Meh, I've definitely played better but arguably this could have been the worst. As far as the hike…read moreaspect of it it's great - challenging, great views. This is NOT a beginner course! Almost every hole is a blind throw from the tee (which to some extent is expected but this was a special level of nonsense), poorly marked holes and none existent support to next tees. I felt the overall course was poorly maintained. The only assistance I noticed were white poles that seemed to be markers that you are on the right path like a cairn. This could be confusing depending on holes that overlapped each other on course though. The terrain is wild long grass with poison oak scattered everywhere. There are potholes all over the course with very little well trodden paths to follow around. To some extent the wild portion of the terrain is what it is, so of course this is just FYI cause I don't expect rangers to be maintaining the whole hillside/mountain area. I didn't expect it to be easy; but as a newbie it was more than challenging and a bummer. Even my mister who's a great player found the course disappointing overall. For this area it is not where I'd recommend someone go.

Fun course! The 12 holes is perfect length. Bits of shade which make it not too bad in the summer…read more The baskets are not as far as Kelly and la raza, and they are almost all straight shots with not too many hazards. Also relatively easy to spot your disc if you get off the path. Do not use Apple Maps for the directions--it's takes you too far down the road.

Relatively easy to navigate, short-length, 12-hole course. Definitely a confidence booster if you…read morestruggle on longer length courses. Course has more holes that reward a RHBH player than LHBH. I played when almost every hole was on its B setting, which is the longer distance. Pros 2-4 pins per hole. Cement tee boxes. 2 practice baskets, but they are not located in an ideal location. DGA Mach V baskets throughout. Decent signage. Many holes have phone holders so you could film yourself teeing off (never seen this before.). Not too crowded, even during a peak time on a holiday. Modest elevation changes. Most of the course is wooded and require shots that navigate through and around tree clusters. Well maintained and still has that newish feeling. Several tee boxes were implemented on a slope and they built them up proper; slightly elevated, with wooden borders. Many holes have comfy wooden seating areas (tons of bowl holes;) Cons Course map needed a couple times to find the next hole. Poison oak is rampant. $6 parking fee must be paid at the lower Chestnut lot closer to the entrance. Bring bug spray, a few holes the mosquitos/gnats were annoying.

They recently made some updates to this location since I last tossed discs here (maybe 2 years);…read morethey've created new B tee and A to B tee to basket tosses. They also stopped the river from going through so no more lost discs to the water gods, even when my brother and I went a round in the rain, it was still WAY less water than the last winter I golfed there. Lots of parking and a good variety of holes for a 9 hole, but on the 4th hole you better pick the disc that doesn't veer to the left or you better have your fence climbing shoes on because if it hooks/cuts to the left then it may end up in the infield of the little league field on the other side of a 10' tall fence. It's a quick hop over, but it can be annoying when you put too little spin on it to make the corner. With three holes that are nice and open (with a tree in the way on them) you can feel that you're being challenged enough without thinking it's a cake walk in the park tossing your way through this course.

I had a chance to stop by and play this course yesterday after work. Each basket is marked with…read moreit's hole number on an orange sticker. For those of you who have not been to the facility the course is located at the Ernie Rodrigues softball complex. The first tee box was well marked and you are going to be throwing from dirt tee boxes. Make sure to bring your dirt shoes with some decent sole as you will have to climb up and down a bit. Each hole is marked with a clay tile (with the exception of hole number 6...broken by kids?) that gives you some idea of where the basket is and occasional distance in feet. The holes are not real long but are a definite challenge. Several holes go through trees and really make you have to think about your throws. The baseball fences provide a slight challenge. If your disc goes over a fence, you'll have to walk around to get it as you are not allowed to climb over. No worries because you always throw great, right? All of baskets are brand spankin' new and in great shape. You can see most of them straight from the tee box (i.e. no blind throws). The most challenging holes are #7 and #8. If you have someone playing with you, you will want a spotter on the left side of the hole as right handers will tend to land over there. On #7, I spent about 25 minutes looking for my disc in the berry bushes which have tons of thorns. I was able to find the disc after shredding my legs on the thorns. On #8, there's a creek on the left which caught my driver disc. Luckily, there were people looking for their disc that saw mine dive under some weeds in the water. The course is brand new and will only get better over time. I'm looking forward to going out and trying the course again this weekend. For now I give the course 3 stars. Pros: - Conveniently located for you Livermore Valley wine tasters who like to chuck a disc on the same day - Brand new baskets - Great mix of challenging holes Cons: - Gotta search around a little to find the tee boxes with the pink markers in the dirt and the floor tiles with tee box number. - Some holes (i.e. #3) are a little close to the baseball fences although if you're careful you won't have to walk around. - Nasty thorn/berry bushes on #7 will shred you if you go left There's lots of good info on the Tri Valley Disc Golf Club Facebook site at www.facebook.com/groups/TVDGC/
