particular practitioner altogether. After more than a year of being his patient each and every week, when he found out my problem was actually bone cancer that had been destroying my bones for a full year while I was in his care, Matt did not even call me to see how I was doing. All he did was say that his girlfriend was afraid that my husband and I might be mad at him. I never heard from him again.

I have always had a good experience with the optometrists but have had issues with the opticians the past two years. Last year, my prescription was changed such that all the negative powers were entered as positive and vice versa. I had only discovered the problem after picking up the glasses late one Saturday afternoon and had to have the lenses remade once they figured out what the error was. This year, I went in and found out that they no longer supply Essilor lenses and coatings which are my preference. This is because I used to work for the company that makes the equipment that Essilor uses to put coatings on their lenses so I am well aware of the quality of Essilor's lenses and coatings. I was a bit hesitant but decided to get glasses anyway since I was there. They came in about 10 days later but I received a message that they didn't pass a quality check and they were being sent back to be remade. I got the final pair about 2 weeks later. I had only worn them 3 or 4 times when I noticed a small smudge in the corner about 2 weeks after that. I tried removing it with the cloth provided, then with the cloth and water, and finally with lens cleaning spray, always with the lens cloth. Since it wasn't coming off, I took it in thinking they could get it off but they said it was a scratch. To be fair, I did not have the scratch warranty as I've had glasses for 45 years and never had an issue and having worked in the business am aware how to care for them. To me, it seemed like a defect. The optician's exact words were, "Well, you didn't purchase the warranty so there's nothing we can do. Have a good day." And then she walked away. Well, I'm walking away from this business.
