Our last visit here the rooftop was closed, so we were happy it was open this trip (we went twice). Great views of the historic downtown Hot Springs area. They have bar and table service, and food offerings available. We only had drinks but the food offerings looked fantastic. I saw this place from a hike up toward one of the peaks, and on a hot summer day all I wanted to do was sit wherever that lovely rooftop was. We kept it in our sites as we descended, and found it to be on the 6th floor of the Avenue Hotel. Its outdoor seating area was lovely. On one side you're just in the tree tops. The other side looks over an underwhelming cityscape, but that's not Rooftop's fault. It's still just nice to be on a rooftop! It started to rain not long after we arrived. We moved under the patio cover, and that was a lovely way to watch and hear the rain until the wind really picked up and we moved inside. It was only around 4pm so we both ordered the mocktail on the menu. It's the only one and pretty simple, but it was quite delicious -- muddled strawberry and 7up. I bet it would be even better with Ginger Beer! Maybe a little high in price for the small size and no booze, but oh well. As the rain continued, we decided to share an appetizer to wait it out. We ordered an olive hummus which was surprisingly decent (I'm not an olive fan normally) with pita chips. I wasn't a huge fan of the pita chips, but they served as a perfectly fine delivery mechanism for said hummus. The staff there was really nice and seemed to get along and share duties well -- in a small place you notice things like that and it made an impression. read more

When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the host who sat us outside on a high top next to the heater. It was a chilly night, so the heater was great! There was plenty of seating outside with low top and high top tables. The views were great! Our waitress was fantastic. The food came out pretty quick. We ordered loaded potato boats, hummus and pita chips, and pulled pork nachos. The loaded potato boats were just ok. Seemed very dry and not much flavor. The hummus and pita chips were really good, but the pulled pork nachos were awesome! The pulled pork was juicy and flavorful! The nachos are a must here. The rooftop is on the sixth floor of The Waters hotel. From the street it looks awesome. While wouldn't say it's "bad", it's not exactly what I thought it would be. The hotel itself is not cheap 300+ a night rooms. I looked tonight and rooms were 500. With that being said, the rooftop bar was meh. The girl who waited on me was super nice. :) The bar itself is a walk-up bar. The seating outside is a combo of some low and high top tables as well as some little couch areas. I sat at a high top table near the street. It had a lovely view of bathhouse row but the chairs were uncomfortable. You basically need to get your own drinks at the bar; which is fine! There is food but I'm not sure how that works. There was a hostess station but nobody was there. The downstairs bar/restaurant stopped serving dinner around 815 (closes at nine) which was disappointing which is why I went upstairs. They were short staffed and some big tables sat down which I get but I was one person sitting down at the bar. :( I don't know what the rooms are like but the lobby bar and rooftop bar were lacking at such a pricey hotel. read more

We stayed at The Waters (located on the 6th floor) a couple days and wanted to get up here. We opted for Sunday Lunch, but I think an evening dinner would have been delightful. There is inside seating, outside seating with bar service only, and outside seating with bar and food service. Shades and full sun areas available. We arrived right when they opened at noon and were the only people. We did outdoor seating with drinks and the pulled pork nachos. The nachos were so good! Lots of queso, homemade chips, the bbq was great and the cilantro lime creama was the bomb. So overall it was quiet and the staff was attentive. We would dec come back, but as mentioned maybe for dinner or after dinner drinks. It offers really great views of bathhouse row. read more

Great views of the downtown area and plenty of seating that wraps around the to the back of the roof. We went up a few times during our stay and enjoyed a few drinks while live music was echoing throughout the space. Recommend checking it out if you're in the area. read more

Had the shrimp tacos, each taco had one shrimp on it cut into tiny pieces. Barely filled flour shells that were over cooked. Had pineapple in the tacos and they were very wet. Not a good value TBH. The BBQ chicken nachos was precooked chicken squares over very broken up nachos chips. Think bottom of the bag all broken up. Not much toppings on the nachos. Seemed like canned nacho cheese sauce or made from powder cheese sauce. The staff was lackadaisical and not very attentive. The table was wobbly and all of the tables were sat at were dirty. Came in for lunch and drinks after spotting this cute rooftop from the street. The drinks were strong, the view was lovely, but the food was only decent and the menu was pretty limited. Server was kind and made recommendations. Would absolutely return for a cocktail with a nice view but may consider getting a meal elsewhere. read more

PePaw was scheduled, but because they asked Jessica, bar manager, to use a small table for their sounds board, and she wouldn't let them use one, they didn't play. The ambiance was quite lovely despite the fact that it was a windy day. Our server was great and me and my mother enjoyed a drink and an app along with some beautiful music. I got a glass of wine and mom got the basil vodka drink which both were fantastic. I would encourage anyone to enjoy themselves here. You might ask why only 4 stars instead of 5. COVID: they're handling everything great here. All employees are masked and gloved. Sanitizer is easily found. Menus are paper and disposable. The servers sanitize the seats and tables. Hot Springs needed a place like this. It gives an excellent view of downtown and the mountains. The outdoor space is comfortable and they have propane heaters at each seating area to keep you warm. The cocktails are a fair price for the experience and their beer prizes are excellent. If it's winter, you need to try their alcoholic hot chocolate. This will now be my first stop when taking friends out bar hopping in downtown in the future. read more

Bartender and helper (cook?, not sure what he was doing). Outdoor "heaters" are more for ambiance and not really for heat. Pricey. $12 for a small slice of cheesecake they clearly bought frozen. We were seated quickly but ended up waiting about 15 minutes to get our drinks. After dropping off a bucket of beers, an old fashioned, and an espresso martini, our waitress disappeared before we could order appetizers. She reappeared about 10 minutes later and took our food orders. They were out of wings, so we ordered pulled pork nachos and chicken nachos. Our waitress disappeared yet again before we could order more drinks. The nachos took about 45 minutes, and were cold and soggy by the time they got to our table. They were out of plates and substituted them with paper boats - this isn't really a game changer but it just seemed like it was one thing after another. On the bright side we all liked the area and the live music. The roof top is certainly a good place to hang out with friends. This place has potential but needs John Taffer to do a bar rescue. read more

Great spot but call to make a reservation! Ask for the heater to be turned on by your table in the evening. Hummus is pretty salty but the Oak Trail Ice Tea is pretty darn good. Nachos are pretty sweet. read more

Ok. The service here is just awful... Wife and I were here on a cool Saturday evening. Maybe 8 tables at their 20 top patio and they never came to check on us. Was told not to even scan QR code bc they were out of most items. Never mentioned other items that were available. Finally got a drink and then no one came to check on us. We LITERALLY had to chase down "waitress" to get check and pay out. View is 5 stars. Service is 0 stars. Just sad and pathetic for such a place that would be awesome for a great date night. read more

So we were very visible. Servers walking by quite often. Started off nice with music playing. The music stopped and no less then 4 employees said they would get it started again. 30 min later, still no music and no explanation. No attention to the table after the first round. Struggled to get the check. Very strange. I think manager or owner would have shocked at the poor service level. We were. We got right in on the cocktail only side of the rooftop where there were many couches and tables to choose from. The bar would be better if the offered specialty cocktails, instead of saying "we can make whatever you want" and hope they make it right. I ordered an old fashioned, it turned out to be an expensive disappointment. The food doesn't match the ambiance of this place. It is outrageously expensive for something that you would find at a dirty old dive bar. My recommendation for the Rooftop: Create some good speciality cocktails that people can enjoy.
