I saw this place from a hike up toward one of the peaks, and on a hot summer day all I wanted to do…read morewas sit wherever that lovely rooftop was. We kept it in our sites as we descended, and found it to be on the 6th floor of the Avenue Hotel. Its outdoor seating area was lovely. On one side you're just in the tree tops. The other side looks over an underwhelming cityscape, but that's not Rooftop's fault. It's still just nice to be on a rooftop! It started to rain not long after we arrived. We moved under the patio cover, and that was a lovely way to watch and hear the rain until the wind really picked up and we moved inside. It was only around 4pm so we both ordered the mocktail on the menu. It's the only one and pretty simple, but it was quite delicious -- muddled strawberry and 7up. I bet it would be even better with Ginger Beer! Maybe a little high in price for the small size and no booze, but oh well. As the rain continued, we decided to share an appetizer to wait it out. We ordered an olive hummus which was surprisingly decent (I'm not an olive fan normally) with pita chips. I wasn't a huge fan of the pita chips, but they served as a perfectly fine delivery mechanism for said hummus. The staff there was really nice and seemed to get along and share duties well -- in a small place you notice things like that and it made an impression.

They have bar and table service, and food offerings available. We only had drinks but the food offerings looked fantastic. We enjoyed that at least on our visit, the volume was minimal which allowed us to converse without yelling. Thank you for providing an enjoyable experience in the heart of town

We had a 6:00 reservation at Seven oaks. When we walked in there was no hostess but after about 5…read moreminutes someone told us to either wait at the bar or at an area to the side. At this time we could see only 2 tables were occupied and the rest were in various stages of being ready to seat customers. At about 6:15 we walked over to the bar where someone eventually came up and said they didn't have any tables. We informed him we had a 6:00 reservation so he put us at a table with no water glasses and no napkins. The people we were with ask for some water, he and his wife were brought water but my husband and I had to ask to get some. After another 15 or 20 minutes a server finally came to our table. We ordered 3 glasses of red wine and an iced tea. We also went ahead and ordered an appetizer and our entrees. Quite a bit later they walked out with 3 glasses of white wine. We pointed out on the menu the wine we ordered and she took the menu with her and began looking through bottles. After a while she came back and said they didn't have it so we ordered a different wine. More waiting then the brought the 3 glasses of red. We had to ask about the iced tea. When it came it was full to the top with room temperature tea and no ice!!! Had to ask for that to be served with ice. While waiting for another lengthy time period for the appetizer (they don't serve bread or anything) we actually considered leaving! Eventually the appetizer came. After finishing that we were in for another long wait. 3 of us ordered the duck and a filet was the other order. In the mean time a few people came in and were turned away so there were still only 3 tables occupied. When we finally got our food my husband's steak was cold! It had probably been sitting up there for ever waiting for the duck to be ready! The only thing I can say good about the experience is that the duck was good but in no way worth the frustration. I can't imagine how this place has stayed open for 2 years. It is very expensive and the worst service of any place we have ever been. Lesson learned, should have gone to Mike's place!!
