I am not typically inclined to writing negative reviews, but unfortunately, I had an interaction with the pharmacist of this location that was downright disrespectful. Having taken a controlled substance since I was 16, I am no stranger to the red tape associated with my medication. After a handful of bad experiences with pharmacies in my neighborhood -- I'm talking medication delayed for weeks with little to no communication from the pharmacy -- I decided that making a short hike down to South BK would be worth the peace of mind for timely refills. My psychiatrist agreed, and I proceeded to get my medication from this pharmacy every month for the next year and a half with zero issues. If you had asked me just a month ago about my experience at this location, I would have emphatically recommended them: they were organized, helpful, friendly, and almost always had my meds in stock (with the exception of one time, during which there was a nationwide shortage). Unfortunately, that all changed today. When I texted the Walgreens number to get an RX status update, the automated response said that there were no med orders in the system for me. Weird, because the text above confirmed that they had received the script from my psychiatrist two weeks prior. I called the pharmacy to clarify what had happened, and the pharmacist told me that I lived too far away to refill the controlled substance, and that my location raised red flags for her. According to her, company policy prohibited her from refilling controlled substances for those outside of a 10-mile radius. There seemed to be some confusion about where I lived -- part of this was a technical fluke, as I still have my childhood address attached to my Walgreens account, and have not been able to modify it -- so I voiced that my correct address was in Brooklyn, not upstate NY, and that I actually lived 5 miles away. The pharmacist responded -- and I quote -- by saying that she "didn't want to talk about how many inches, feet, miles, or whatever," but that I simply lived "too far" and explicitly stated that I should no longer call that pharmacy location. Despite my frustration, I began to calmly ask what policy had changed -- I was genuinely curious to know, as this was all news to me -- and the pharmacist cut me off to restate her company's policy at least two times and to exasperatedly scoff at me for "travelling through half of Brooklyn" (another direct quote) to get my medication that I need. I have no doubt that her job is stressful, and I know that the closure of another pharmacy in the neighborhood has caused strain on this one, but I don't believe that the right way to treat anyone who is confused -- whether friend, family member, customer, or even stranger -- is with disdain and bad faith, especially when something as urgent as a necessary medication is on the line. Fortunately, I was raised to treat others with compassion, so I calmly responded by affirming that I was not questioning her nor company policy, but simply wondering what had changed -- not only had there been zero communication about this, but I had also been successfully obtaining prescriptions from this pharmacy for at least 18 months. She told me that the previous pharmacist was "less diligent" than she was, and that she doesn't want to raise any eyebrows were the FDA to see that she had authorized a refill for me. This part is actually fine -- we are all just trying to do our jobs and do them well, right? -- but to have to sit through half an hour of unhelpful information delivered in a disrespectful and borderline insulting manner is simply not acceptable. It is probably a blessing in disguise that I cannot get my medication here as I no longer have to bear the personal gripes of this pharmacist. That said, I worry for the customers who may also need urgent refills and suddenly may not be able to get them despite receiving no communication about these updates. All in all, if you live more than a 30-minute train ride away from this pharmacy location, BEWARE -- and consider looking into another location. What was once reliable may be changed at the drop of a hat, and without keeping you in the loop. read more

Too long line to cashiers any time. Solted pretzels "Nice " have been never in that store.

This store fails in comparison to the one they closed on 713 Brighton Beach...unfortunately referring to the pharmacy section they provide no coupons for prescriptions the Brighton store always had coupons to discount expensive prescriptions. I had to pay $227 dollars at 68 years old and I just got my part b but still needed my part D for prescriptions they failed terribly. The other parts of the store was ok. Came in after work to pick up body wash and noticed the women's body washes were locked up but not the mens? After waiting over 10 minutes for someone to unlock the women's body washes they didn't even let me hold nor check/inspect the bottle. I wanted to read the ingredients before purchasing but instead they took it to the cashier directly and placed it behind the counter while I was waiting on line. They simply grabbed it and headed straight to the cashier. When I asked him why it was locked up unlike the mens he said he "had no idea". I ended up purchasing it with some other personal care items because I needed them regardless of the store experience I encountered. read more

Review #439 None Elite Squad I've been to many WalGreens in many cities and I can't say wallgreens is walgreens anywhere you go. With its Competitors CVS and Rite Aid it's hard to say who takes 1st place since they're All the same...but this WalGreens compare to others lacks more inventory. It's not the Biggest ..its not the brightest but the shelves lacks more variety to choose from. It needs a makeover as well, brighter lights for energy ..the staff since they're Young..more Energy and Up beat and training in Customer Service..they're not rude, they're just quiet..they know their isles but just need that inviting approach..comfort feel..that were here to help...and that is why it's a 3 1/2 star Walgreens..round it off to 3 read more

I just got off the phone w Walgreens Corporate at the way I was TREATED and SPOKEN to as customer and a person ! I went into this location last night at 1129pm and I was greeted by this " rude and nasty " Asian male cashier who says to me NO CASH we are only accepting credit ..... I say okay may I ask why and do not be so nasty ! We only accept credit no cash at 1130 and on - so I say what if I only have cash since I never HEARD OF THIS POLICY at any other Walgreens and his rude reply was then you won't be making a purchase ! What a nasty UN professional rude employee . I then asked where do you have a SIGN anywhere in the store explaining this to ALL customers so they are warned if you come in 1130pm - 12 am " NO CASH accepted" and he said there are no signs = WHY NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a regular visitor at this Walgreens location, primarily for the pharmacy. Having access to pharmacy 7 days a week and as late as 9 pm just two blocks from home helps. Like the fact that they have almost everything that Dr prescribes. On a few occasions when they don't have it in stock, it does take a few days. But they can quickly check other locations availability, which is a huge plus. As far as regular store, they tend to run low on many things they offer. Just another day, went in to buy some over the counter medication and wants basic vitamin water they had on sale. They had only one flavor. As far as service, they are just doing basic minimum. No one goes above and beyond. And i rarely seems any manger taking care of customers. Or may be don't see them because they don't have a tag. read more

Be very careful when filling a prescription at this location. My daughter was given a prescription for a Z pack and Suprax. Instead they gave her Cephalexin. . She paid for the medication, got home and realized they had made a mistake. People have died over mistakes like these. Pharmacists need to double and triple check their work. Please get it together, peoples lives depend on it. These types of mistakes could have and have had dire consequences . We now know not to go back to this location. I give them one star because I can't give them a negative amount of stars. Luckily she was on top of things and realized the error before she took the wrong medication read more

Horrible service! The clerks there are rude and don't know or care about providing good customer service.. they should realize that customers are the reason they have a freaking paycheck in the first place. Especially an older Indian/Pakistani woman and young brunette with a russian accent and a herpe on her top lip. Go to CVS instead! read more

Really great customer service in the pharmacy. They are a lot more pleasant than other pharmacies in the area. Recently had some issues with a prescription and they were really helpful and dealt with the issue right away. I go well out of my way to get my prescriptions here! Be prepared to wait in line most of the time. Sometimes they're out of stock in basic things but the people that work there are friendly and the place is clean. I like the fact that they have parking and do carry basics so that if I'm in a bind I can go there cause it's very close to my house. read more

Rude and unskilled customer service . The promotions were placed on the wrong products and when my debit card was charged without giving discounts, the associate didn't bother himself to go and check the products on the shelf under the promotion sign first, until the manager was called . The manager removed the promotion sing from the wrong products herself and left . I proceeded with doing return on the items that was wrongly promoted and associates seemed confused in his actions, was trying to do multiple returns on my card and at the end wanted to give me store credit on Walgreens card . that never happens before and I offered to accept either cash or refund on my debit card ,but doesn't need a store credit . The manager was called in again and looked confused with the transaction that the associate did and couldn't fix it, telling me just to get the credit without apology . I was by the register for good 20 minites along with the sick child that needed fever reducer that I was buying, and at that point I just told manager to reverse transaction and take everything back and put money back on my debit card . She did, gave me the receipt conformation and I was told to take picture of it on my cellphone and give it back to her . I have never heard of such activity or walked out of the Walgreens store without a proof of return and my debit card . I was charged over a $100 and insisted of providing me the the receipt .
